I’ve been reading, teaching, and creating tarot for over 25 years. I love tarot deeply — and I believe it’s for everyone.

You don’t need to be psychic.
You don’t need to be magical.
You don’t even need to “believe” in it.

Tarot is a centuries-old information system: human wisdom, lived experience, and emotional truth distilled into 78 cards. Learn tarot once, and you can pick up any deck and use it.

I am the UK and US’s first resident tarot columnist for Cosmopolitan, where I blend tarot and astrology to create forecasts and predictions. Alongside my writing, I read tarot for clients all over the world, every day. What I’ve learned is simple and universal: we all share the same fears, hopes, and questions — and there is always a way through.

My work is rooted in honesty, compassion, and empowerment. I aim to bring clarity, comfort, and hope into every reading, book, and deck I create. There is nothing you can’t face — and you are never alone.

I hope you enjoy my decks and books. I’ve tried to infuse them with as much kindness, depth, and positivity as possible.

For the astrologically curious: I’m a Gemini (don’t hate me), Sagittarius rising, and Pisces moon.

I live in Nottingham with my partner Luke and our three cats — Willow, Peaches, and Tron. Reading is what I spend most of my waking life doing, and I’ve been a devoted library-goer since I was three. I’m very happy to be part of the Goodreads community.

One Liner: Informative

Tarot readings are time-consuming, and spreads are worse. They are detailed for sure but take too much energy and are not always helpful. Some questions need a crisp answer, which a spread doesn’t provide. This book discusses various ways to do one-card tarot reading for different occasions. It also provides interpretations for the 78 cards w.r.t to daily card pulls.

The book starts with a short intro about what to expect and lists a few tarot rituals to help readers align themselves with the universe and stay grounded. The content in the first section is for self, aka the tarot reader.

It begins with how to start the day with a good morning card pull, followed by different one-card reads through the day. More importance is given to affirmations, acceptance, self-belief, journaling, etc., by using the day’s card as an inspiration. Of course, not all rituals are feasible (at least for me), but they are useful for those who want to get back to tarot reading or adopt a better frame of mind.

The second section is about one-card draws, where the author provides her interpretations for each card. This section is brief yet detailed and provides a good perspective of what to consider. While there are no reversals, there’s a subhead, Don’t Do This, which can be used for reversed cards. I admit this section is my favorite, as I’m always looking for more meanings and interpretations.

While the book works for novice readers, some of the mentioned rituals (like trance, bath, etc.) can be tough. Nevertheless, these are just for guidance. The author encourages readers to create their own rituals by using hers as a starting point.

The book has some lovely, dreamlike illustrations. Some are of a young girl, a tarot reader, while the others are of the cards (in section two). The overall tone is ethereal and comforting, with a touch of mysticism. The illustrations suit the mood and theme of the book.

To summarize, Card of the Day Tarot guides experienced tarot readers to gain deeper insights from their readings but with a focus on a single card.

Thank you, NetGalley and Fair Winds Press (Quarto Publishing Group), for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

What a stunning, beautifully illustrated guidebook! Kerry Ward's Card of the Day Tarot provides you with EXACTLY what I keep telling my friends and naysayers: Tarot is an aid to self-examination: each card has layers of meaning that have evolved over the years, and it can be the key to unlocking and releasing your current dilemma or inner torment.

Like Carl Jung, I look for nuances of meaning or guidance in my tarot practice. In this guidebook, Ward provides you with psychological insights, affirmations and suggestions for each card. Kerry Ward is incredibly supportive. Reading through this book was empowering and motivating. I felt ready to join the Knight of Swords and conquer my doubts and opposition (in a positive, kind, mindful and meaningful way, of course!)

I like the idea of choosing just ONE card a day (although I have always preferred the standard Celtic Cross spread: I like to see the big picture and try to pinpoint where I can change the direction of my thinking or actions in order to get back on emotional track.)

There are no pointing fingers here: we all go through slumps and cringe under self-doubt or recrimination. Ward often exhorts you to put on your big girl or boy pants, examine your true feelings and motivations, and either leave what is not working behind you with a graceful, if regretful wave goodbye, or work on fixing what you may have inadvertently broken.

You can learn a lot about yourself from this book. It lifted my mood and brightened my spirits. I would definitely love to have a hard copy of this book on my already overflowing bookshelf. Highly, highly recommended!

My thanks to the author, Kerry Ward, her publisher, Fair Winds Press, and NetGalley for an ARC of this most excellent guidebook in exchange for an honest review. 5 out of 5 well deserved stars.

I’ve been reading tarot cards for just over two decades. I am by no means a novice.

I have read and own countless books on reading the tarot. It is hard to find new tarot books that I can honestly say I would recommend.

Refreshingly, this is one of them!
While this is not a deep, thorough guide - it is perfect for getting in to the habit of a more relaxed yet, focused approach of doing one card readings.

