There were so many characters. I like his journey, but its was just not really something I would read. I am not very versed on all of the God's and their jobs or relations. It was not bad.
I read this for an adult education class I took this fall. I remember loving the story of the Odyessy as kid, but it was the monsters and action that captured me. This translation attempts to recreate the language, imagery, and values of the original epic, but in doing so, make it a rather slow and confusing read. (I think I spent as much time reading the footnotes as I did the poem itself.) It has motivated me to go back and re-read other myths and it did serve as a great discussion starter in the class.
