The illustrations are numerous and engaging, and the bite sized facts are just right to keep kids interested.

Pity there is no picture of this book, it's one of the better junior reference titles out there on the subject, from Usborne, which published so many great children's books back in the day that formed lasting memories, predating, and a predecessor to, DK books. Aimed at younger kids I imagine, being more drawings than text, but what beautiful hand drawn illustrations of scenes from the beginnings of life right through to human evolution. This last was given a little more attention, consisting about a quarter of the book, charting the descent of primates from trees to the appearance of various Homo species. However, our knowledge on this area has advanced significantly in just a couple of decades since then, so there are some inaccuracies and outdated information. Notwithstanding this, it is still a wonderful and worthwhile introduction for kids to the amazing history of life on our planet.

Četla jsem česky (velmi dobrý překlad). Co na knize oceňuji nejvíce je způsob jakým jsou fakta prezentována. Nejedná se o pouhý popis jak to ve kterém období vypadalo, ale co vedlo ke změnám (klimatu, stavby organizmů, způsobu života,...) a co následně tyto změny způsobily. Pro laika, chtějícího si oprášit znalosti z dějepisu ideální...
