On the rebound from a failed relationship Katrina falls for wealthy Greek widower, Stefanis. Though only half his age, she marries him.A lavish lifestyle, sixty-foot yacht and a beautiful home in Miami are the envy of her friends and family, so when her relationship begins to crack, Katrina covers it up.Childless and miserable, she needs to confide in someone but can’t find the courage – until professional skipper, Brod, appears on the scene.During a two-week Caribbean holiday aboard her yacht with her brother and two close friends, Katrina realises the flaws in her marriage are too big to ignore.Brod is employed against her wishes by an absent Stefanis, who is away on business and wants ultimate control of her holiday through a third party. It’s a decision he will regret, especially when the sailing holiday heats right up compromising Brod’s professionalism.By the end of the fortnight Katrina realises there is only one man she wants in her life and she intends to do something about it.With suspicions aroused, Stefanis tries to find out what really went on, but skipper Brod has disappeared.Deceit, misunderstandings and lies make a bad situation worse and a forced move to the Greek island of Zakynthos for Katrina causes despair. When she makes a horrific discovery and becomes heartbroken in grief, she has to brave it all alone.Without money or a passport, there is only one way out and that’s on her yacht. But an insanely jealous Stefanis wants her back and nothing seems too high a price for him to pay to achieve it, as a harrowing chase on the open seas will prove.Set in the early 1980s, this fast-paced thriller is like a rough sea hurling Katrina between the peaks and troughs of romance and tragedy. Through all the shocks and surprises, it’s the whispering waters that prevail.

Well written!

An intriguing combo of romance and gripping adventure and suspense. The characters become real people on the pages as the story progresses and as an added bonus, you may learn a thing or two about yacht sailing

Listening to this book on my kindle while working made me want to go on a cruise, find a rich (old) man, marry him so he could buy me a yacht so I would no longer have to sit at work listening to books on my kindle, when I could be sitting on my yacht reading all the books I want.

But.......that's not what happened with the female lead in this story, she had no time for reading....hmmm. But again, I will take how the story took a turn for the better when she fell in love with the (young) "skipper" of her boat, yacht, sailboat, whatever.

Interesting characters, well thought out story, although I did wonder where Stefanos' family went to when they moved to Greece? I thought that was the point of moving to Greece, so she could meet his family, in particular his mother? I could have missed it of course, the drone of the kindle voice can sometime put you in lala land. But I think for the most part I heard 99% of this book.

You kind of expect Stefanos to go crazy at some point but I did not see a couple of the twists and turns coming.

I think this would actually make an outstanding movie.

At first I enjoyed the romance element of the book and especially the Greek and Caribbean settings. So far so good although at that stage I didn’t think the book was anything special. Then as the story progressed the author cranked up the pace and it became a full-blown thriller. The attention to nautical detail is praiseworthy and the writing simply flows. This is one book that will take you by surprise. I picked up on some of the twists but the ending totally caught me unawares.

Thoroughly enjoyable with an unexpected, but exciting conclusion.
