When Richard Paul Evans wrote the #1 best-seller, The Christmas Box, he never intended on becoming an internationally known author. His quiet story of parental love and the true meaning of Christmas made history when it became simultaneously the #1 hardcover and paperback book in the nation. Since then, more than eight million copies of The Christmas Box have been printed. He has since written eleven consecutive New York Times bestsellers. He is one the few authors in history to have hit both the fiction and non-fiction bestseller lists. He has won several awards for his books including the 1998 American Mothers Book Award, two first place Storytelling World Awards, and the 2005 Romantic Times Best Women Novel of the Year Award. His books have been translated into more than 22 languages and several have been international best sellers.
This book is about the author's journey in writing, publishing and promoting the best selling story, The Christmas Box. Although he had no intention of publishing the book in the beginning, it eventually became a source of healing for hundreds or more, especially for those that have lost a child. I have not read the Christmas Box yet, but I was able to follow and enjoy this book perfectly. This book is more about the divine intervention involved in the creation of The Christmas Box. I believe this book shows that sometimes we have a greater purpose in life that we may not understand. It was a quick read - read it in a couple of days and glad I did. The book is meant to be inspirational, and in its own way it was, but I also enjoyed the look into the process of book publishing and promoting.
Coincidence or Divine intervention? In my review of The Forgotten Road a few days ago I wished RPE had written an autobiography. On my next trip to my library there it was - I had missed reading it previously as its title was so close to The Christmas Box I thought I had read it. It was another little book proving faith and determination can overcome any adversity. Filled with stories of his growing up in a large family that wasn’t always a bed of roses. He shares his blessings wherever he goes and in whatever he does. A true humanitarian. I think I’m going to have to re-read A Christmas Box as it was the first book of his I read and have now read all 28 of his others!!
I had no idea what to expect when I opened this book. Evans's story is very heart warming and helps one have a firm hope in finding purpose in life and achieving it through the Lord's means and in His time table. It makes me want to read his Christmas Box story.
I loved this little book. It made me think about all of the miraculous moments in my life. I think we could all benefit from reflecting on our God directed moments and understanding His plan in our lives.
Legit finished this is two hours cause I couldn't put it down! I love love LOVE books like this because they are so inspiring and it puts things in perspective. LOVED IT!
Let me first say that this is not a book I would have sought out and read on my own. It was given to me as a gift, and sat on my bookshelf for a few years until I finally read it with my husband. So, I can sum up this book for you in one sentence: "I wrote this little book called The Christmas Box and it was phenomenally successful, and everyone loved it, and I am awesome, and oh yeah, I can't take any credit for it." That's about it. If you looooved The Christmas Box then you'll probably like this book. Otherwise it will most likely come across as self-aggrandizing and obnoxious. On the upside: it's a short book, and there were one or two interesting bits that I would definitely classify as real-life miracles. But, I still don't think those made reading this whole book worth it.
There are many aspects of this book that I enjoyed. How a person stuck to the things that he felt he should do and did them. How he published his very human short comings. Yet another recurring theme of how a book wrote itself. The spiritual side of this whole story was refreshing and encouraging. The idea of writing a book for the sake of writing a book without having to write it how other people might want you to write was very awesome as well.
I used to read The Christmas Box every Christmas until I read this book. Although he may not have meant to boast about the number of books that had been sold, it came across that way to me. It really ruined the Christmas Box for me.
It was interesting and inspiring to read about his personal journey with writing the Christmas Box. I was pleased to hear about all the good he is doing with his sucesses.
This book is a history of how the author Richard Evans came up with the idea for The Christmas Box. The Christmas Box was a fictional story, but elements of that story were formed from some of Evans life events growing up. I would definitely recommend reading The Christmas Box before reading this book because it would make a lot more sense.
I had read the Christmas Box a few years ago and thought little of it a few years later. In fact, I don’t even remember what it was about even after I read the summary. It had little impact on me, but according to The Christmas Box Miracle there was a huge religious pull towards the book and it helped with grieving parents. Luckily, I’m not a grieving parent, so I just thought it was just another Christmas story that made me cry.
I thought the history of the book was interesting. A lot of the stories that he told do seem unbelievable, but I do believe in miracles so I guess they did happen. What are the chances that a small novel like this would gain so much popularity without a little help from the God above? My second thought was that he took way too many chances with money and maybe if he didn’t switch jobs every two months he would actually be able to provide for his family and get out of debt. Stop quitting jobs! Be responsible.
The Christmas Box, the book that started this whole thing, was a good book. It was written by a man for his two young daughters....for them and a few close friends and family. What happened when it was passed around to friends of friends, more relatives, was amazing. But this book, The Christmas Box Miracle was quite possibly one of the best, the one that warmed my heart, made me cry, helped me appreciate my fellow human beings. In the midst of all the craziness that's going on today, this book really helped. People are vulnerable. This book is about people helping other people, people who are hurting and don't know where to turn for help, answers & closure. This book has touched so many, many people. I would suggest starting at the beginning. Read the Christmas Box, then this one. They are both very quick reads, and I know, especially at this time of year, it's Dec.10, a short, fleeting 2 weeks before Christmas, with so much to do, when would anyone have time to read? It will be worth it, I promise. I really do hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
This is a story about a story. This is how author Richard Paul Evans, wrote his national best selling book, "The Christmas Box".
