Why Think?: Philosophical Play from 3-11
We live in an ever demanding world where independent, creative thinking is highly prized. We want the children of the future to have the skills and confidence to form their own ideas, and have the confidence and resilience to speak up for what they believe in. Why Think? will enable practitioners of children aged 3-11 to confidently turn their classrooms into spaces where thinking, challenging and reasoning become as natural as play. In this book, the author of But Why? explores how to maximise philosophical play through activities, games and parental engagement. Why Think? Includes; Inspirational case studies; Facilitation techniques and information on philosophical concepts; A list of recommended books and resources, online quizzes, thinking games and useful web links; Question-board activities to stimulate daily thinking The book is visually interesting with lots of annotated sessions, drawings, photos, and ideas for resources. A must for all early years and primary practitioners.

Sara Stanley is a practitioner not a theorist yet she has the uncanny knack of understanding children as if she was a theorist. Based on her extensive I experience as a teacher and packed full of the voices from her classroom, this imaginative and inspiring teacher has produced a book which is the perfect antidote to Govism - I recommend it to all primary school teachers who want to know there is another way than that course the government is determined to set us all on.

Very clear, helpful and useful book. I am now more aware of the different activities that I might do in class, the rules, how to facilitate talking. lots of resources but also lots of dialogues that provide a concrete example of how to talk and question during the sessions.

Okay read - 2.5*
I definitely think it is useful for all primary school teachers to read because it has some very key theories/concepts for philosophy, I personally really liked the idea of philosophy homework, which engages the parent in speaking and listening.
There wasn't enough theory in this book and so wasn't that useful for my assignment.
