All I want to do is move on from my divorce and take care of my daughter. Struggling to get my accounting business off the ground, my only solace is video games and chatting online with my longtime gamer friend.
Then I met Logan Cullen. Logan’s a struggling parent too, but there’s something about him that feels so familiar. Neither of us have time for a relationship, but no one said being a single mom meant I couldn’t have a little fun.
LOGAN
Hockey and my nephew are the only thing I care about. I don’t have time for a relationship.
I knew it was a bad idea to fall into bed with Lily, but she insists on it only being some casual fun.
Something about her gives me déjà vu. Maybe it’s because we share the struggles of single parenthood. Or because we’re both video game nerds. It’s getting harder to remember we’re just casual when she’s my literal dream girl.
The Philadelphia Bulldogs hockey team are back, in this all new-standalone novel. Books can be enjoyed in any order. If single parent romance is your catnip, this is the book for you.
Danica Flynn is a marketer by day, and a writer by nights and weekends. AKA she doesn’t sleep! She is a rabid hockey fan of both The Philadelphia Flyers and the Metropolitan Riveters. When not writing, she can be found hanging with her partner, playing video games, and reading a ton of books.
Logan and Lily’s story is one that will make you believe in soulmates. These two are truly destined to be together. Being a “nerd” myself and having tons of friends I’ve made on the internet over the years, I loved that Red and Flower connected via a video game and knew each other for years before eventually figuring out that they knew each other in real life. Also, the Halloween costumes and the cosplay-inspired spicy adult time were icing on the cake to this story! It’s apparent that Danica understands gamer culture and this book is truly a gem.
You’ll love this book if you like: • Friends to lovers • Hockey romance • Single parent(s) • Found family • Gamer/nerd culture
I love Danica writing she always pull me in with her stories. Logan and Lily as such an awesome couple even though they fight their attractions for each other. Friends to lovers is not always my favorite trope but these to made me ok with it because I felt more like they were meant to find each other after years of gaming with each other. I struggle with some of the plot of this books because the situation would never really happen in the real world.
This is a great single parent - hockey romance. I love the ties to gamer culture. This is well written quick read. The evolution of Friends to lovers was written in a way that made sense and helped cultivate the chemistry. Also the spicy scenes with Halloween costumes... so good!
Logan, the male lead, is a successful but not yet secure hockey player who inherited custody of his nephew when his sister died. He’s been looking for a new nanny but he’s struggling because most candidates seem to think they’re applying for a wife position.
Lily, the female lead, made a partner selection mistake that she’s still paying for - her now ex-husband started a relationship with her whilst maintaining a committed relationship with her now-friend Veronica (the female lead from the previous story in the series). Having now realised what a scumbag her ex is, she’s still trying to share custody of their daughter because she wants her daughter to know her father.
As a series of life events causes Lily and Logan to run into each other regularly, they both feel like they’re familiar with the other. Maybe because they’re in a similar life position, maybe because they both enjoy console games, but they both know they don’t have time for a real relationship…
This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and an awesome addition to the series as a friends to lovers, contemporary hockey romance. I enjoyed the relationship development and how multilayered it was. I enjoyed Lily’s recovery from her previous relationship and her compassionate personality, demonstrated by her genuine kindness towards her ex, in the face of his absolutely lack of consideration. I enjoyed Logan’s care for his nephew and his determination to break the cycle of abuse he and his sister were raised in and Logan’s nephew started in. I enjoyed the intimate moments. I enjoyed the integration of secondary characters - something that has been a great part of the entire series - and the way secondary characters provided true input and support throughout the plot.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
This hockey romance story is unexpectedly charming, with a sweet single dad, a hot mess single mom, and a friends-to-lovers romance. The story is realistic, including the single parenting hardships, the professional athlete's inconveniences, and the bonds over simple things that bring joy. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
Logan is an honorable guy who takes his single parenting seriously. His nephew is his world, and the unexpected way he became his father is tragic. However, I love that this new adult hockey player took responsibility. He may play professional sports but is a little nerdy and loves playing video games.
Lily is a recently divorced single parent to her daughter. Oh, now I see her connection to the inner workings of the hockey team. There is some interconnection between her and Logan, but I love that they haven't figured it out yet.
