Great read. We called native American Indians savavages. I contend they were principled people who lived a lifestyle long destroyed by our founding fathers!
The Last of The Mohicans tells a story of a man who is part of the Mohican tribe. His name is Hawkeye and his brother who has a hard name to pronounce attempt to save the last girl of the Mohican tribe. The only problem is that the girl was kidnapped and is in one of the busiest city's in the world, New York City. The Mohicans brothers come together and have to leave home in order to save Her from the city folk. I like this book because it gives a very good understanding and story of how these Native Americans lived and how they were treated. I also liked this book because the native Americans had to adapt to the new city they lived in. I hope that this wasn't too much of a spoiler.
Definitely better than the Classics Illustrated version, but still not as good as the Marvel Illustrated version by Thomas. The story flows much smoother than in the other and the art isn't as bad, yet there are a couple of extremely jarring details, such as that Hawkeye in dressed all in red (!), which for a trapper by trade is a huge "no." Red is too visible in the woods, and doesn't help in camouflage and blending in, which is key in that environment. Besides, why exactly does his attire look so similar to Robin Hood's? And the other is that Major Heyward is dressed like a Bluecoat of the later American Revolution, when he should be in red as was the uniform of his regiment.
Found this book on the shelf at grandma's house and read it over the a couple of weeks this summer. It was required reading in grade school. I loved it then and I think I've grown to appreciate even more with age. It's a classic that every American child (and adult) should read.
this book is a good book once you get past all the bloode and gore. the book is better then the mivoe they made. over all very grat for middle school kids.
