Enhanced World #7

Mirror of the Sun

Rate this book
Together, they might stand a chance.
Divided the world might never survive.

Richard, chased by the memory of losing his entire team in Syria, agreed to help his younger brother Talon, in an attempt to forge bonds between them that had been broken when Talon had transformed.

Adam, terrified of the team that had given him a chance at life, finding out what he had done. Would it result not only in losing the family he had always wanted but never had, but the real risk of harm to those not expecting it, and knowing he was going to be forced to choose between the two?

Sawyer, torn between the real possibility that his ability was out of control, and terrified to admit it even to those who had always had his back, was secretly being drawn to both the warrior that might save the world, and the innocent that might have to sacrifice himself for it.

And the very real possibility that the evil they faced would defeat all three.

Bullets and Babies!

Victoria writes about guys loving other guys in between dodging bullets, kidnappers, and serial killers. She enjoys putting them through hell to get their happy ever after—it’s a character flaw she embraces.

She also believes that family is who you choose, that dogs are often much wiser than human beings, and that we’re steadily destroying the world we live in.

And if people read more books, they'd be much happier.

While I should have done a refresh of the books that came before (that's on me), this was a very enjoyable book! On one hand, we have Adam, who deserved better. On the other there's Sawyer, who deserved better. And on the third hand is Richard, who deserved better. And together they manage to get through the mystery, their personal hardships, and their own hangups.
I think this book really adds to the series, and I'm glad we got it. And it can give me the excuse to re read the rest later

Loved the first books but the last two just didn't work for me. Honestly it doesn't even feel like it is still the same author who writes is these books...

Sad that this book was a true hot mess. Multiple errors in character names, story all over the place, zero relationship building. Had to skim through the last 30 percent and it really wasn’t worth it.

Oh that was a great ending! 4,5 stars!
So, final book in a series I love, that's bittersweet tbh. The last part was really really good as well as how the romantic part was portrayed. Not always a triad is well written but I've been lucky the last few times I've read a book with that kind of romance and loved it. In this case we see more the build up between Sawyer and Richard since it's shown that Adam and Sawyer are already there, except for Adam's head space, and there is where the Richard and Adam dynamic goes.
I was really glad there was low angst romantic wise (there is communication), I couldn't have enjoyed it otherwise.
On the other hand, this book is really there to finally put an end to what started in Five Minutes Longer with Dakota and everything he represents shall we say. The only thing that made me not round up the book was that there were a few things that were confusing and not real clear while reading: a few POV changes, names, and a couple explanations. There were a few things like that in the others books too and I couldn't let it pass in this one being the last of the series. I still love the boys and will reread the books until my kindle falls apart but I usually notices this things because I have the memory of an elephant.
Overall, the book delivers: Great finale for a great series! There's going to be another book (compilation) at the end the year and there are some hints about possible spin-offs, what more can I ask for? XD

I loved it. As with all her books it is a great read. The way everyone came together and helped each other, especially the way Richard was able to help Sawyer and Adam helped Richard and how their relationship came full circle was amazing. This shows that family doesn't have to be blood, but to be there when you need them. I just hope that the butheads will finally leave the team alone and let them live their lives and let them help those in need. Can't wait for more Enhanced books to come out after the An Enhanced Wedding and other stories.

Update 6/25/2024: I tried reading this again hoping beyond hope that perhaps my perception had changed. Nope. It still makes very little sense.

You can read my updates if you want to know why I’m rating this so low compared to others in the series.

A tutti buona lettura e a presto.

Richard has the demons of losing his entire team when in Syria but has agreed to help his younger brother Talon in an attempt to forge some connection between them after they were broken when Talon transformed to an Enhanced. Adam is enhanced and terrified of the team he is in finding out and losing everything and everyone. Enhanced Sawyer is terrified that he has lost control of his enhanced skills and can't tell anyone (including his team/family) and is currently being drawn to both the warrior who might save the world, and the innocent who might have to sacrifice himself for it. There is also the very real possibility that the evil they face will defeat all three.

Wow - all three men deserve more than they think they do - but it takes all three to provide the level of love and care that they all deserve. I loved that Sawyer finally had someone to love him and understand exactly how he works and the challenges he faces. Adam had no sense of self-worth and just settled for anyone who wanted him until he realised that he was worth more and that he just had to be brave and take it. I just wanted to hug Richard with his survivor's guilt and explain that he owed it to his team to live his life. A great finale to the series. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MMM story with mature content.

Mirror of the Sun is the final book in the Enhanced World series, and it should not be read as a standalone. This book brought all the boys together in a fantastic finale full of action and romance. One thing I have enjoyed about all of these books is that they have plenty of plot to keep me entertained along with the emotion-driven relationships.

It was great seeing Sawyer finally get his story. Bringing Adam and Richard into the picture really brought out a side of his character that had been hiding, and it was a pleasure to see him open up. Adam gaining confidence and Richard trusting himself again added that extra element to their triad, making the whole relationship click.

