A Dangerous Inheritance
First book in the eagerly anticipated sequel to the Bellamys of Texas trilogy! Fast-forwarding a few generations finds the contemporary Bellamy-Welles-Slade families going strong in northern New Mexico.
Colter Bellamy and his partner, Jonah, run the security division of the family business
in Albuquerque, including private investigation and personal security services. When they get the call that J.D. Pederson’s death was suspicious, Colter rushes to northern New Mexico, the area near his own family’s ranch, to see how he can aid in the investigation. When he discovers that the blown tire and rollover were no accident, everyone associated with the Pederson Ranch becomes a suspect. Twenty-eight year old, hazel-eyed Miranda Pederson seems the most broken up by the death, but she’s also the one with the most to gain.
Miranda is shocked to learn she has inherited the lucrative ranch. J.D. was her stepfather and she expected his natural sons, nine-year-old twins, would be the heirs. When Colter Bellamy shows up with his suspicious questions and a good-sized dose of the Bellamy charm, she doesn’t know what to think. But within days, someone fires shots at Miranda and her young stepbrothers, and she knows all their lives are at stake, unless J.D.’s killer is caught.

They grew and prospered by hard work and family loyalty. Always at the forefront of their code was family, first, last, and always. A Dangerous Inheritance is a continuation of the family saga into contemporary times.
A wealthy rancher is dead in an accident. Or was it? Colter Bellamy wants to know what happened to J.D. Pederson and he wants to know that Pederson’s sons, Cash and Caleb, are safe. He wants to know because these two boys are descended from the Bellamys of New Mexico and the old, powerful family looks out for their own.
When Colter arrives on Miranda Pederson’s doorsteps with the news that the accident that killed her adoptive father was no accident, the two of them are immediately at odds with each other. Does he really think she would kill her father for the ranch and his wealth? Was this a ploy to take her brothers from her?

Well written suspense
I dislike spoilers so i will just say this is a well written modern day western mystery. Strong female main character with an equally strong cowboy to fall for - both characters are likeable- the author gives you view points from both. (Well edited also- nothing to pull you out of the story. ) I would definitely recommend this author and will be reading her again in the future.

Powerful families, loss, love, strong female character and a cowboy.
I was pulled into the story from the beginning. Could not put it down.
Looking forward to the next book!

NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING
These characters were totally unfamiliar to me and my thoughts were that we would continue to follow Slade, Katherine, Jeb, HANNAH and FORD and Maria as they lived and thrive on their properties. I would have loved to know their struggles and their happiness and the names of their babies And how many each had. The Bellamy series I enjoyed so much and was hoping for more of that to continue. but this legacy file is not to my liking sorry but that’s the truth.
