A very interesting read of a families ups and downs through 2 generations and set on various continents. Giving an insight into the now past trade in Ivory. Controversial nowadays maybe but at the time depicted in the book was totally acceptable.

i loved this book - really different underlying subject matter, coupled with a bit of romance
