Bloom's Taxonomy: A Forty-Year Retrospective : Ninety-Third Yearbook of the National Society for the Study of Education, Part II

Rate this book
The classic work of Benjamin S. Bloom, Taxonomy of Educational Objectives, The Classification of Educational Goals, Handbook 1: The Cognitive Domain , still serves as an important reference for adminstrators and teachers at all levels of education. This volume analyzes the underlying reasons for its lasting importance.

The contributors authors evaluate the taxonomy within the context of a specific topic in contemporary educational study. They compare the historical period in which the taxonomy was developed to the present educational milieu and discuss the likely future of education in the United States and the world at large. Specific topics are philosophy, psychological perspectives, empirical studies, validity versus utility, teacher education, and curriculum planning. Two chapters are devoted to the applications of the taxonomy in Asia, Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East.
