A. E. Murphy is the Queen of sarcasm and satire, she likes long walks in the park, as much as ice cubes like to chill in a roasting oven.
She’s effortlessly independent and so good at adulting it’s unfair on the rest of the world. She only napped twice today and has only avoided the dishes for three days before making the child slaves do them this morning.
Winning!
Her favourite hobby is writing, her worst hobby is reading through that writing.
Also she has two cats that carry toys to the top of the stairs and drop them down so they can chase them. They do this repeatedly in the middle of the night.
Who cares if she has work the next morning?
Not the cats, that’s for sure.
And if it’s not the cats doing the waking, it’s the toddler crawling into bed with her and pulling individual hairs from her scalp with pudgy little fingers for comfort.
This is likely why she’s in a constant state of grump unless there’s chocolate and coffee.
P.S. Please leave feedback, if not on the book then on this ridiculous bio she wrote herself. It’s the least you can do seeing as she’ll forever talk in the third person now.
Alex loves her readers. Alex says thank you. Alex smiles.

ETA : Some of my friends liked this review and I got another headache just remembering this book so we're downgrading from 2 stars to 1 star. 😌

Review

This book honest to God gave me a headache.

I'm fasting so I can't even take an Advil ffs. Which means the Hulk is out and here's an accurate description of what I wanna do rn to IMOGEN

And KANE

On my way to try and sleep it off. Might try giving my thoughts on this later, once I can string two coherent sentences together and my eyes stop trying to leave my body.

5 Tumultuous Stars ⭐

Here’s the deal, I loathe bully romances because I can’t stomach the cruelty that is associated with this trope. Yet here I stand eating humble pie because VICIOUS was the bomb. And the secret? This author writes fanfuckingtastic characters and underdogs who always come out on top.

Some people come into this world under unfortunate circumstances. There are those that crumble under the disappointment, and others that rise and conquer.

"He says he might not know dick about love, but he does know he’ll worship me like his queen until the day he dies."

You’ll not meet two characters as deranged as Kane Jessop and Imogen Hardy. Their story starts as eight-year old’s that loathe each other on sight. The little boy that bullies for attention and the little girl praying for reprieve. Shipped and abandoned to grandparents by a deadbeat mother, Immy and her brother are now in the custody of bible bashing abusers. Adding a bully to the equation is bound to send anyone over. And so it does…

"I feel like a caged bird, broken, without a voice, without love."

This journey is told from the past to present. The cycle of two unlikely people falling in love. Where Immy was once the victim, she learnt quick to protect and defend the most important thing, herself. But whatever they’d built, embraced or broke was based on toxic love.

"I almost laugh at the thought of that ever being a reality. Kane and I will never be stable. I’ll always hate him and he’ll always want to hurt me. It’s how we fucking roll."

The present day has Immy returning after having left her old life behind. She's back burying her grandmother that did her no favours. It was meant to be a quick visit; however, she has unfinished business. This time around Kane will not allow Immy to run or continue guarding secrets. Revelations that will devastate and unify them yet again.

VICIOUS had it all. Drama, love, hate and healing with a twist. This was standout. 🖤

DON-T-DELETE-copy 'VICIOUS' Is a full length romance book by 'New to me author' A.E. Murphy

So this had been doing the rounds on my IG feed and there was me rushing to #oneclick on Amazon.

God how I loved this! I didn’t think I’d enjoy this one as much as I did with how it jumps from past (eight years old) to present (Twenty six years old) chapter to chapter, I’ve not encountered a book set out to this degree before, but for this storyline it just worked perfectly!

Immy on the outside looked like she had everything, a roof over her head and a loving Mee-Maw, but truth be told she's drowning on the inside. She's always expected to be the perfect grandchild, to mind her manners, to always do what's asked of her and to attend church on the regular. And to always be kind to others with a smile on her face as she's doing it, but when at the age of eight she meets a boy that boils her blood to bursting when he hurts her twin brother, nails and claws come out.

To make matters worse is the day he's enrolled in her school, and even though he's trouble with a capital T he's not going anywhere. To ignore him just ups his taunting games.

And a hate to love you push and pull relationship of a sort ensues. he became some of her most memorable moments to some of the worst she'd ever encountered. But somewhere along the way lines became blurred and he became her safe haven.

