First book I have read by this author and I loved it! The build up of Eve and Ben’s relationship was well written. This book covered it all, Enemies, to friends, to friends with benefits before falling for each other. This is a spicy book that had me blush a time or two.
There was also some drama with Eve’s job where people were murdered that added a level of suspense. Looking forward to Nora’s story!

Normally, I am not a fan of slow burns, but this one kept my attention.
It went from Enemies -> friends -> friends with benefits -> lovers. It covered it all!
There was a sprinkle of murder mystery at Eve's job as well, which made the storyline even better.
The only thing I found repetitive was when both Eve and Ben knew they had feelings but kept assuming the other one didn't. But, that's the joy of a slow burn!
It went from Enemies -> friends -> friends with benefits -> lovers. It covered it all!

It’s got the enemies to lovers trope I FALL FOR. But the author lets it build in a slow burn kind of situation. Ben and Eve deal with the drama and get steam added in(; excited for more!

I love that we get chapters written by the villain…even though we don’t know who they are. It keeps us guessing and trying to figure it out! I also loved that our MMC fell first 🥰 I’m so excited to read the next book in this series!

Eh.
Picked up and put down this book numerous times over the span of two weeks. Just wasn’t feeling it but wanted to finish it.
There was the miscommunication trope but it didn’t add drama, it just made the characters seem immature and childish.
The whole murder mystery “who done it” aspect was dry and predictable.

I was given the immense honor of ARC reviewing Waiting in the Wings. This is unpaid and this is my honest review:
The novel follows Eve Reyes, an up and coming Broadway actress struggling with self doubt and a sex hex. Enter Ben O'Connor, a businessman and playboy who's bored with picking up women and having connectionless hookups. He's been stuck on Eve since their first and only date six months ago. They hate each other (enemies to lovers and their chemistry is off the charts!) but have to put that aside for their best friends' wedding. After the reception, what's supposed to be a one night stand turns into so much more than either bargained for. With spicy romance and a murder in Eve's Broadway production, this book has it all!
The chemistry as I mentioned is off the charts but it's not a forced one and I spent the entire time reading it, rooting for both Eve and Ben to just admit it already! They were made for each other in every way.
To me this was a 27 Dresses meets HIMYM meets murder mystery. With a lot of spice (I'm rating the spice level at a 5 because that tie scene and the black heels damn).
A lot of inverted tropes which I loved: the FMC is the dominant one in the bedroom, MMC falls first, MMC is has brat tendencies in the bedroom, and FMC saves herself.
I could go on listing all the reasons I loved this book but I will let you, dear readers, find out for yourselves. You won't be disappointed.
I didn't give a full 5 star review because as much as I loved Waiting in the Wings, the murder mystery portion didn't kick off until about 40% into the novel so it made the second half of the book feel a little unbalanced. Otherwise, I cannot wait for the next one in this series.

Whilst Ben is trying to become the lovable Golden Retriever boyfriend our FemDom Eve needs, cue a psycho and murderous theater phantom who starts mysteriously murdering Eve’s costars. Banter makes my heart happy. This book made my heart ecstatic!
Eve is on the lookout for fulfillment. Lately, she has not had much luck with that with other humans. Ever since her first and only disastrous date with Ben, she has been having this problem.
Ben can't get Eve out of his mind. He has no idea why she left their date so abruptly - he was only dancing with his friend Nora to make her secret infatuation jealous. Was he too good of an actor?
With Eve the maid of honor and Ben the best man at their mutual friend's wedding, they decide to call a truce until after the big day. However, after a steamy session at the pool during the reception, they decide to try an exclusively physical relationship.
Ben would love to spend more time with Eve, but she has rehearsals for an upcoming play. There is a subplot running through the book regarding the play, which is quite compelling.
I loved the interaction with Ben and Eve. Eve is a very proud, stubborn character, but has a heart of gold. Ben is a bit of a prankster, but is very loyal to his friends.
I just love this author's writing style and devoured this book!

