Rob Liefeld is an American comic book writer, illustrator, and publisher. A prominent artist in the 1990s, he has since become a controversial figure in the medium.
In the early 1990s, self-taught artist Liefeld became prominent due to his work on Marvel Comics' The New Mutants and later X-Force. In 1992, he and several other popular Marvel illustrators left the company to found Image Comics, which rode the wave of comic books owned by their creators rather than by publishers. The first book published by Image Comics was Rob Liefeld's Youngblood #1.

So, Deadpool's thirty...and boy do I feel old. I still think of Deadpool as being a "new" character....and yet not only has he been in a bajillion comics but he's also starred in two major motion pictures! (What do you mean he's been in three?! It's definitely two. Two. Only two. That one doesn't count...it never happened...we don't speak of it...and neither could Wade).
I was fourteen when Deadpool first appeared, and while I didn't pick up his first appearance at the time, I did pick up his second in the pages of X-Force, and read his first solo mini series...and have very fond memories of picking up his first solo series and talking nonsense on the Comic and Anime Forum on AOL with its writer, Joe Kelly...who had a strange obsession with Poi. And while I certainly took a long break from everything Deadpool, I loved his most recent solo series with a fiery passion.
But Deadpool is one of those characters you naturally develop a love/hate relationship with. I mean, sure, he's awesome, but he both reached and passed saturation point long before Ryan Reynolds put on the red and black spandex suit and converted a whole new generation to the church of DP (hehe...DP...). So, yeah, I always liked Deadpool, but I was never one of those people... *hides Deadpool t-shirt*
Anyway, this is supposed to be a review and not a stream of consciousness trip down memory lane...the two stand out stories in this collection of weird and wonderful Deadpool shorts are the ones by Kelly Thompson and Daniel Way, but, really, it's all just a lot of fun...and I'm honestly still not over the utterly bonkers first story by Joe Kelly.
If you like Deadpool, you'll like this. If you don't like Deadpool then you're probably just allergic to pouches or something.
4.25 That was pretty fun. I wasn't there from the get go in '91, but I think one of the comics that propelled me from casual reader to comic fanatic worshipping at my local comic store on the one true holy day of rest on Wednesday was a Deadpool and Cable comic by Mark Wade in '94. So I've been "there" most of the way. Ugh...that makes me feel old. Not a regular reader, but I enjoy a good, Deadpool tale...when it's good.
**Addendum: I looked it up. It was a straight up Deadpool miniseries from '94 by Waid and Churchill. Was that his first miniseries? I still have that book in my storage boxes. Is it worth anything now? Lol.

Some of the more popular writers and artists got together and collected some new Deadpool shorts to add to this 40+ page celebration. (This is a fun little collection of stories. Hopefully it gets thrown into a Deadpool anthology and kept for posterity.)
Bonus: Liefield back drawing OG Deadpool brings back the memories. Either Liefield has gotten better, of he DIDN'T actually draw Deadpool. The guy has regular sized ankles now? Ha.
Bonus Bonus: Deadpool's daughter makes another appearance. We even get an Agent X moment. Remember those years?
I loved seeing some of my faves making appearances here! This is literally just a celebration of deadpool yall, don't come in here expecting a bunch of genius character arcs in these pages lol
A one-shot with multiple short Deadpool stories taking place more or less on his birthdays across the years, written by a host of all-star writers. Most are quite enjoyable with my favourites being the ones written by Joe Kelly, Kelly Thompson and Gail Simone.