The author truly brings the realistic side of single parenting into this story with no sugarcoating but doesn't focus on it. I love their practical, sometimes geeky dating, and the moment they both realize this is more than just casual.
I love that the author carried the video games and character traits through the entire story. The end of this story is delightful, and it was an excellent read.
Logan Cullen is 24 and plays hockey for the Philadelphia Bulldogs. When his sister died in a car accident two years ago he gained custody of his 2 yr old nephew Liam to raise. His struggle is keeping a nanny to help him care for Liam. He doesn't have time for relationships and he is trying to make sure he gets a new contract after the current season ends as he wants to stay in Philly. He also loves to play video games.
Lily Mathews had a baby, got married and then divorced within 2 yrs. She found out her husband was cheating on her but she ended up being the other woman and this isn't the first time. She is struggling to get back on her feet, living with her mom and trying to get her accounting business off the ground. She doesn't have time for a relationship and her solace is playing video games and chatting online with her longtime gamer friend.
They have mutual friends and go out ending up as friends with benefits with both thinking they can't do anymore than that. They realize things seem really familiar and easy between them and finally put it together that they have been friends for a long time playing a certain video game.
Will they see that they can be together or stay just as friends?
Team Ginge for sure! “Game On” is a sweet, charming and heartfelt romance with two single parents that just captured my book loving heart.
Logan is on the Philadelphia Bulldogs and unexpectedly became a single Dad to his nephew after his parents were killed in a car crash. Struggling to find a nanny to help care for Liam, he’s at his wits end. Lily is a newly divorced single mom to Rosie and is struggling to get her career going again after having her daughter. The two have mutual friends in the Bulldogs world and also in a different world too.
I loved this installment in the Bulldogs series and has become my favorite. It is so relatable and realistic in so many ways and I just connected right away with it. Logan is just a sweetie and caring for his nephew is just a big challenge and he took it on without hesitation. I loved how strong Lily is. Restarting her career and caring for her daughter since her ex doesn’t even try. The struggles both of them go through are so real and I loved how they were connected through being single parents and one other way. The steamy scenes were great and just fit them both so well. Liam and Rosie are so cute and such a special part of the story. The last few chapters were great and wrapped up their story perfectly.
I thoroughly enjoyed every page of Game On. Logan and Lily are such a cute couple and were definitely meant to be together from the beginning although they both denied having feelings for each other.
Another thing that I loved was how Game On is different from most, if not all, of the romance books I read. There was also several parts throughout the story that I could relate to.
One of my favorite parts of the book was when they went to the bar arcade.
This was one of my favorite quotes from "Game On"
"You weren’t supposed to miss your friends with benefits. Or get giddy when he texted you asking how your day was. Your heart wasn’t supposed to do backflips when you saw him again, even if it felt like it was for a minute before he was back on the road again. You certainly weren’t supposed to long for his touch. Shit. I fell for Logan, and I was so totally screwed."
The ending was perfect but I'd love to see another book featuring Logan and Lily as they move forward in their relationship picking up where the epilogue ended.
P.S. When you're reading "Game On," see if you can spot the connection to another one of Danica's series. 🙂

Lily just wants to move on from her ex and raise her daughter, Rosie. She is trying to get her accounting business off the ground, is living with her mother until then. Her outlet is playing video games with her online friend. She meets Logan who thru a friend, he is struggling with being a single parent and his hockey career.
Logan has custody of his sister’s son, she and her husband died in a car accident. He feels like he has no time for anything beyond his hockey career and nephew. There is something about Lily that is familiar, but he cannot put his finger on it. They both agree they do not have time for a relationship but start spending a lot of time together.
Can they just be friends with benefits or will the lines blur as the children become special to each other? I loved this pair, they tried to be honest with each other but they failed to be honest with themselves thru most of the book.
Lily is a gamer, now divorced with a young daughter and scummy, cheating ex husband. She is an accountant trying to get her business up and running and Seth is rarely in the picture. Logan is uncle to 4year old Liam and carer, following his sister's death. He is a gamer, an upcoming NHL player and struggling to get competent and professional nanny. This is a well matched couple who hide behind being friends with benefits, with Logan insisting that is all it can be.They discovered that they have been game player partners for years. It seems Lily is prepared to accept what is offered and her past mistakes do not seem to alter her behaviours. Feelings are denied, yet everyone can see beyond their friendship. A relationship lies beneath the denials and eventually Seth's actions brings thi gs to a head..it's natural conclusion is for them all to be together as a family.
