I've never made light of the fact that I love this author and I especially love her longer SIM books and this one though a bit off in the beginning, climbed in my ratings later. The heroine is a secretary from Brooklyn who is on a tour of Europe and she goes to this small country she had heard about from her grandparents and is mistaken for the soon to be coronated queen. The hero is a prince, whose niece is going to be the queen and when she is kidnapped he asks the heroine to be pretend to be her. Yes, the whole imitation drama was a bit hilarious. The hero is a by-the rules royalty who doesn't know how to have fun and let go but the heroine isn't instead she finds a lot of the royal protocols stuffy and doesn't see how she will fit into the hero's life, when he expresses his growing feelings for her. I found the book dated but still fun.

A Prince of a Guy (Korbel Classic Romance Humorous Series #3) by Kathleen Korbel A Prince of a Guy (Korbel Classic Romance Humorous Series, Book 3) By: Kathleen Korbel & Eileen Dreyer
Is It The Royal Treatment or Treated Royally?!
Wow! Talk about the ROYAL Treatment!
She's visiting the country her Grandfather hailed from expecting to connect with her ROOTS...
What she's NOT expecting is becoming part of the tale!
However, that's exactly what happens when she's mistaken for the Princess, & then said Princess turns up missing...
Soon she's embroidered in the plot Sooo deeply she doesn't know if she'll ever make it out again!!
Especially, considering she's fallen for the story's Prince!!!
Will they find & Rescue the REAL Princess...?!
Will she get a HEA with her Prince, or is this just a Vacation Story with an expiration date...?!
I was granted an ARC of Kathleen Korbel & Eileen Dreyer's "A Prince of a Guy (Korbel Classic Romance Humorous Series, Book 3)" via Booksprout; I recommend this book to others based upon its own merits. All opinions expressed within this review are uniquely my own & freely given!
Until next time... Happy Reading!

Dreyer's princess out-does Disney's

I loved this book I love Eileen Dreyer's writing. She's a grande dame of romance writers in the '80s, and her stories still read fresh thirty years later. A Prince of a Guy is a modern fairy tale - a mash-up of the Grace Kelly true version and the old french fairy tale,. The prince/hero hails from the tiny, wealthy independent Alpine principality of Moritania. He's about to yield the throne to the rightful heir, his niece Cassandra, as soon as she's married and legal entitled to rule. He's been the perfect Prince Regent, having acted as his country's CFO as well as CEO, and he's as handsome and noble and good, as a fairy tale hero must be. The kicker is the heroine: a tell-it-like-it-is secretary and night school student from Brooklyn, USA. Compared to our feisty, fierce Casey, a Disney princess comes off like the weak sister. Casey and the Prince meet when her car strands her at the border and the guards mistake her for Princess Cassandra, and call Prince Eric to rescue her, and... I don't do spoilers, (and it's a pretty well recognized plot anyway), but Dreyer's polished prose and wicked sense of humor imbue the heroine and her story with class, sass, and badass in equal parts, and smother it all in snarky ,steamy, sexy (but non-explicit) romance. HEA at the end, a total stand-alone, (although some of the villains escape to cause trouble in a future novel), and a nice spin on a timelessly entertaining trope - this is classic romance.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I really enjoyed reading this story about Eric and Casey. She's a secretary from Brooklyn and won a European vacation. While away with her BFF Sandy, she sees that they are close to the country where her great great grandfather was from, so she stops in for a visit. So imagine her surprise when her car breaks down and at the border no one will look her in the eyes as they speak. Eric is the crown Prince of Moritania and his niece Cassandra is going to be crowned queen, but she is missing. So image his surprise when Casey shows up at his country's border, a doppelganger of his niece. There is an instant connection, but they have to hide it. Since Cassandra is missing/kidnapped, Casey steps up and helps out by impersonating get at several functions. The leads are not turns up any real answers, so Eric take things into his own hands. One evening at dinner when caviar is supposed to be served, they find out all of it is missing from the pantry and the local store. Eric starts to speculate on where the caviar has gone missing two. Following his instincts and Casey helping out they hope to get to the bottom of the mystery. Lots of action great characters and lots of heat. I definitely recommend reading the stories very well written. I really enjoyed it.

