Leewood is already a fishbowl when you're a nobody. Nicky Lindy has been trying hard - perhaps too hard - to keep himself isolated so as to not draw attention to the fact that his mother is the Secretary of State to a President whose politics represent everything that he opposes. Grappling with his mother undoubtedly having her eyes on a bigger prize, Nicky's senior year of college is thrown into overdrive when he does the most foolish thing he's ever make friends. The friends he makes awaken all kinds of feelings he's spent his entire adolescence suppressing, while things in Washington make it even harder for him to pretend like he isn't who he is. His privacy is invaded, his heart gets broken, and he's faced with a dangerous situation that no college student - or person, for that matter - should ever have to face. But, hey, that's politics, right?
