ONE copy of Complete in Colossians 1:24–2:23 📜 Verse By Verse with John MacArthur 📖 Grace to You Series ⛪ 264-Page Softcover Book ⛪ Grace to You Series. Do we really mean "Christ alone"? ... The young Colossian church was facing the same types of questions when the apostle Paul wrote to them. He soundly affirmed that they had Christ—so they needed nothing more, be that high-brow philosophy, religious mysticism, legalism, or asceticism. John MacArthur exposits Scripture’s own defense of the believer’s full and sufficient provision in Christ — even when the world is clamoring otherwise, and when you feel woefully inadequate. Join him to learn why you, as a believer, are wholly Complete in Christ ... Fortify your soul against the subtle allure of the "something" else, and find everything you need in the unparalleled, glorious person of Christ — and Christ alone. John F. MacArthur, Jr. was a United States Calvinistic evangelical writer and minister, noted for his radio program entitled Grace to You and as the editor of the Gold Medallion Book Award-winning MacArthur Study Bible. MacArthur was a fifth-generation pastor, a popular author and conference speaker, and served as pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California beginning in 1969, as well as President of The Master’s College (and the related Master’s Seminary) in Santa Clarita, California.
Finishing up this Bible study with 2 friends. We have been going through this study for a few months. The study is based on a series of messages from John MacArthur through his exposition of Colossians 1 and 2. I have a better understanding of this passage and am grateful to have worked through it. It was easier to listen to the sermon first that went with the chapter and then work out the questions. The chapter on Philosophy was particular helpful and also the section on spiritual intimidation.
The reads like a sermon transcript and probably basically is. I do like that the cross references are all printed out in the text so you didn't have to flip around but could follow his train of thought. May be helpful in leading a study though it doesn't cover the whole book of Colossians.
