Designed specifically for trainers, speakers and group facilitators, this book features activities - games, quizzes, energizers and brain-teasers - to break the ice at the beginning of any meeting, or to recharge participants on the brink of boredom. The activities require little or no preparation and most can be completed in less than five minutes.
While a number of the activities in this book seem a little dated (the mention of things like OHP doesn't help) or are too long (and/or cheesy!) to be used at training workshops, I think there are enough suggestions that provide seeds of ideas from which one can build potentially useful activities. When running multi-day workshops, it can be tricky keeping the energy of some of the delegates high enough for them to take in the course material, this book has added a few more ideas to my toolbox.
As this book's focus is on Icebreakers and energizers, it does not provide in-depth de-briefs, questions for discussions or extrapolations of what one could perhaps be learnt from doing the activities so you have to apply your own creativity to make the activities relevant to the topics or themes at hand.
