Good book, you can learn a ton about guns and how they are made, sniping and how it's done, as well a brief history of snipers through the years. Very informative book from very knowledgeable authors.
I was looking for a book that was a story about snipers. This book wasn't it. This is an extremely technical books with lots of charts etc. This goes into details on the weapons used, from guns to scopes to bullets and on and on. As far as the technical aspect goes, this is a winner. A book about snipers it was not.
I read this for research, and it's fairly interesting even for the non-enthusiast. The authors have done quite well in breaking down dry and comprehensive information into readable chunks. For a book that's been out so long, and now in a new edition, there are quite a lot of grammatical errors - missing words in sentences, an incorrect word (e.g. diffused instead of defused).
Informative and detailed. What you would expect from a special operations SEAL team guy. It was written well and he used laymen terms to describe much of the detail. Everything you want to know about snipers from the mind of one of the best trained snipers in the world.
Learned a lot about ballistics and weaponry. Very technical read. Quite interesting but not really an adventure story. Recommended with the caviate the it's a manual, not a story.
I was totally surprised. I thought this book was going to chronicle the life of a sniper. Rather, the authors manifested the technical side; the snipers equipment. I had no idea the number of different options there are for the Sniper to pick from. Great book!