The book starts out with his not so humble beginnings and moves to a place of humbleness. Along the way, he finds profound spiritual nudgings that eventually lead him to write his first book. This will lead to multitudes to find solace in a book he was never going to publish. It will also lead to a charity and movement beyond the book.
I read this book in one sitting and now want to read the book that started it all.
This book gets 4 stars from me. Disclosure: I own a copy of this book and the views expressed here are 100% my own and may differ from yours. Michelle
I was hoping this book was like all the others by Evans. I do not like memoir’s and this seemed much like one. I do not like people writing about themselves. The book The Christmas Box was a good book but really no better than any of his others. This book dimmed my view of Evans because so many times he seemed to be bragging about how special he was. God uses humble people and he did not come across as humble. Also in the account of events he seemed to fail to follow the main lesson of the book in that he was never home. He also wrote in the book that it was a message for father, but if anyone read The Letter they would know that it was Mary that left her husband and wasted all the time. I actually wish that I wouldn’t have read this book.
Well since this book is one of the best I've ever read, I can't wait to read the actual book. I had breast cancer 3 years ago, and was so blessed that my surgery and chemo treatment were so easy, with no pain and no side effect. Shortly after my surgery, my daughter found out that she too had breast cancer. Hers was much worse than mine, and she suffered a great amount of pain. Now my granddaughter has found a lump in her breast. She's only 30, so I am looking for something to give me some hope that God will spare her. So I will end this now and find the book and start reading. Thank you.
This was an account of the writing of “The Christmas Box.” It follows then to the effects that resulted and impact this book has had on thousands of readers. God has used this book to bring healing to many who have lost a child or who were unplugged parents. I have read “The Christmas Box” but I would like to read it again with the insights I learned from this book. Thank you Mr. Evans for following God’s guidance in the writing of these books and the publishing of them. Obedience is everything w God.
For anyone who’s read and loved the Christmas Box this book is a must read. The Christmas Box Miracle takes the reader through Richard Paul Evans experience in writing the Christmas Box. We learn what his inspiration for the book was, his journey from writing it for his daughters to self publishing it, to it becoming a worldwide bestseller. Best of all he shares the stories of so many people whose lives were touched and changed just by reading his wonderful little Christmas story. It’s been 10 years since I read the Christmas Box, but now I’m about to go read it again.
When I began this book, I thought I'd be inspired, after all, it was written by Richard Paul Evans. I just finished it and all I want to ask is "why"? Did he just want to tell us about all of his good works and good fortune from his juggernaut first book, The Christmas Box?
I gave it two stars instead of one because I love the idea of the miracles and healing that happened to people after they read The Christmas Box. Anything that helps and heals a wounded soul is worthwhile for me. But, that is not this book, which comes across as self-aggrandizing.
This book was not quite what I expected. The first 100 pages are an autobiography, and it is apparently a prelude to what lead up to writing and then eventually publishing the book called "The Christmas Box." I have not yet read The Christmas Box and am a bit reluctant to read it because it is going to be a real tear-jerker. For now I will make a mental note to recommend it to anyone who has ever lost a child to death.
Evans tells about how he wrote his book and how it became a phenomenon. Lots of miracles happened along the way! I think I read "The Christmas Box" years ago, but I'm thinking I need to read it again now to see why it has been a life saver for many parents who have lost children. Evans seems like a nice, humble guy. But when I was googling him, something disturbing came up. I really hope it's not true, because if it is, this whole thing is discredited. For now, I will be a blissful believer.
A quick read, and intriguing. It's interesting to see how the book "The Christmas Box" became such a national phenomenon. I re read "The Christmas Box" recently, and it is a sweet story. It's interesting to me, just how many people it "changed their lives" and how many spiritual experiences happened to people because of this book.
I love Richard Paul Evans books. I read the Christmas box years ago and gave it away. After reading this book I ordered another copy to read. I cried reading the Christmas box miracle what an inspiration.
Once again I could not put the book down and bid I am disappointed that I don’t have another one of his books handy to read.
After attending a high school choir performance at a local cemetery, I wanted to learn more about the Christmas Angel statue that was mentioned...when the people that had lost children brought white flowers to the angel, I didn't know the story so I borrowed this book from my local library to learn more. Very touching.
I have as of this date 📅 read at least 12 of his books. I have loved them all. When I start one I can't put it down. I intend to read them all. I have recommended him to several friends and all the ladies at the library. Keep the faith....I believe God has blessed you from the Christmas Box to all the rest and in turn blessed us all .
My wife read this first and then made sure that I read it.....as I got into the book I began to have some concern over how much of this was fiction....or were there really incidents of paranormal activity. I did enjoy the book and the message that it set forth. Would recommend it to any reader.
Having been a fan of THE CHRISTMAS BOX since it released many moons ago, I was thrilled to find the story behind the story. An absolute treasure about an absolute miracle. Knowing the good the book has done . . . and the Evans family has done with the proceeds . . . restores my faith in humanity.
A nice Autobiography on the author and his accounting of writing the Christmas Box and the aftermath of it being published. He is very straightforward and honest about his life and yet he still has that inspirational and sentimental twist to his writing, even in this nonfiction book.
