Circumstance has left Finn McNeill without a place to stay. Which means her only option is the spare room of rugged firefighter Shane Dwyer. Soon Finn's burning question is--should she act on the attraction smoldering between them? The tension's simmering, the chemistry's sizzling and the flames of passion are licking at their heels! Perhaps one secret white-hot night will be enough to put out the fire?
Irish author Trish Wylie wrote more than twenty books for Harlequin before becoming an Indie author. She is a three times Romantic Times Reviewers Choice award winner and was a finalist in the HOLT, EPPIE, Booksellers Best, Golden Quill and Write Touch Readers Awards. She lives in the north west of Ireland on the borders between the beautiful counties of Fermanagh and Donegal with her four-legged family but when at all possible likes to hop across the pond to New York, her favorite city in the world.
I couldn’t resist a book that has my favorite trope on it. The brother’s-best friend-falls-for-younger-sister trope. Some may find it tiring, but I find it comforting. And when it’s done, right? Amazing! But unfortunately, I didn't love it as much as I loved the last two books in the series MacAllister's Baby and Mistress on Trial. This is one of those books where the heroine almost... almost ruined the book for me. There's a fleeting moment where I wish Shane would find someone and get married and live happily ever after, and then Finn will be with her librarian. There's a line where I totally agree with her.
"Well, then realistically she didn't deserve him."
That's freakin' right, babe! You didn't deserve him! Not one bit! He's better off without someone like you!
Oh, well, enough of that! Okay... What I loved most about this series because it was the heroes who realized their feelings first, and the heroine was the one who actually had commitment issues. Refreshing from all those tortured-I-can't-commit-heroes! And although the heroine annoyed me most of the time, I can still honestly say that the chemistry between Shane and Finn was off the charts! The sex scenes were steamy and smokin' hot!
Overall, The Firefighter's Chosen Bride was a great read despite my annoyance with the heroine. And besides, I have so loved this series, and I would highly recommend it to everyone!
Hypocrite isn't it? Alasan kedua adalah profesi Shane sebagai pemadam kebakaran dimana Finn trauma setelah kehilangan ayahnya yang berprofesi sama dengan Shane. 2⭐
4 Stars! ~ Finn McNeil believes in disasters, bad things DO happen and they happen to her. Setting fire to her own home is right up there in the disaster department even if it was an accident. Living down the fact that she’d used a glass of vodka to douse the flames will take her a lifetime, as her father was a fireman, her brother is a fireman and his best friend is one too. So now Finn is homeless, and moving in with her brother and his best friend is her only option. Shane Dwyer is too sexy for his own good; his tall gorgeous looks and just the whole way he fills out his uniform screams babe magnet. Finn’s had a crush on him for a while, but she refuses to get involved because one; he’s her brother’s best friend and two; he’s a firefighter. Living under his roof, sparks their attraction and Shane is determined to shake up Finn’s resolve and break through. Shane’s been more of the love’m and leave’m type, but with Finn he can see forever if only she’d budge a little.
I love Ms. Wylie’s sense of humour! Hanging her big underpants in front of her fireplace to dry, and then throwing the burnt out candle ends into the fire creating sparks, and then trying to douse the flames with what she thought was water but turned out to be vodka! This is a scene that could have been out of I Love Lucy or Bridget Jones. :) Finn is a tall curvaceous girl who often feels frumpy; she’s always competed with her brothers and carries that competition with Shane as well. Shane is delightful. He thinks he has it all planned out, only for Finn to throw in a few screws to make it all so much more complicated. And yet behind all the fun are two very hurt people who have a lot of pain to get past before they can find their HEA. I thoroughly enjoyed this one! Well done!
THE FIREFIGHTER’S CHOSEN BRIDE was amazing, moving, spirited, and the two main characters Finn McNeill and Shane Dwyer just “jumped” off the page and grabbed your attention immediately.
Everyone who reads this will fall in love with Shane……he’s handsome, sensitive, funny, generous and sexy as sin. He considers the men he works with his family and knows that his best friend’s sister, Finn McNeill is off limits. However fate has other ideas for these two and when they are literally thrown together, just sit back and enjoy the ride and their story.
Finn McNeill has a secret….she’s always had a crush on Shane but because of his occupation she shies away from him. You’ll learn she lost her dad at a young age, as a firefighter he passed away in a fire. You heart goes out to her as she struggles with these deep feelings and her love and attraction for Shane. It’s very powerful and moving. As Trish states, “When you love someone it's a risk. It always is. But that's just life. You’re the one who has to make the choice and live it." Personally, I took that risk and married a firefighter and I cherish those memories along with him and our children.
This particular book meant a lot to me as my husband was a firefighter for over twenty years and Trish has portrayed the profession and the brave men who choose it in an honest, honourable and believable way. This author has obviously done her research and it showed in this book especially what it means to the man, to the woman he loves, his family and friends. It is a brotherhood of amazing men and women and I thank this author for this amazing story.
This was the first Modern Extra I read this year, and my first ever book by Trish Wylie.
Trish Wylie has a talent for creating characters that soon become real friends for the reader; you'll imagine that they have lives off the page, and you'll end up caring about what happens to them. From the get-go, Finn is a strong heroine; someone whom the reader will no doubt identify with. And Shane? Even an ice-maiden would melt when faced with this sexy fire-fighter.
The author pulls no punches and tells life like it really is. The emotion is raw and heartfelt throughout, resulting in a few wet tissues as the story reaches its climax.
Ya ampun..shane dan fin cute bgt sih...sama2 saling suka tp gak ada yg berani jujur karena fin trauma dgn ayahnya yg seorang firefighter yg meninggal pas tugas, sementara shane gak berani ngedeketin fin karena adik temen deketnya sendiri dan shane juga firefighter Pas rumah fin habis kebakar, mau gak mau fin harus tinggal dirumah kakaknya eddie yg juga kebetulan serumah bareng shane,wkwkwk..eddie tanpa curiga ninggalin shane dan fin berduaan aja sementara eddie malah memutuskan pindah kerumah pacarnya Karena berduaan aja shane akhirnya gak kuat trus nekat buat ngedeketin fin, padahal dia tau kalo dia terus nekat bakalan dimusuhin sama temen deketnya sendiri dan dibully sama rekan kerjanya.. Shane sweet bgt deh ❤❤ Buku ini menarik bgt buat dibaca, recomended buat pecinta harlequin
