الرواية الأم: ألف ليلة وليلة والآداب العالمية

The book is a study in comparative literature. It tries to show that "One Thousand and One Nights", known in English as "Arabian Nights" could be one of the early novels in the field. It traces its influences on old French and Spanish romances, courtly love and the old famous story books.
The book tries to prove that "Arabian Nights" has many forms of the novel and story that came later: The frame story; the story inside the story; the picaresque novels; erotica; magical realism, science fiction, psychological novels,and detective stories.
It traces also the influence of the Arabic book on famous writers like Byron, Dickens, Irving, Proust and many others.

قامت باحثة أردنية بنقل أفكار من كتابى هذا وتحويرها بحيث تبدو جديدة ، ثم قامت بنقل باب كامل من الكتاب ونشرته بنصه وحرفه باسمها في جريدة القدس العربى اللندنية وفى عديد من الصحف الرقمية على الانترنت
وهناك أستاذ عربى تخصص في الموضوع ، وحين يتحدث أو يكتب عنه ، يذكر كتابى هذا واسمى، ثم يقوم بعد ذلك بالحديث عن ألف ليلة مستخدما الكثير مما جاء في كتابى ،مما يبدو للقارئ أنه من عنده وليس متصلا بحديثه عن الكتاب . وهذه الطريقة في قرصنة الأفكار والكتابات قد انتشرت للأسف ، هروبا من تهمة القرصنة المباشرة النصية التي مارستها الباحثة الأردنية .
وأعتزم إن شاء الله إصدار طبعة ثانية من الكتاب ، أضيف اليه نصوص وأماكن تلك القرصنات التي تنتهك الملكية الأدبية ، وكذلك سوف أضع إن أمكن رابطا للكتاب هنا أو في صفحتى ليمكن لأي قارئ الاطلاع عليه

About the author

I lived in Tanta, Alexandria and Cairo. Joined Cairo University, Faculty of Arts, Department of English, class of 1961. Worked At the ministry of Higher Education. Was sent to Madrid, Spain to work as Cultural Attache for almost 5 years. In 1977, I passed the United Nations exam for Arab Translator and began working in New York in March 1978.
In 1981, I transferred to Editing Section to establish the Arabic Unit there. I stayed there till retiring in June 2001.
In 2005, I got the American Nationality.
I am married and have one son.
I read in Arabic, English, Spanish and French.
I published 26 books in Arabic: 16 translated and 10 authored.
Since I am reading now for more than half a century, I will log hundreds of books as read, which means during past time and not nowadays.
My library here in NY comprises about six thousand books in four languages.
