Simon Goodenough, the authors name, exceeded it by being great enough. hey, he's the writer not me. The many maps showing the progressive movements of armies and lends a different perspective than the written word and a few maps. Much can be gleaned looking down upon the action from miles high. As a map lover I was encapsulated by the town's, the movement arrows, and the distance in miles. Maps are vehemently studied in real conflicts like this and now we have the opportunity to do so. Also the time line of battles and maneuvers becomes clearer. What a great book. The book of maps ends where world war two ends. With the atomic bombings of the island of Japan. If this book was a woman I'd marry it!

An outstanding collection of WW2 maps presented by theater of operations and campaign. Many are higher level, and some are pretty granular in detail.

Highly recommended for anyone with a general interest in WW2 history.