97435036-2950125108418119-6623790819788718080-o

These two were a volatile hot mess, she was a spitfire and he was an uncouth bully.
They were imperfectly imperfect but perfect for each other.
I giggled, I swooned, I got teary eyed and I loved!
The feels and angst went hand in hand.

After reading this and loving it like I did I’m excited to try another book by this author.

3.5 stars ummm why did i rate it that? 2 stars --->and those two stars are for young Immy and Kane

Well I'm not sure how to feel about this one.....let me elaborate!

Vicious is a childhood enemies-to-lovers romance/second-chance romance. It starts out with our heroine Imogen Hardy going to her grandmother's funeral and saying some.........choice words if you will. As she looks to get the hell out of her hometown she runs into her childhood bully turned first love Kane Jessop. From there A.E. Murphy decides to make almost every other chapter told from the past and present.

There was a lot that I really enjoyed about Vicious !

1st! I actually really loved reading the past flashbacks a lot more than I thought I would. Usually when books are structured this way I get a bit annoyed because you're basically waiting around for the 'big reveal' and it just leaves me feeling anxious the whole time. Not only that but due to the story being split up like this I get very critical of said 'big reveal' and whether or not it was a good enough reason for said couple to be split up. Which is a big reason I didn't love the second half of Vicious near as much as the first 60%. Honestly this is one of those times where I just wanted more of Immy and Kane's teenage selves! Where I think A.E. Murphy really excelled was nailing the voice of child/teenaged Immy (+Kane and all of the side characters). What really takes me out of these types of flashbacks structured stories is that the teenaged version of the main protagonist thinks/sounds EXACTLY the same as their adult counterparts. Which is just not realistic. I'm sorry but 12 year old me does not think the same way current me thinks. Immy's voice throughout the years really matched whatever age she currently was and I give A.E. Murphy major props for that.

2nd! Watching the relationship between Immy and Kane grow was the best part of the flash backs! What I loved most about the flashbacks was not only watching Immy become super strong and really stand up for herself but also the development between Kane and Immy. Now.......Immy and Kane were interesting. Their relationship started with him basically sexually harassing her and bullying her + her twin at age 9. And then slowly morphed into a mutual love/hate relationship that honestly really worked?? Yeah to say their dynamic was fiery is an understatement. They got into huge arguments all the time, called each other names, and were just explosive together. Yet it worked for me (most of the time I'll explain soon). As Kane points out their fights were this couple's love language and it was actually kind of sweet (most of the time) to watch in a weird way.

3rd! I was just really loving teenaged Immy and Kane as characters. They were both extremely flawed, dramatic, angsty, and just teenagers. And that made them compelling to read about. Immy especially dealt with a lot of shit that was just heartbreaking. She bared the brunt of the abuse from her grandmother and grandpa. And watching her slowly grow stronger and more confident in herself felt so good to read about. Every time she stood up for herself and realized she deserved all the love in the world I wanted to cheer for her! Also Kane surprisingly worked for me. I'm not going to excuse his behavior towards her when they were kids but I did understand a bit what he was thinking. However, I think once him and Immy started dating her really proved in his own way how much he truly loved and cared about her.

So, you're probably wondering wow you're really singing this book praises! Why only 3.5 stars then? Well it all went downhill after that 'big reveal' I was talking about *SPOILERS AHEAD*

Other things that didn't work for me....was and I hate to say this.....the adult versions of Kane and Immy I think I could have forgiven all the drama that went down at 50% if I had liked the adult versions of Kane and Immy once we were finished with the flashbacks. But I just didn't. First off these two acted like their teenaged selves (but 10 times more annoying) even though they were supposed to be 26 year old adults. They just didn't act like they were 26. They acted like they were still 18 year old kids and Immy just kept lying to Kane and getting him super pissed off. They were really wishy washy towards each other, and to be honest I was very disappointed in Kane's reaction once she did reveal the whole truth to him.

I found myself wishing I was reading about the teenaged versions of Kane and Immy again. To make a long rant short I guess my main issue was that I found the story a lot more compelling when it focused on the love story between Immy and Kane as teens and quickly lost interest when it focused solely on the present timeline.

