In this laugh-out-loud funny installment of a #1 New York Times bestselling series, Rafe inherits a million dollars—and a million problems—as he finds himself struggling to fit in at one of the snobbiest schools in the country. When Rafe discovers that he's inherited a fortune, it's not all good news. Sure, he gets an all-expenses-paid trip to glamorous Beverly Hills…. but he also has to go to school while he's in California. Blergh. And not just any school–St. Benedict’s, the snobbiest of snobby establishments. You can bet your bottom dollar that Rafe doesn’t exactly fit in. Toss in a ramshackle house Rafe’s family has to live in before they can inherit the money and a group of bullies who make Miller the Killer look downright friendly, and this trip might be more trash than treasure.
Rafe finds himself in the middle of a very big mess. Can he tidy his life up, or will he be sent packing?

After being disappointed by Middle School: Winter Blunderland, I was really hoping that this book would be an improvement. And it turns out, I was right! This book is what I love about the Middle School series! It was extremely well done, and it didn't drag on. I'm glad I read this. This might be one of my favorites from the series in a long time. Well done James Patterson!
The story started off with Rafe’s sister Georgia's friends came to his house and interrupting Rafe on a rainy day, But suddenly a guest knocked on the door. He offered one million dollars to live in a small mansion and to attend a BHP school in California. The catch is that the mansion was decaying, old, and really grimy. The mansion did have famous paintings though. The school didn’t look bad on the outside or inside but the people were bad mannered. There was this one group of people that had shiny hair and they’re the bullies of Rafe. But there was one nice person named Kasey. In the end they didn’t manage to get one million dollars, but at least they got the famous paintings.
My most favorite character is Rafe Katchadorian because he experienced any horrible thing you can think of, but yet he still stood up and never gave up. He is adventurous and humorous and makes other people laugh.
This novel was great but you could still make some minor improvements. You could deduce the amount of pictures, extend the chapters because a chapter is mostly three to four pages long, and add more sophisticated words for people to learn them and so that they can use them in studies or essays.
This book is great for readers who enjoy stories about friendship, school drama, and what happens when life suddenly changes.
Rafe Khatchadorian and his family has inherited a million dollars from his late uncle. The catch is that they have to move to Beverly Hills, and Rafe has to attend a school for two months filed with snobs. Will Rafe pull it off to help his family claim the million dollars? Laugh out loud humor with twists and turns throughout.
This book was funny, I have a few other books in this series so when I saw at my library that they had this and a few others by the author, I got really excited to see what kind of trouble Rafe would get into this time. :D
Note: I received a digital review copy from Edelweiss.
When Rafe Khatchadorian has to go to California again for two months to live in an house to inherit one million dollars from his Uncle Grey, who passed away, he also has to go to school as well. He has to deal with annoying bullies and teachers, along with living in a weird house with his mom and little sister Georgia.
I’ve read every book in the series, but this might just be my new favorite of the series. I was very happy to finally see a book actually about school for once, and it reminded me a lot of the first book in the series. This book wasn’t as crazy as most of the modern books, and it felt more normal than a lot of the newer books. The new characters were actually really interesting, along with a character from a previous book that I won’t spoil here. This book has some pretty good humor as well.
The illustrations were fantastic once again. The illustrator, Jomike Tejido, does a fantastic job at bringing the characters to life in his drawings.
Overall, “Middle School: Million Dollar Mess” was a fantastic read in the series. I’m glad that this series is still going strong. I hope, however, that the next book is set in Hills Village, mostly because the books now are always set in different areas, so I would like it if the next book was set in Rafe’s hometown.
