Unreasonable story with a jerk who acted like a drama queen. I don't understand Edric,he made himself like a fine glass china doll.Meh ! And his power ? Dafuq ! There are witches in this book, maybe vampire and other supernatural beings in next books too ?
I liked this third book in the series. It's been a while since the second volume, but the underlying story came back to me pretty quickly. The repeat-information was just enough to remind me, and would also be enough of an intoduction for anyone who picked up this book first or just wanted to read this one. The hint about a network to help abused omegas at the end of the last book became a reality in this one and set a nice framework for future stories at the same time.
As for the guys in this book - well. At times I wanted to bash all of their heads in because they were so immature. Blaine, the Alpha, and his two Betas Colin and Rowan probably took the cake. I mean - talk about an idiotic lack of trust, never mind no ability to apply basic logic. Edric held up pretty well, had a backbone, at least, and I loved how he stood up to them after they hurt him so badly.
If you're looking for a light, fun read and don't mind idiotic main characters, are interested in ususual omega abilities or just want to know what happens next in this series, you will probably like this book.
I enjoyed the first two books very much, but this one really turned me off. First of all,the long prologue with like a dozen detailed letters from all of the abused Omegas was awful because I knew only one of the horrible situations would be "fixed" in this book. Ugh. Then Edric has to go through terrible confrontations with multiple people before the big ceremony, which I thought would be great since he'd connected with that circle. Then . I just never recovered from that and hated the guys for having done that to him. I know he made them work hard for forgiveness, but not sure he should have forgiven them. I wouldn't have. Like another reader said, I really hope the next one's better.
typical joyee flynn serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical joyee flynn? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.).
out of sheer laziness, i will be using this as my template for all books by : joyee flynn sunny day lynn hagen stormy glenn scarlett hyacinth carol lynne gabrielle evans
unless otherwise noted. i'd apologize, but i'm not sorry. i figure it's about as much time as they put into their books. dammit! well, i made it all the way to the end being rather moderate in my assessment. that's a win
3.5 rounded up to 4. I'm not sure how to describe this book. Parts I really liked and others I wanted to bash someone's head in, trouble was I couldn't figure out which one to do it too...
Refer back to my review for "Tristan" as almost all of Joyee's books fit the comments. They are great for first-time readers who are dipping their toes in the M/M genre. I remember that I enjoyed her very much and her works sent me on a search for more. As I munch through this series you will find similar postings.
It's a light and quick read. I enjoyed the beginning scenes where Edric was getting the chance to makes decisions for the first time in his life. And his initial meeting with the two inner circles were well done and thoughtful...even rather funny when the nasty alpha got punched. Even the four men at the carnival type events was fun and the author did a nice job showing how much the guys enjoyed themselves.
Then the trip to Blaine, Colin and Rowan's pack occurred and the bottom fell out of the story for me. Yes, I expected something awful to happen to cause problems. I didn't think the alpha and betas would react so badly, turning angry and hurting Edric so badly. I felt their reactions were over-the-top and I suddenly didn't like them much. Edric on the other hand I liked throughout the story. Only his loving heart and desire to make things right with his mates salvaged the story...also the three big guys groveling didn't hurt either.
Firey Omega flees punishment that was supposed to be his rescue
Another entry in this often simplistic but oddly compelling series, this book packs plenty of menage heat with its cheesey but oh so wonderfully escapist entertainment. Of course, an Omega in need of rescue is at the core, and the relationship and dialog is as simplistic and sparse as ever, but the overall Omega story grabs my interesting. It follows the formula of abused Omega, Omega/Inner Circle conflict, and an ultimate showdown with the real bad guys. I assume most readers enjoy the heat the most, but I really find the trite rescue/make-up sex/save-the-day formula to really work as an entertaining escape for me.
I love this series. There are 11 books available right now and I have them all and there is definitely enough characters and story for more! The author takes full advantage of the fiction genre and comes up with some fanciful stories and relationships, plus there is enough angst with the Omega they each should have their own full-time psychologist, instead they have 3 hot, sexy men to help heal them.
Hot - all the stories are m/m/m/m and full of angst, sex and love. The overall story line takes a big twist in #9.
Poor Edric has been neglected and abused most his life. He has experienced nothing of the world. When he is saved from his uncle by the Omega Network he still needs to find his alpha and circle. Because of the short time they have they don't know each other. This all leads to misunderstanding and hurt feelings. Edric and his men are very typical of the series and a lot of Flynn's books. Good read:)
I still think that for a story with that many characters books under 120 pages are not quite enough. The misunderstanding spoiled all the mood and made the whole start of new relationship laced with huge injustice.
The hints for possible future books in this one are quite interesting. Another question: why from all the stories and abused Omegas mentioned here Edric was chosen first? I hope it won't be too long before the next story comes out.
I enjoyed this third book in the series. This story didn't strike me as inane as they sometimes can and I really liked how Edric stood up for himself against all of his mates. I liked his super cool omega powers even more! Blaine, Rowan and Colin were typical men in that they didn't stop to think before jumping to the wrong conclusion, shouting accusations and behaving like children. All in all a fun read!!
I enjoyed the journey Edric made from abused young man to a man capable of standing up for himself and demanding respect. I also enjoyed the lesson Blaine, Colin, and Rowan learned the hard way, not to judge someone without finding out all sides of an accusation. Ms Flynn has penned a good romance with characters who change and grow and a plot that is enjoyable to follow.
I like the idea behind these stories more than the stories themselves at the moment but I do believe they're getting a little better, both in the way they are written and in their content. Will definitely keep reading but it's a casual, when I'm in the mood for it thing.
I cringe when erotica (and others) name drop other erotica author's names in their story. Edric was reading a Stormy Glenn ebook. It just seems weird and takes me out of the story.