Every time I read a Korbel Classic I love it, and I love A Prince of a Guy even more than the last one I read.

Casey is a woman from Brooklyn on a free trip to Europe when she decides to visit the tiny country of Moritania, as she'd heard from her family that at one time a distant relatives had ties there. It's where she meets Prince Eric, the man to whom she is immediately attracted. When he comes to her with a proposal that she impersonate his missing niece, the Crown Princess, she's really not sure it's such a good idea. But, she wants to spend more time with Eric, and it seems like it might be a fun adventure. Falling in love with Prince Eric though? Definitely not something she ever planned for.

I'm not sure how many more Korbel Classics there are, but I hope there are more because they're all so charming and sweet. Vintage though A Prince of a Guy may be, it's well-written, highly entertaining and Eric and Casey make an adorable, sexy couple.

This is one amazingly emotional romance! 💞😍😭💞

This book is one of my favorite romances of all time. I have read it several times and each time gets me right in the feels.💗

Casey wins a trip to Europe from a contest and decides to visit the country named Moritania. She's heard stories from her family all her life and didn't believe them but she wants to at least get her passport stamped there. When she ends up at the guard station the guards seem overly concerned for her and they call for "Eric" to get her. It's a case of mistaken identity and a fairie tale coming true. 💕💓😍💓💕

It's well written and developed and the author decided to leave it as it was when it was written in 1987. So it's a peek back to a time before cell phones, the Internet, and current world politics.💖

A wonderfully written fairytale type of romance. Casey wins a free trip to Europe and decides to get a stamp from a small country Moritania, where her grandfather is from and says they have roots there. When she is mistaken for princess Cassandra, prince Eric, Cassandra's uncle, comes to talk with her and shows her that she, Casey from Brooklyn, could be her twin. In the meantime princess Cassandra comes up missing so Casey is asked to act like her till the real princess is found. This gives the sprarks and chemistry between Casey and Eric to take off and blossom. I really enjoyed this story it has humor and some steamy moments to a wonderfully HEA. I also enjoyed that some off the villians can be used in future stories linking the standalones.

Casey is an American who is traveling in Europe and she comes to Moritania to see where her great grandfather came from and the guards don't speak English so they call the prince because they think she is the princess Cassandra. Prince Eric comes down and says what have you done now Cassandra and then realizes Casey is not Cassandra. Eric asks Casey to come to his home so he can show her something and he shows her a picture of Cassandra and they could be twins. Cassandra gets kidnapped and Eric and the Queen ask her to impersonate Cassandra until she is found and she reluctantly agrees and in that time Eric and Casey fall in love.

Casey wins a European Tour on a radio station and decides to visit the small country of Moritania just to prove to her mother that it's there.

And that's where the adventure of a life time begins.

Mistaken to be the crowned princess Casey and Eric (the real princess's uncle) realise that Princess Cassandra has been kidnapped.

Join Casey and Eric as they find the missing princess, find about Casey's true heritage and create a path of their future.

It's not an uncommon story but the ease with which the plot unfolds, the characters grow and story unfolds is amazing.

I would have given it a 3 star but the beauty & ease with which everything is presented deserved an extra star.

This one was just as enjoyable, fun, and entertaining as the first two books in this series. This one has a definite Cinderella, fairytale quality. After her car breakdowns, Casey stumbles into the guardhouse at the royal estate of Moritania where she is treated like royalty. When Prince Eric is called and comes to see what is going on it takes him a minute to realize that Casey isn’t who everyone thinks she is. And that is exactly what he needs to avert an impending disaster. That is also when all the fun begins.
How can you not be entertained by a secretary from Brooklyn, who just happens to have some royal blood, or so she’s been told, meets actual royalty and is mistaken for the crown princess? It’s refreshing, to say the least.

