After surviving a shipwreck off the coast of the Florida Keys, Genna Whitworth, a Boston heiress fleeing from scandal in her hometown, gets the surprise of her life when she discovers that her childhood friend, Eli Blaylock is alive and well. Eighteen years before, she thought Blaylock had been killed in the same Seminole Indian attack that had, tragically, taken the life of her father. Now a prominent sea captain, Blaylock helps rescue Genna from the sinking ship - and although he is engaged to be married, both find it increasingly difficult to overlook their growing, and dangerous attraction that is blossoming in the intense, tropical heat.

Book ended up being pretty good however the beginning was extremely slow. Almost didn’t keep reading. Could have done a better job developing the brother in law character and had more suspense. Overall a good love story.

Exciting

I found it to be an very interesting story line
In some spots a little slow moving. Eli and Gennas is a true love story.

A light historical romance that highlighted the plight of falling in love with someone from another station in l society. However, love triumphs and the couple are united by their individual sufferings and embrace a solid future together.

yet another one that I had already read. maybe my rating would have been higher the first time when the plot didn't seem so predictable.

To be fair, I couldn't get past chapter 4. The author likes to tell, not show. no real tension. Blah.

This book had the potential to be better, I think. Characters seemed too old-fashioned.

Just another run of the mill romance novel, nothing special. A lot of contrived tension, unbelieveable scenarios.... not anything I'd bother to read again.
