Rocketeer: The Complete Adventures, by Dan Stevens, includes two stories that are essentially one story, but are separated into to two - go figure.

The first story is the origin of how Cliff Secord got the rocket pack, and as a result, he's being chased by the government, while also having relationship problems with his girlfriend, Betty.

I thought it was okay, it wasn't too exciting and I barely cared about the whole girlfriend subplot. The way it ended felt a bit silly for me.
6/10

The second story follows the events of the first one where Cliff goes to New York after his girlfriend, Betty.

I liked this story a tad more than the first one, due to the fact that you learn about Cliff's past, there is an intrigue/mystery, better action and not a lot of focus on Betty.
7/10

Overall, gorgeous artwork, but it's okay at best

Dave Stevens is a comic book legend and the Rocketeer is his best work that catapulted him to legendhood.

Plot: The story is set in 1930's USA, Cliff Secord, a stunt pilot, comes across an experimental engine pack that he can strap to his back and fly at 200 miles per hour. There are spies from Germany and USA who are trying to get their hands on the engine. While all this is going on, Cliff's love interest Betty (so gorgeously drawn and inspired from Betty Paige) is being wooed by sleazy Hollywood agent who wants to take advantage of her. The entire story is such a fantastic adventure and the 1930's setting just makes it even more engrossing and beautiful to watch.

Highly recommended.

Well that was so much better than I expected. A perfect homage to the pulp era - he even meets Doc Savage's crew and The Shadow (all unofficially of course). The art is remastered so I'm not sure I like the inking on this edition, but everything is dynamic, fast moving and bursting with snappy dialogue and character that it doesn't matter too much.

A fine throwback to an older classic comic, this will sit nicely on my growing comic book shelves