Casey comes to visit Moritania, where her great-great-grandfather set out from to emmigrate to the US. She meets Prince Eric, uncle to the future queen - with the coronation only 1 week away. He is stunned by her similarity to the Princess. When the Prince is appraised to the fact that the princess is missing, robably kidnapped, he asks Casy to help and act as the Princess. She agrees, not knowing how much her life will change because of that one decision.
Fun and entertaining, this is an enjoyable read to relax with.

Brooklyn native and humble secretary Casey Phillips becomes stranded in Moritania while on vacation and she ends being asked by Crown Prince Eric to impersonate his kidnapped niece Cassandra, the soon to be next queen of the country, while they secretly search for her. This was a Prince and the Pauper Cinderella fairy-tale instant love romance with a European prince and an American girl whose family may have ties to the throne. There were a lot of humorous moments in the book and I’ll be interested to see if bratty Cassandra is a more likable person in the next book.

Reminiscent of ‘Mills and Boon’, truly emotive with suspense and humour too – what more could a romance fanatic want? Possibly royalty or mystery? Yes, this book honestly takes the reader through a romantic and emotive adventure, filled with wonderful characters and a beautiful backdrop. Well written and fully engaging, romantics will love the way this book catches the attention from the first page and holds it until the last.

Well done, Ms Dreyer, for writing an outstanding romance story with oomph.

“A Prince of a Guy” is a charming story with hints of a Cinderella story, mistaken identity, lots of misunderstandings, humor, and of course romance. Written in the 1980’s when times were simpler (life without the Internet, cell phones, and data websites), this book will touch your heart and bring a smile to your face. And just like fairy tales, this could end up with a “princess” finding her happy ending.

This classic royal romance is a very enjoyable read. The story is very fun and even though this book was written years ago it still holds up quite well. This rollicking romp has an American woman filling in for a kidnapped Princess. Eric and Casey's book is cute, romantic, sweet and classically swoon worthy, this book is well worth reading! This is my totally honest and completely voluntary review.

Modern Day Prince Charming Meets Queens, NYC
This book was originally written in 1987. The story holds up well and is accurate for the time. This is a funny telling of a modern Prince and the Pauper type of tale with a great romance thrown in. It is absolutely believable. I have enjoyed this author's humorous romances and this is one of the best. I received this book for free and this is my honest review.

Not like previous book

This was a continuation of Book 1, & supposedly happening in the same time period. It was confusing to say the least since it seemed to end where the other book started. I think these books are numbered wrong. This should be read before The Princess & the Pea not after, it makes more sense that way.

This is the first time I have read a book by this author and it definitely won’t be the last. I fell in love with Caseys personality and how she kept Prince Eric on his toes right from the start. I couldn’t put this down and read it in one sitting. You won’t regret giving this a try.

Eileen Dreyer has written a delightful romance which has stood the test of time. Even today, this story is sweet, funny and engaging.

This story is set in 1987 and I'm assuming written in 1987, where a princess of a small European country has been kidnapped. I thoroughly enjoyed this throwback read as I grew up in the 80s and I remember the lack of technology. Rescuing a kidnapped princess (though this story is not about that) is very different when there are no smart phones, no social media, no Internet, no infrared photos from satellites and no GPS. I particularly enjoyed the part where Eric and Casey go off on a little recon adventure and Eric has to stop in the local post office to use their phone in order to check in with the palace. Talk about lack of technology when your only phone option is the public phone in the post office!!

Despite the fact that this story was written in 1987 and it has all the hallmarks of its time, I did not feel as though the story itself was dated. A love story is a love story, and this is no different. It is still a well written story of two people getting to know each other and falling in love.

There was only one thing that threw me, and it was the fact that they had unprotected sex. I was too young to know the norms of what was acceptable or not back then since I was only starting to read romance but I'm guess safe sex was not high on the priority list back then? I can't imagine a contemporary written today without even a hint of the mention of safe sex. It didn't detract from the story though.

