There are simpler books, but this is still a fairly early reader. It would be hard to introduce Ramadan in a shorter or simpler way. Answers What, but doesn't even try to explain Why or anything like that.

As I did not know much about Ramadan and was curious, I read "Ramadan" by Julie Murray. This is a basic primer of the holiday, which is geared to young children. It was a good start for the info I was looking for.