**SIDE NOTE**
My one critique of teen Immy was that she hit Kane a lot. Like punched him in the face, stomped on his foot, broke his arm, punched him in the chest, slapped him etc etc (also he pulled her hair a lot and pushed her down hard when they were kids). It started to make me feel a bit icky reading this because it felt a physically abusive but was brushed off/never addressed because she was a girl doing it to her boyfriend. And I get that she had a temper and he would try to rile her up and he was doing stupid shit but.....If this had been the other way around it would've been terrible and I would be yelling at Immy to get the hell out of that relationship.

Some other issues I had! The drama that went down with Poppy and Matt (Immy's brother) felt so far out of left field it just left me scratching my head.

Their relationship went from 0 to nuclear wasteland in about .5 seconds and the whole drama between them gave me some serious whiplash.

Like was everyone just going to skip over how out of nowhere this drama was? No? okay then. I'm assuming we'll get a sequel about them then???

Also I want to know what happened to Mallick??? The only named black character in the story (the author goes out of her way to mention that he is black) literally disappears after Immy kisses him at age 14. Where did he go? What happened to him? Did Kane murder him for kissing Immy? Did he move? What is his take on everything? This might be nitpicking but I just kept thinking the whole time 'where is Mallick and why did he suddenly dissapear?'

In conclusion I really really enjoyed the first half of Vicious. Teenaged Immy and Kane really won me over and I was really rooting for them. Adult Immy and Kane meh.

I want to say though I still did enjoy reading the book as a whole and don't regret picking it up! But judging from all the 5 star reviews I am clearly in the minority with my reaction to all the drama and reveals that the 2nd half depicts. So hey what do I know?

Didn’t like the characters and I’m not a fan of flashbacks or going back to the past a lot. I don’t mind a few chapters but with this book your consistency going back to when she was a teenager. Because of this the characters in the present weren’t developed enough and it didn’t seem like they were separated for long. What I mean is that it’s like the h never left town.

The catalyst of her worst moments but he was also the causes of her best. Holy fuck. Phenomenal. Yet another read I’m ugly crying over. Give this a chance if you want to see how two people so similar who hated each other come to be the very best thing for each other. I’m in love with this!

DNF @ 4% when I got to the name Bobby Ray.

I was nervous to start this book because after reading the blurb I knew this would have a Texas setting. I veer away from contemporary romances with Texas settings because more often than not they're written by authors who have never spent any meaningful amount of time in Texas. The attempt to create this Texan culture for their romance is distracting for me, considering I'm from Texas. Sometimes the authors even try to give their characters Texan accents that are painfully inaccurate bordering on insulting. I thought I'd give this a chance anyway and crossed my fingers I wouldn't have to deal with any poorly done attempts @ Texan dialects.

Obviously this didn't work out.

Within the first 4% of this book I had to read stuff like:

- The word "ain't" used several times. I grew up in a rural, small town in Texas and was taught in public school that the word "ain't" wasn't proper grammar. More importantly, because of the common stereotype that Texans are stupid, it was emphasized in elementary school that we shouldn't use that word. I've rarely heard the word "ain't" used in Texas, and I've been all across the state.

-The grandmother's name is "Mee Maw." There's nothing wrong with that name, lol. It just seemed like a bit much in this story.

-There is a character named "Bobby Ray"

-The author tried to give the characters Texan dialects by writing words like: "lookin'" & "havin'" (though Texans do shorten their words like this, this combined with all the above is grating to read).

-Oh, the kicker was at 1% in this book with the sentence: "My brother done nothing to this boy." ...this purposeful lack of grammar the author gave the Texan character was insulting.

-Phrases like "snarls & spits" 🙄

...There may very well be a good story in this book, but all this is so distracting I can't get into it.

5 Vicious stars!!!

What happens when the boy who torments you your whole life is also the one boy you can’t get out of your head?!?!

One explosive relationship is what happens!!

Kane and Imogene are two bullheaded children. Kane Jessop is a dickhead. They say a boy likes you if he picks on you, that gets a whole different meaning in this book. I literally hated Kane for quite awhile. And then I realized they ended up in this explosive relationship where BOTH were just as crazy as the other. Maybe they had some mommy issues, ok well I know they did. Also, some grandma issues. Jeez that lady was a piece of work.

I love so many of the characters in this book. Some things I saw coming but when I thought I knew it all the author hit me with a new twist. I got excited for every new chapter.