I was choose as an ARC reader and this is my honest opinion on the book.
I went into this book without looking it up but damn did it hook me right from the start. I absolutely loved the back and forth between Eve and Ben. It reminded me of myself when I was a feisty 20 year old. Both characters are super relatable and have you routing for them the whole time.
If your looking for a sassy, badass heroin then Eve's your girl. While Ben is the guy that has us girls always hoping we can change the player into Mr. Perfect.
I feel like the murder mystery in this book could have been left out and the book would still be great. However, it did add a nice side story that keeps you guessing till the end. I was a little confused going into this book blind when the murderer chapters appeared but in the end I loved having it as part of the story and it does tie to the book ending well.
Now I need to go read the first book and hopefully we'll get more books of their friends because I need her roommate Brian's story as he has so much potential. As well as, Nora's. Fingers crossed 🤞

I went into this book without looking it up but damn did it hook me right from the start. I absolutely loved the back and forth between Eve and Ben. It reminded me of myself when I was a feisty 20 year old. Both characters are super relatable and have you routing for them the whole time.

Okay, I honestly don’t know where to start with putting my love of this book to words. But here it goes: This book is Book 2 and I loved the first one just as much. This one, though, had so many things I enjoy in one book. Romance, spice, a dirty talking dominant man who is perfectly fine with letting his queen take control, suspense that keeps you guessing who the villain is.
I absolutely love this FMC who likes to have control in certain situations and I love that the MMC is the type of confident man who knows how to give up control but also knows when to take control. Something about a man and a woman like that just does it for me, what can I say?
Also I love that there is dual POV, including the ones from the killer. And it keeps you guessing who that is. And when you find out…. Damn is all I’m going to say.
All in all, I would most definitely recommend this book to all my fellow bookies, it is soo gooood and I absolutely cannot wait until Book 3!

Waiting in the Wings caught me by surprise when the author shared a page from the book in our book group and a sentence caught my attention…a single sentence and I knew I had to meet Ben.
Eve and Ben were “Frenemies” at best after a failed date, but decided to work together on their best friend’s bachelor/bachelorette party and one thing lead to another and that lead to the bedroom. After Eve’s long list of disappointments, and Ben’s long time desire for Eve, these two really are so hot together. Ben is everything I want to see a man give a woman in that “take what you need from me, Princess” kinda way. He does not disappoint and keeps his girl satisfied!
I struggled a little with Eve and her constant need for maintaining their rules/boundaries of their “fun” even when she was denying her feelings for Ben and he was trying to tell her how he felt but wasn’t saying it with his words…if you know what I mean. 😉
The mystery part of the story was interesting. I liked how it was added into the story as a side note from the character. You could see the shift in their mindset and how things they were doing were affecting them. By the end id long suspected who it was, and was right. It did add a nice shift to the story at times.
Overall I enjoyed Ben and Eve’s story. 👏🏻

Great follow up to I'll Be Seeing You!
This is an endearing enemies to lovers filled with angst, spice, and some life or death action thrown in!
I loved Eve, the FMC. She's bold, saucy, and the girl has got a mouth on her. I love that she's open and knows what she wants during spicy time, and is not afraid to go after it! I liked Ben, the MMC, a reformed playboy who can't keep his mid off Eve when they are constantly thrown together by their best friends, who are engaged/married to each other. He's dirty talking, but also a big softie at heart.
There were some ups and downs, fun banter, and waiting to see the drama and danger unfold at Eve's Broadway show rehearsals kept me on the edge of my seat.
This is an endearing enemies to lovers filled with angst, spice, and some life or death action thrown in!
I loved Eve, the FMC. She's bold, saucy, and the girl has got a mouth on her. I love that she's open and knows what she wants during spicy time, and is not afraid to go after it! I liked Ben, the MMC, a reformed playboy who can't keep his mid off Eve when they are constantly thrown together by their best friends, who are engaged/married to each other. He's dirty talking, but also a big softie at heart.