Kerry Ward is a professional tarot reader herself and the love she put in to this book is evident. Please, do yourself a favor and do not skip the introductory part of this book. She drops several gems I felt were significant to understanding what the goal of the book is. Her perspective on tarot interpretations and tarot overall is refreshing.

There are several rituals, meditations and active reflections in the first section of the book that mix so well with deeply learning tarot but not in a stuffy or overwhelming way.

While I believe most of these are possible for novice and advanced readers; there is one which brings in the act of trance which may be difficult for some to dive in to immediately.

The rest of the book goes in to one card readings for love, career, and more and appropriate days to do so, some affirmations and more.

The bulk of the book is one card readings card interpretations. This I feel is an excellent section as I can see it being a book one could easily go to daily and quickly get information when doing one card draws.

Last but not least, the artist Adam Ohlers, who illustrated this is amazing. The watercolor artwork is a wonderful fit for the book as all of the art gave even more depth to the content.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher Fair Winds and the author Kerry Ward for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book via an advanced readers copy (ARC).

Beautifully illustrated by Adam Oehlers and thoughtfully executed by Kerry Ward, “Card of the Day TAROT— Quick and Easy One-Card Tarot Readings for Love, Work, and Everyday Life” provides users with suggestions on daily one-card readings; positive affirmations; challenges to overcome; and other tips about maximizing your cards to enhance your relationships, career, personal life, dreams and so much more.

As Tarot professional Ward notes in her dedication of this gorgeous little reference guide, there are many Tarot decks gathering dust from lack of use. Typically, this is because laying a complete spread takes more time, thought and effort.

Therefore, she developed this great little motivational tool to encourage enthusiasts to take their decks out and pull a card-a-day for inspiration and direction.

She’s included lots of potential questions to ask for your daily consultation, as well as a page of outcomes for every card in both the Major and Minor Arcanas. So, maximize your decks for insights into your life on a daily basis using Ward’s simple methods.

JoyReaderGirl1 graciously thanks NetGalley, Author Kerry Ward, and Publisher Fair Winds Publishing, an imprint of The Quarto Publishing Group USA Inc. for this advanced reader’s copy (ARC) for review.

Card of the Day Tarot is a beautiful edition with enough knowledge for those who are being introduced to the tarot reading world.

For those looking for a welcoming beginner-friendly book about divination with tarot, I think Kerry Ward is a good option, though I have my "complaints" that I'll later explain:
The strongest point this book brings to the table is the beautiful art by Adam Oehlers and Ward's approach to tarot. This is a guide centered on Kerry Ward's method more than anything, and she is opening herself and letting us see her own view of the cards, method, and spirituality. It's, at the end of the day, a book infused with personality and love for teaching.

Here is the thing, I expected something more broad, and though I enjoyed the perspective on the layered cards of the tarot, I felt that I wouldn't be able to take it out of the "Card of the day" context by itself. With this I mean, with something as Tarot is hard not to be too generic, but also be tricky when you're too specific.
So, if I put myself in the position of knowing nothing of the cards I feel like the book is lacking.
If you know some generic things, then things change and it can become more useful.

As someone who loves one-card tarot readings, I've really been looking forward to reading this book, and I certainly wasn't disappointed ☺️

While this book's focus is on these single card draws, it's not just "shuffle, draw, interpret", but rather it contains 12 distinct rituals based around drawing a single card. I especially love the first ritual "Good Morning! Tarot" and I spent this morning clearing off the shelf that forms my bed's headboard to give me a clean and tidy space for my deck and drink. It also means that performing ritual 7 "Dreams of Tarot" will be easy to do too.

After the 12 rituals, this book goes into interpretations for your one-card draws, starting with the Major Arcana, then going through the Minor Arcana. Each of the 78 cards gets a full page, with the guidance divided up into 10 sections including "Advice for Right Now/Today", "Life Lesson", and "Is This a Yes or No?".

This book is perfect for the beginner, especially if they find multi-card spreads a bit overwhelming, and experienced readers looking for something new to add to their practice. It's also great for anyone feeling a little burnt out from their tarot practice, by providing the encouragement to just draw a single card.

I don’t know about you but I had two tarot decks given to me and not a clue with what to do with them. I used them for big spreads but definitely not thought about them on a daily basis. This book changed all of that!
Card of the Day Tarot given some history and reasoning as to why you might want to use a deck more than you thought. Throughout this beautiful book and it’s gorgeous art all the cards are explained in detail and how it relates to the day to day. I found myself dusting off my old decks and trying this out today. It was quick and easy to find the card I chose in this and easy to understand how this can be a guide to my day or my question I have for my deck.
I loved the art and how it made me feel reading the card. This is a fun exercise to add to my day to give a little external insight to an internal problem. This would be great for a beginner or to give as a gift WITH a deck.