I have never been so conflicted. I never knew whether I was angry, turned on, sad or all three. This author always tests my limits with characters. I love it. So many characters that are just fucked but at one point you love the shit out them. It’s like she feeds you to these wolves only to save you two seconds before you are to be ravaged. Brilliant!!

Another great job by the author. I felt every emotion under the rainbow. I had so many questions. I wanted to scream many times. I think under it all many lessons were taught as well. But I grew with these characters. I love that I knew them as well as children as adults. This is def a book you will want to talk about!

**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**

Solid 4 ⭐️ up until the last 30% or so. The last part draaaaaaaged on, even though it was important to the story. The other issue, especially with the last portion of the book, was the editing. Too many Britishisms and typos, which were distracting. However, the first 70% was very good and I’m looking forward to reading the author’s other work. I recommend this one for the angsty romance, twists and turns, and hot long-haired bad boy. 😁

I just couldn’t do it. With all the flash back and the adult versions of these characters talking and acting like the teen version of themselves was eye rolling. Their relationship is the very definition of abusive (physically and emotionally)
And are they supposed to be from the south??? Because I’m from the Deep South and we don’t sound like toothless inbred degenerates. Why, I ain’t never did done heard nobody talkin like’is, ya know.
Anyway....read a review full of spoilers (thank you for that...no seriously....THANK YOU!) After finding out the rest of the story....I’m ok with not finishing it.

✨Review Vicious by A.E. Murphy✨

“𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣’𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙢. 𝙇𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙖𝙧 𝙤𝙞𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙩, 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙠𝙮 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚. 𝘾𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙢𝙮 𝙚𝙮𝙚𝙨, 𝙄 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙄 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙣𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩. 𝙄𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙙𝙧𝙪𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚. 𝙃𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙙𝙧𝙪𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚. 𝘼𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨, 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙧𝙪𝙜. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙮𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨.“

A.E. Murphy strikes again. This author is just absolutely fantastic and I am so happy I found her. Her writing style is brilliant. Her plot twists insane I literally saw none of anything coming. And this women can write sexual tension like nobody’s business. I have been anxiously awaiting this release and definitely did not disappoint! Vicious is amazing and I highly recommend y’all pick up this book immediately. I haven’t read a really good Enemies-To-Lovers in a long damn time and this one exceeded all my expectations!

This book features Imogen & Kane. We get to see the past and present interwoven throughout this story and it was executed perfectly. I loved reading about the past and seeing how absolutely VICIOUS Kane was to Immy. The saying “𝙃𝙚’𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪,” is definitely right on the mark.

Kane was beyond cruel to Immy and she has no idea why, if he likes her then he needs to unlike her she is sick of the torment. But nope this goes on for years.. and slowly over the years Immys feelings towards Kane start shifting from Anger and torment to lust. “𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚?” “𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚𝙗𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙?”

Kane is a vicious, sexy, jealous, possessive asshole and I loved every minute of him. 🤤 Imogen was strong, broken, beautiful, and sassy. I loved them both and this story. And let’s not forget how amazing A.E. writes the best secondary characters! Umm let’s just say I need Poppy and Matthew ASAP. ❤️

“Give me your fucking eyes.”

Let my highlights tell you how good this book is.

“He was a drug to me. A dangerous, soul destroying drug. The catalyst of all my worst moments”.

“Kane Jessop might be vicious, but he has a big heart. When it comes to me anyway”.

“Kane Jessop never stopped loving me anymore than I stopped loving him. Even our mutual hatred couldn’t destroy our bond. A bond that shouldn’t exist. A bond that makes no sense”.

I almost dnf this one, I had to scheck the ending to make sure there was a hea. But even with that, I had to put it away for 2 days, I was scared to read what they did to Imogen at the camp and how they took her baby from her, but I summoned my courage and I'm glad I did it. Fortunately, there were not much details about her passage in the camp.
I've forgotten the level of angst this author can write.

Because OF COURSE AE Murphy knocks it out of the park... again. I mean honestly, this woman can do no wrong. Vicious is just more proof to that.

Within the first pages, I was hooked. It was immediate. I loved Imogen, almost as much as Kane did. There is so much to these two characters, but so much of the same. Both unsure as to why they aren’t capable of being loved, but both so stubborn about seeing the possibility of love that’s right in front of them at the same time.

