When the local newspaper goes on strike, the town is divided as friends and family members take sides, yet Gwen doesn't like what she sees and so plans to use her softball team as a first step to getting everyone to communicate once again. Reader's Guides available.
This details the falling apart of a family due to a local newspaper strike. It showcases people becoming irrational about other people, merely because they are on "the other side" of the problem. The situation is believable, and focuses on a friendship of two girls. I didn't feel like the protagonist had much to say, she was more reacting than acting. The diction and tone didn't work for me.
This is a great book about a pair of best friends that are separated by a fight between their fathers at work. I highly recomend it to anyone who plays SOFTBALL or baseball. Go RAIDERS!
