Here is the unabridged version of the classic theoretical study of voting behavior, originally published in 1960. It is a standard reference in the field of electoral research, presenting formulations of the theoretical issues that have been the focus of scholarly publication. No single study matches the study of The American Voter.
Was a textbook- i bought it instead of renting it because my professor said it was one of those fundamental books for understanding political behavior, and boy was she right. This book is ALWAYS in the footnotes of the things i read. It honestly was a pretty easy read compared to other academic books.
A classic work on voting behavior. It explored the so-called "psychological model," a misnomer in my view. The focus? Explaining people's political choices using presidential elections in the 1950s. A key factor in finding out how people voted was their party identification. The book also examined other factors as these might affect individual vote choices.
Good explanation of the phenomenon of voting behavior and, without any dubts, a very reliable research, but,for those who were trying to find methdological patterns, it is disappointing. The hypothesis are not clearly explained, the research method remains an incognite and many other problems. Therefore, it is a great book for complaining the phenomenon, but it is less clear for the study of methods of social researches, in my opinion
