The authors offer a richly illustrated overview of the Netherlands' distinguished graphic design history from 1890 to the present day. From the 'Nieuwe Kunst' at the turn of the 20th century through De Stijl and postwar graphics to the contemporary avant-garde, they present a feast of visual imagery.
Since it’s first settlement in Indonesia and all the way through the mid of twentienth century, the Dutch have given a big influence to the way the Indonesians live - in a lot of aspect (good and bad). The influence is really big, actually. Everything from language to law system I guess. I did not realize how many words I thought derived from Sanskrit or Malay when actually it was absorbed from Dutch.
I myself really enjoy discovering these things. Three and a half centuries are a really long period, that even until today we’re still discovering things from the past that have not been discovered before (such as, lately, the government are discovering really old Dutch wares under ground of the street of Pintu Besar).
The Dutch have given big influence in the way we live, but it also happened vice versa.