But oh, watching their relationship grow and evolve and morph into something so much more than either of them could have expected is magic. Sometimes volatile, sometimes beautiful, but always with love. It is so deeply engrained in both Imogen Hardy and Kane Jessop and I loved being able to witness it.

But their journey doesn’t come without obstacles, to say the least. There’s heartbreak woven into their story, but it only strengthens their bond in time. You’ll hurt for them, you’ll rage for them, you’ll cry for them. It’s messy and it’s hard. But the fight they have for each other is inspiring.

Easily a top read of 2020 for me. Vicious will stay with me, no doubt. AE Murphy knows how to hook you in, twist you into eleventy billion emotions, then smooths everything out again for you. Her words and her characters are all unforgettable and Immy and Kane are no different.

I devoured this!!!!
I barely survived Naked or Dead but this? Wow!!!
.
I’m so speechless I wouldn’t be surprised if this review doesn’t make one ounce of sense. But I’m going to try nonetheless.
.
A.E has a habit of making you feel a whirlwind of emotions. Her characters are never in a particular box or your normal typical characters which just adds so much dimensions to the story. There’s something to be said about beautiful chaos. Because that’s what we get. So much heartache, pain, hate, loss, love, passion, and more.
.
You can’t help but be captivated from the first page. Like a moth to a flame this book drew me in and spat me out. From the tension, witty humour, real topics such as abandonment, I can’t help but marvel at the genius that is A.E and her ability to weave it all seamlessly and find the balance in it all also.
.
Imogen and Kane’s story is by far one of my favourites! Their journey wasn’t easy but the best ones never are. Such an amazing plot, you can’t even predict what’s going to happen and when you think you do? Hello plot twist. Oh you have a sibling? Great! *cue deadpanned face*
.
No joke.
.
There’s nothing I disliked about this book. The characters even the minor characters were so well written and developed, their growth and even the roles they play, was amazing to read. The world building, amazing imagery and detailed so well I was transported. Everything felt so real. The complexities and layers to the book, blew me away.
.
You will laugh, you will cry, you will shout and likely want to throw it across the room and want to reach in and strangle some of the characters or just one in particular but, its all worth it!!!!

A.E. Murphy yet again writes another damn good book.

I'm to the point where I'm convinced I don't even need to read the blurb to know I'll love it.
Just her writing capability alone draws me in and doesn't let me go until I finish the story. Imogen and Kane's story was no exception and it just reminds me that I need to get to everything on her backlist.

Imogen and Kane have the perfect hate to love story. They love each other just as much as they hate each other. They are fire and gasoline, but then they are the balm to their burn. I loved every second of their story.

It starts when they are kids and Kane is so mean-- vicious. The saying "he's only doing it because he likes you" is used in this story and is definitely true. Although, it takes a while to get to the liking part.
Imogen hates him and he deserves it. But even though he's mean, he's also there at times of need and you can't help but love even the bully in him.
When things finally become real between them you can literally feel how much they mean to each other even if they can't always find the words. And of course, I have to mention how hot their sexual chemistry is. The back and forth between them only adds to it! I just loved how A.E. built up their relationship. We got to experience a lot of what young love can really be like (at least in my experience) and I appreciated that.

But.

As always there are obstacles. There is pain, secrets, abandonment, betrayal, and even loss. A loss that seriously broke my heart for both Imogen and Kane. Secondary characters play big parts, some I hated and some I grew attached to. *cough cough* Poppy and Matthew.

Their story is full circle. It has all the ups and downs, but it comes with healing. I seriously loved this book! Definitely one I'll want to own and reread!

“Give me your eyes.”
————————————————————————-
I am in awe of what I just read. When reading the blurb of this novel, I was slightly confused, but once I dived into the novel, I couldn’t stop. This is one of those books I couldn’t put down if I tried. I actually hissed at my boyfriend who tried to take it out of my hands because of how far I had fallen in love with it. AE writing style was fantastic. I completely adored her use of words and how everything flowed together, especially the plot. This was my first time reading A.E Murphy and I have fallen in love with her use of words. The perfect Enemies-to-lovers romance.
————————————————————————-
I think a little piece of my heart will always be with Immy and Kane. This novel went from past to present, but my god, the transformation between these characters was astonishing. I was amazed by the end in how much these angry lovers had changed. It was so beautiful, so tragically beautiful their story was.
————————————————————————-
What a deliciously, beautiful, and torturous read.
————————————————————————-
I am going to give this novel 5-vicious-stars!

