Wiping Off the Sheen offers an inside look at Joe Estevez that can't be found anywhere else Wiping Off the Sheen includes an introduction by Dr. Scott Shaw, forewords by the authors, and a short story written by Joe Estevez.
I was shocked to discover this was published in 2012, many years before Joe Estevez got a third wind thanks to his work with Tim Heidecker and his amazing guest spot on Chris Elliot's Eagleheart.
An interview book that's light on anecdotes, but big on Estevez personality. He seems like a passionate guy, well aware of his demons, with big broad philosophies on life. He rambles on at length, but it's always interesting, even when it gets a little repetitive. There's some genuinely touching stuff about his struggle with alcohol, his familial relationships and what makes him happy.
It's a shame that most of Estevez's favorite roles are from films that were never released.