Plot trope: single parent, hockey, nanny, similar hobbies.
This wasn’t bad but neither was it fantastic. Finished it with mixed feelings. It was a decent read, but it lacked something unique to make me love it.
Maybe it’s the chemistry or banter that seemed to be missing from the hero and heroine, or the fact that they seem to know each other for the longest time as gamer friends but said gaming and bonding online was not shown to us to make it easier for me to relate to their romance.
Hero seemed too good to be true and he was too perfect to the point of being boring. Needed more emotional bonding between hero and heroine and less screwing.
One thing that set it apart from other hockey books was that the hero and heroine were gamers. That was interesting but other than that, this book could be better.
Feel good story about single mom Lily who is trying to regain control of her life after her divorce, raising her daughter Rosie by herself as the dad a real tool...she is trying to get her accounting business off the ground, but does have friends in her gaming community which she uses to ease some of life's stresses...Logan became a single dad after his sister died in a car accident, a newer player for the Bulldogs hockey team, who is searching for a nanny without much luck, as most applicants want more...like a "wife" position...He also uses online gaming as stress reliever, knowing Lily from their chats...but will their fates align??? Lots of support from characters the reader is acquainted with from previous books...I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.
I absolutely love this book. Video games and hockey, I don't need to say more. I truly loved how the game Lilly and Logan had been playing for years brought them together in a safe environment, even if they had no idea who they really were. The gamer culture in the book was well written. The Halloween costumes, what a cute moment. I enjoyed how much Logan cared for his nephew, and the new future he wanted for him. It also did a good job of making their parenting realistic. Overall, it was a well written engaging book. I highly recommend it. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Well written, witty, entertaining hockey romance with so much more. He's a hockey player trying to make sure he gets a new contract after the season so he can stay in Philly. He's raising his nephew after his sister died in a car crash and having big problems finding a nanny. He's also a gamer that loves dragonsphire. She's a divorced mother who's trying to get back on her feet, starting a accounting business and living with her Mother. She's a gamer especially dragonsphire and has been playing with one gamer since high school. This is their story. You won't want to put it down.
Sooo good could not put it down. Well written fun to read you won’t be disappointed to chose it.
Logan is a rookie NHL player who got custody of his nephew after his sister death. Lily is a single mother after her husband was cheating on her. Both avid game players they have that and more on common.
Lily and Logan are endearing. I liked that Logan wasn't your typical hockey player but a "nerd" who loves hockey and video games. Their love for their respective child/nephew and the importance of putting them first makes us love them even more and brings them closer together. Like all of Danica Flynn's books, captivating story and makes us live a lot of emotions. To read!!
A hockey romance with the greatest friend/family group that will not only give you the spice you want in a romance, but will also pull at your heartstrings. Both of these characters have been through so much, both are single parenting unexpectedly, and both are just trying to stay afloat. I loved this book so, so, much. You’ll love it if you like: – hockey romance – single parent romances – gaming – friends to lovers
Lily and Logan work hard at being friends and occasionally helping one another with childcare. But Logan has known loss and Lily is working hard to get ahead. These two love and care for each other and operate as if they are in a relationship. Just takes them awhile to figure it out. Sweet single parent story.
This 🔥book 🔥 has something for every reader! 🏒Hot hockey player 🤓Smart accountant female love interest 👨🦰A ginger male love interest 👶Single mom meets single dad 🎮Gamers 🧝♀️Cosplay 🫶Friends with benefits
Romance level: open door Single parent romance. Cheating ex, custody issues, finding and making time together. Cherishing time at home together. Friends with benis may not be the romance start everyone loves. Best read within order of the series.
Game On - Philadelphia Bulldogs book #6 Standalone story in a great series.
Logan and Lily are both single parents, with little personal time, so they decide to scratch an itch. No strings attached, just having fun. Well, I bet you can see how that will end! But the journey towards it is very satisfying. Lol! I loved how Logan took care of his nephew Liam and treated both little Rosie (Lily’s daughter) and Liam as his own. Great story!
