I won this book via Goodreads Giveaway.
I’m foregoing a rating on this because I have mixed feelings and I also have not finished the book.
I love the concept. It’s extremely interesting and well developed. The author spent a lot of time thinking about the complexities and details of the entire scope of the universe which is really cool. The 7 series are awesome.
On the other hand, I am struggling to read this. The combat scenes might be because “hard military sci-fi” isn’t normally my scene, but I found it hard to follow. The writing often seems very dry. I didn’t feel like there was a lot of description of certain things that would make it more immersive for me personally.
I want to know how it ends but I don’t know if I can get through the latter half.
Great idea, execution just isn’t blowing me away

I won this book via Goodreads Giveaway, and here is my review

You can definitely tell Edwards’ has military training, and is well versed in combat and terrorism

I agree with the one line of description of this book: "This would make an amazing movie", ★★★★★” Independence Day comes to mind!!!!

Very hard to follow though! The conversations do not sound like “Military personnel”. The writing often seems like it is not real, or forced. The action scenes were well executed (hence my reference to making it into a movie) Many times you really do not understand what is being undertaken until a description is given later in the book. Sometimes the things being conversed aboutdo not make sense in that conversation, and it is not until later you realize they were actually lies. The betrayal parts are great!

The ending really had a twist!. The book is a good fit for sci-fi and military

Disclaimer: I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This book was a mixed bag for me. I liked the cast of characters, but they often had odd dialogue. Rather than having a chapter explaining the history of events, technology, and how it all works, we end up with wooden conversations explaining it to us throughout the book as a whole. When we finally got to action scenes, what was happening was pretty cool, but there was very little description about all of those little moments in the battle. I think the ideas that are in this book are so awesome, but the execution was just a bit off for me.

Twists and turns

A story that is mostly science fiction but also some mystery and a little horror. Enjoyable and interesting but the ending never really wrapped things up.