Let's talk about Eric. Eric is one of those guys you want to take home to meet your mother. He's the kind of guy you want as a boyfriend or better yet, to marry. I read a lot of heroes since I read a lot of romance and while I love many of them, there are few of them I would want for a partner. The sexy ones usually have a bit of a$$h*** in them. Not so Eric. Eric is responsible, down to earth for a prince, kind, generous, funny and an overall great guy. He's sexy too if Casey's reaction to his rugby and polo playing honed body is any indication, but geez, he's just a great guy. Some girls may not like him saying he's too nice, but I like a nice guy and Eric is the quintessential nice guy. It's no wonder Casey fell so hard and so fast for him! I'd bring him home to meet my mother. :-)

Casey is adorable. She's caught in this situation where she's impersonating a princess in order to keep a country stable. She is such a fun heroine. She's spunky, funny and very level headed. She knows who she is and she's not afraid to be herself. I love that even with all the craziness of pretending to be a princess happening around her, she is able to maintain her equilibrium and you fall in love with her because of who she is as a person.

I'll also leave you with this seriously hilarious line which made me LOL while reading:

Somebody was using it as a cleaning closet, hiding brooms and mops and cleaners. Eric shoved Casey right in. "Stay here," he ordered. "If anyone comes along, make a noise like a broom."

This was such a fun read. I think I'm going to pick up the next book which features the kidnapped princess and read that too.

I loved the book. Cassandra who goes by Casey lives in Brooklyn but has won a paid vacation to Europe. Her great grandmother spoke some of where she came from in Moritania to Casey, but Casey was not sure the country even existed. Casey is driving her rental car and the car breaks down. As she is walking to find help, she notices a sing for Moritania and sees two guards there. She starts telling them about her broken down car, and can they help her get a tow truck. They will not look her in the eye, but place a call for her. A handsome man comes up to the guards where Casey is waiting and tells the guards that he will handle it. He asks Cassandra what she is doing pulling him away from his business. Casey is surprised that he knows who she is. He introduces himself as the prince, Eric with a few last names afterwards. He realizes that Casey is not Cassandra. He takes Casey back to his residence and show her a pairing on a wall. The women looks almost like Casey. The women is Eric's niece, Cassandra. After showing Casey around and talking to her, Eric asks Casey if she will step in as Cassandra as they are having an economic summit. If word gets out that Cassandra has been kidnapped, it could put the country in an economic decline. Casey is leery, but agrees to help him out. Eric has her friend Sandra brought to the estate along with their bags. To pass Casey off as Cassandra, they tell everyone Casey has laryngitis so she doesn't have to speak. Eric has his security looking for the people who kidnapped Cassandra. Cassandra is not well liked by the country and her servants. She is mean and rude to everyone, the opposite of Casey.

You need to read the book to see what happens between Eric and Casey. They have a few adventures, find out about long ago relatives, and get to know each other better. There are also some scary moments for Casey where here life is in danger. I love books about princes, kings, etc. I think some of that comes from the Cinderella movies I grew up with! I enjoyed seeing how Casey brought out Eric's fun side that he didn't normally have. Casey also got to see that fairy tales do sometimes come true. I received this book for free for an honest review from the author.

"3 out of 5 stars, while on an European vacation a woman decides to visit the small country that her great-great-grandfather was said to have come from and finds herself embroiled in the country's royal secrets very quickly. All because of her looks and one charming Prince who can't seem to let her go.

This novel definitely interested me in the beginning. You have a charming Prince (Eric) who has no intention of wanting the crown. An outspoken New Yorker (Casey/Cassandra) who is beautiful in her own right but also looks a bit like the Crown Princess (and basically has the same name) helps the Prince to pull off a scheme while falling for the Prince in the process. Together these two make a very cute couple and I enjoyed how Casey literally steps into the Princess' shoes."