First of all, I really like Kerry Ward's other products and I really enjoyed her tarot deck. I expected to love this book because of the easy one-card readings it is based on. The book is divided into two parts, the first is ideas and explanations for what the one-card readings can be and what possible questions one could make. Based on the first part I would give the book three stars, however, the second part saved the book for me, it is the interpretations of the major and minor arcanas. I really liked the second part and it enabled me to add a star to the previous rating I would have used.

Thank you, NetGalley, Kerry Ward, and Quarto Publishing for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A must-have for anyone considering or currently working on daily tarot readings, from novice to aficionado. The meanings and reflections for each tarot card are contained here; they are concise, informative and useful. The author creates a template for all different methods of daily draws and gives inspiration for new ways to pull a tarot practice into your daily life. The book creates a space for and desire to be mindful about one’s life, magical practice, and purpose. It is an easy read, without any stumbling blocks, and I’m grateful to have this reference material on-hand and intend to use it daily. This is not a read and give-away or re-home book. It is a permanent reference guide amongst countless other tarot books I own and do not turn to as frequently. Well done!

This book is full of useful information about how to use the tarot, how to prepare yourself and wind down afterwards and gives information on different situations when you may need to use the tarot eg for love, reflection or career.

Each card of the tarot is discussed succinctly so you aren’t faced with a wall of text to try to interpret. The illustrations are beautiful which is to be expected from the talented Adam Oehlers.

The idea of pulling one tarot card instead of doing complicated spreads is very appealing as a daily practice and it is presented very well here in this book. I recommend this for all lovers of tarot, whether beginner or advanced.

This book changes the game in tarot, removing all the complexity and doubt of creating spreads and receiving confusing or contradictory messages. The book is the ULTIMATE tarot guide because it reconfigures all the meanings to answer ANY question, so you only ever need pull ONE card.
Furthermore, it introduces 12 daily rituals for drawing a tarot card so you can revamp your practice, bring tarot's wisdom and guidance into your everyday life and key life areas e.g. career, love.
Adam Oehlers has illustrated the book with hand-drawn, stunning pictures, illustrating the cards and rituals.
This book will bring a bit of magic into your world AND revamp your whole tarot practice.

This was an informational insight on how to start using tarot and what you can do with them. As someone who is slowly starting to get into tarot and oracle cards, I found it delightfully easy to read and made me more interested to view the day-to-day basis on how how it would interact with my cards.

Would I get it myself? Absolutely. Would I recommend it to anyone? It would all depend on the perspective of the individual and rather or not they would enjoy this.

I actually loved this! Even if you don't believe in Tarot, the ideas are great. It's basically using Tarot to find a point of focus for your day, with explanations of how to read the cards and how to keep the focus during the day. It's hard to keep the same positive energy all day long and these little rituals and meditations are easy to use and understand. I think my favorite was putting the Tarot card on the mirror so it's in the corner of your eye without being intrusive.

I found this to be a very helpful and informative book. Kerry Ward shares 12 card-of-the-day tarot rituals so the practitioner can enhance their tarot reading skills with one-card readings. She also very helpfully gives interpretations for all 78 cards that can be found in a tarot deck. Each interpretation is broken down by: advice for right now/today; affirmation; a reassurance; life lesson; a challenge; do this; don't do this; who; when; and is this a yes or a no. So, a lot of information is provided to work with - I'm excited to apply it to my readings!

Interesting read
This makes a good introduction to Tarot card reading. It's simple for those of us who dread that huge tome to start out. I've had the cards for years and did not try, but I plan to start out with the info here and if I can master that move onto the book I received with them...maybe. This was easier to grasp.
I requested and received a NetGalley arc to peruse gratis and offer my opinion in the same.

Thank you to Net Galley and Quarto Publishing Group for a digital ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. I have many Tarot decks, a couple of which speak to me more than others. I have multiple books for spreads, meanings, study, etc. This book is unique in that it's ONE CARD. I love that. Many times I just want a quick check in. This book helps with that.

Beautifully illustrated and laid out, this is a must for anyone interested in a daily card draw. It's helpful and informative, with a gentle and intuitive aspect that works with all tarot decks (the author has her own). It would make a lovely gift, especially if given with a deck if you are a beginner.

The art in this book makes it worth the purchase in itself. It’s just beautiful. The info is all great too. Full disclosure, I am not really a follower of tarot but I know a lot about it and my wonderful goddaughter is a tarot reader. This is one of my favorite tarot books that I’ve read. Recommended.

Quick impressions: I would recommend the book for beginners. I'd also recommend it for some intermediate folks seeking some new card reading ideas, or as the author suggests, to bring back out some deck you may not have used in a while.

I really loved this book. I liked the suggestions for how to incorporate tarot into your daily life (although some of them seemed a bit more time-consuming than I could manage on a daily basis) and I appreciated the author's conversational tone when breaking down the messages of the individual cards (and the fact that she didn't limit herself to the Waite-Smith deck). She made the cards so relatable. This was the first tarot book I've read in a while that I found to be completely useful!

I'm so glad I was able to read this ahead of publication and I look forward to buying a hard copy once it's available.