Loved this book every time I pick up an AE Murphy book she kills me. This was no exception.

It has my two favorite tropes enemies to lovers and second chance. Immy and Kane are toxic in the best way. Kane is Immys childhood bully turned reluctant friend turned lover. Then Immy disappears without a word and doesn’t return to town until her grandmothers funeral. Once immy arrives Kane immediately seeks her out and secrets are revealed that they may not overcome.

The drama is high in this one and I loved Kane and Immy snarky nasty banter. They were truely vicious to one another. I love it when characters fight like cats and dogs and love even harder.
Another win for AE Murphy 🖤

3.5 stars.

Spoilers

4 stars the first 60%. I loved the bickering between the cute kids, the toxic relationship and the fights when they were teens, I found it all hilarious. The love scenes were hot, and they had incredible chemistry!

“You’re so ugly you make my eyes want to roll to a different planet,” he hisses in my ear after yanking my braid and pulling my head back so hard I almost tip backwards.”

2 stars for the last 30%, because the book takes a nose dive and it turns into this secret baby goes missing trope. I hate romance novels with kids, but that’s just me.

I also really disliked how everyone sounded like uneducated hillbillies, especially the hero.

No cheating
They were apart for 8 years and they had other lovers, but never loved another.
No ow drama.

Safety gang safe.
Main characters don’t cheat But a secondary character cheats.

“Even our mutual hatred couldn’t destroy our bond.
A bond that shouldn’t exist.
A bond that makes no sense.”

Once I started this read I couldn’t put it down.
Immy and Kane are the epitome of hate to love and second chances.

They meet each other at 8 years old where his hateful words and actions begin towards her. They are both stubborn and fight each other whenever they can. Both are hurting and neither feel lovable.
Kane has endured heartbreak in his past while Immy continues to live in a volatile home.
Their relationship grows as they get older and shocking events occur.
I did not see a huge twist coming at all.

The banter is fantastic and all of the side characters add several layers to their story
It switches from present to past and is done so smoothly.

If you love enemies to love with all the feels and surprising twists then this one is for you.

“Give me your fucking eyes, Imogen.
I need to know you hear me.”
“I hear you.”

Immy is coming back to a town that has wrapped up her heart and tossed it away. Sure there were good memories, like the one that she first loved, but there's also bad memories, loss and a hard childhood. But it's time she faces those things and says goodbye to the one that started it all.

Kane, is for all intense purposes the bad boy motorcycle club mechanic bully. But there's more there. He won't give her up, until she absolutely means it. He just doesn't know what she's faced when he wasn't around.

This book will rock you, twist you and fix you all back up. It's a rollercoaster ride worth taking as long as you bring tissues.

Points I laughed, got angry, cried and loved. Lots of hot chemistry and a bully romance combined with enemies to love'.

Definitely worth the read. I hope Poppy gets her own story with HEA.

**Recieved the arc directly from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

I am so happy for the ending.

I wish Matthew would have been better. I hope that he eventually can fix his relationship with his twin.

I'm such a sucker for this kind of angsty toxic drama lmao.
I started reading this a few hours ago and didn't stop until I was done. It was definitely a rollercoaster and I love that I didn't guess the mystery of where she'd been. That took a whole fucking turn lol. I feel like that could have been a whole book in itself.

"I don't know d**k about love, but I know that I love you." - Kane Jessop

This is not your typical love story, which is exactly what I have come to expect from Murphy. Ever since I first discover her works, I have been continuously devistaed and amazed by the stories she tells and the characters that she brings to life.

This story is told from the POV of the FMC, Immy, but in both the present and past. Each chapter bounces back and forth to accurately portray the sequence of events leading up to the "big reveal". I personally and not usually a fan of this type of story telling, but in this case, for this book, these characters, and this story, it was perfectly written.

As always, Murphy touches on some tough subjects without going too over the top or graphic. The details that are present are necessary for the plot and are well researched.

I read this book in 2 sessions, only interrupted by my bodies need to sleep. I truly could not put it down. I just had to know what happened to the characters! If I come is give this book more stars I absolutely would and I will definitely be recommending it to others. You won't regret reading it!
