The Myth Busters don't take themselves overly seriously and so it's hard for you to take them too seriously, either. This is a light-hearted and fun book. Less James Randi and more Shaggy and Scooby. In fact, it's not easy to decide whether this is fiction or based on events.
There are four cases investigated in this book: Clapham Common, a ghost in Melbourne, Bunyip and big cat in Australia and the Roc.
I'm not a believer in the supernatural, but I do find the topic fascinating and like a shiver as much as the next person. However, not all of the cases really stack up. Clapham Common is indeed spooky, but the account of the creature isn't convincing. The Melbourne ghost is something I can find no trace of online. Bunyips seem an unlikely creature, but the occasional big cat on the loose in Australia I have no problem believing. The Roc is definitely more than a bit dubious.
The Myth Busters were probably before their time in some ways. Their antics would have made for a belter of a podcast. As a book, it's entertaining, if a bit slight.