With the story bringing in the younger generation, I’m hoping for a spin-off, but it was so exciting hearing from each of the characters in this found family from the H.E.R.O.s unit. Everything came full circle, and I can’t tell you how many times my eyes misted up. If you’re a fan of the series, this is definitely a must-read. I’m anxiously awaiting the audio now, as I had just done a relisten to the entire series just before picking this up.

Happy Reading!

3.5 stars-- There was so much shoved into this book, that it was confusing at times. And I feel that having a polyamorous relationship on top of such a complicated plot really needed more space to be developed. In this series, everyone needs therapy for varying reasons, some of which are more traumatic than others. For whatever reason, Talon and Finn have two books focused on them, but everyone else on the team and their partner(s) only got one book, but I really think two books per romantic relationship would have been better (other than for Sebastian and Gray, as one book worked for them). Anyhow, Sawyer, Adam, and Richard in particular could have seriously used a second book, since their HEA felt extremely rushed. I get that the plots are more important than the relationships in this series, but even the plot felt rushed in this book.

All in

Aaahhh, I’ve missed this world! The action, the suspense, the fantastic sci-fi/urban fantasy combo, and of course, the amazing found family that is our team. I love it all so much and don’t want to say goodbye but who better to send us on our farewell tour than Sawyer, Richard, and Adam.

“It wasn’t even that, despite not wanting to get caught up in anything that should definitely have a Do Not Touch label attached because of work, it was simply because, even if he got the chance, he didn’t want to have to choose.
Between either of them.”

I claim them as mine! They are beautifully different and fit together like they were made for each other. Gah, how these three pulled at my heart, made me sigh, gave me shivers, and wholly delighted me. Their dynamic is irresistible, their commitment unyielding, and above all, their hearts are all in. I am beyond ecstatic with everything about this conclusion, which I will not share details as you must experience it for yourself. If you’re a fan of this world, grab this as soon as you can and be ready to devour it. Then read it again to savor it.

I think I should have done a re-read of this series or at the very least some kind of refresher. There are a lot of characters from past books that are part of this story, which is really great, but it's been so long since I've read this series plus I have read more than a few hundred books since that I had a bit of trouble keeping all the characters straight at the beginning but that is totally on me.

Once I got things straight in my head I loved this final instalment! The only quibble I do have is that it is the final instalment and I really want more. I'm not ready for this to be the end!

There is a series of shorts An Enhanced Wedding and other stories coming in Oct, YAY! Can't wait!

QUICK THOUGHTS

• Paranormal
• Polyamorous relationship (loved it)
• Drama/mystery/adventure
• Characters from previous books play a part
• So many characters it confused me a bit
• Great family/friends
• Great bunch of kids
• My only quibble is this is the final book
• Loved the MCs... Adam, Richard & Sawyer
• The poly relationship was handled really well
• Couldn't put this down
• Satisfying ending
NOT a stand alone

Why is there a Jake and a Jacob? Why are there two unrelated (as far as I can tell) Ramsays? There's a Sam and a Samuel. A Daniel and a Danny. I don't understand, with all the names that exist.

I will say, the author seems to be English but also seems to have a very in-depth knowledge of Florida. I'm not sure if she lives there or not, but either way, the research is incredible.

Great series overall, and I realize that my aphantasia could be why things got so convoluted for me. If I were picturing things as I went along maybe I could've followed more easily. Anyway, aphantasia notwithstanding, I very much enjoyed these stories and characters.

When it comes to this series, I actually cannot decide what I enjoy more, the romances or the insane world and all the Sci Fi centered action happening in it. It has been a while since I have been in this world, but it pulled me right back in. Richard, Adam and Sawyer, now this is a fresh dynamic of three. The suspense and goings on around them just seem to solidify their relationship even more. I believe this is the end of the series, so I am not going to give any plot away! Grab the boxset of the first books, or even the audibles and catch up because this is definitely a series read!

The final book of the Enhanced World series, Mirror of the Sun, is a captivating read. While it's always sad to bid farewell to beloved characters, Richard, Alan, and Sawyer's relationship is portrayed flawlessly. Despite the initial challenges they faced, they eventually built a strong bond based on mutual trust. The book offers a perfect blend of mystery, romance, and emotional turmoil, as each character's perspective is explored. I was hooked from the first page and couldn't stop reading until the end.

I have forgotten how much I have missed this world & will need to do a re-read of the entire series. We have Sawyer, Adam & Richard navigating their pasts and working with the rest of the team to clear their names. In addition, they are working to be a committed relationship. We have someone(s) who is framing the team for crimes they didn't commit. I really enjoyed the investigation. I can't wait to see where the author goes from here.

So I had a really rough time with this story. I was really looking forward to Adam, Sawyer, and Richard's love story. However, I feel they got lost in the rest of the plot, which was very busy on its own. I feel like maybe there should have been two separate books here so that the author could have taken their time with both the live story and wrapping up the overall villians that have been plaguing the series.

This is one of the best of the bunch. This series is so good, I have missed reading about the HERO's and this book was amazing. I'm not always a fan of mmm books but this one was written so well and these three guys came together so naturally. Hopefully we won't have to wait so long for the next one, I love these guys.