Ben and Eve have a delightful, distracting and somewhat dangerous road to a HEA .
No Spoilers . The wit, creativity and humor Buckingham Young folds in with Ben and Eve is simply perfect. I ADORED the “unveiling” of the murderer at the Broadway show Eve was in.
There are one liners I adore out of the many witty and devilish things Ben and Eve say to/about each other.
The heat is a slow build explosion. Damn.
This can be certainly read as a stand alone or as the 2nd book in the series.

I read the first book in the series and was so excited to read this book...

*Enemies to lovers - I'd say more like Frienemies to lovers
Eve is a very strong, dominating heroine, Ben only shows his "alpha" side a couple is times. He's tall, he's handsome, he's a ladies man but he not opposed to letting the woman take the lead.
Then (murder music) there's murder in the mix, a real who done it. Loved the direction this went in.
Overall, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it. Excited to hear Nora's story.

Amazing Book!
I absolutely loved this book. If you like smut and enemies to lovers, you'll love this book. The mystery element was a nice touch along with the smut and romance. I loved Ben and Eve. Ben was my favorite character in the first one and he's definitely my favorite character in this one. I love their enemies to lovers relationship and its the kind of relationships I wish to write in the future. I love this book and the one previous. E. A Buckingham-Young is an amazing author and she inspires me! I can't wait to read the future titles!

Contemporary romance with a little mystery. Maybe it’s because most books I read are romance or dark romance but this is the first I’ve read that the MFC is take charge in the bedroom. I loved it. Their relationship is so cute and the banter had me laughing out loud several times. It was so different from Jack and Olivia’s sorry but I loved it just as much. I can’t wait for the authors next book!

Ben and Eve had a disastrous first date that sent them in different directions. He is ready to settle down and Eve is the woman he can't get off his mind. Eve's professional life is doing great, but her love life is something else. Their love hate relationship takes a turn and things begin to fall into place for these two. The banter and antics between them kept this story intriguing and me glued to the pages.

What a hot steamy read that will have you on edge! If you know, you know!!! Eve and Ben’s story will give you all the feels in this slow paced friend’s with benefits romance. Then you have so many things that happen that will keep you guessing until all is revealed! I hope Nora gets her own story. I really enjoyed this book so much that I only stopped to sleep, then when I woke up I finished it. Can’t wait to read more by this Author!!!

E.A. Buckingham-Young does it again. This one is a forty actress meets Playboy slow burn... And it is perfection! (Chef kiss) I let this one sit in my TBR for too long considering that I already knew how good the first one was. I'm so freaking excited to read the next one! If y'all are looking for a good slow burn with all the spice plus as a bonus has a mystery backstory... Run don't freaking walk to this one!!!!

I’m so happy I started this year off with such a wonderful book!
Ben is definitely in my top 5 book boyfriends. Like if you don’t radiate Ben O’Conner energy I don’t want you. And Eve and him are amazing together! Their chemistry is so perfect! Like the banter is perfect! The heat is perfect!

I read this as an arc reader, and this is my honest review.
For me, it did take a little while for the plot to thicken, but we'll worth the wait. It does have enemies to lovers feel, and a slow burn to it, and ugh.. Don't even think twice. This was such a great book!

This is a good story. The characters are very well developed. You get to see their thought process and what leads to their decisions which add to the plot. The plot was good I just feel that it felt kind of split or a little too busy. Overall it was a good read.

I loved the romance
I love her way of writing characters, and although I didn't find it quite as suspenseful it was an amazing read. Ben and Eve's relationship is a pleasure to watch come alive and are totally one of my favourite couples

Extremely repetative. We get it. They're both insecure and conflicted. It's hard to enjoy a story whose whole problem could be solved with one open and honest conversation. Also, the random murderer felt like unnecessary b plot.
