My name is Cerece Rennie Murphy, but, among my 5 siblings, I am known and teased by my superhero name, Wonder Worry, (and yes, I am a little worried about your reaction to what I just said). While in my youth, I used my superpower to whip minor setbacks into epic tragedies in 60 seconds flat, I no longer have the time to hone the skills I once possessed, which were handed down to me VERY CAREFULLY by my mother and her mother before.

Instead of spending my days imagining worst case scenarios, I am now on the front lines of true disaster prevention – treading the fine line between boo-boos and permanent brain damage, fighting crimes of curiosity, omission, absent-mindedness and sleep deprivation. I carry others down the winding, bumpy road of youth that starts out at the nexus of unique and brilliant but intersects with narcissistic serial killer at some distant point I hope fervently to avoid. As you might have guessed, I am a wife and mother of 2 small children. Luckily, my family lights up the sky so I never stumble too hard or lose my way.

I would lament the luxury of needless worry, but alas, I don’t have the energy. As I write this, I am losing a battle fought between my trusty sponge and a hardened glob of half-eaten cheese that traveled from the kitchen to the living room rug in the palm of a very small, but mischievous hand. Its stronghold on the fibers suggests occupancy of at least 2 days, but I’ll never know for sure. Rather than despair, I’ve chosen to retreat to my keyboard, noting that I have won the war - most of the rug is un-cheesed.

Before I worried. Now, I write.

I look forward to slowly, quietly, in my own shy way, becoming a part of this community. If you would like to get to know me and my work a bit better, you can visit my website at www.cerecerenniemurphy.com

A seer is a individual who gets visions of the future and according to society is "the devil". But that is just a load of BS feed to the public so an organization call the Guild can go around "collecting" them for their own purpose. And by collecting I mean breaking into homes, murdering the entirety of the house while kidnapping the seer. And Seers are the bad guys? Riiight..

This story centers around a few different set of characters, brother and sister Liam and Lillie, and captured seers Marcus and Alessandra and their journey to band together to take down the guild with the help of others, sadly like in any battle there are casualties in the process. It is also a learning experience as more seers join in to discover other abilities they are gifted with.

I enjoyed the story, it was very quick read and never really with any dull or downtime moments. In fact it was such a quick read that I found myself having to go back and make sure I didn't leave things out because at times I felt as if there was pieces missing that I was suppose to figure out myself. Hence the 4 stars.

Order of the Seers Review

Book Rating: 4 stars out of 5.

Story Line: 4 stars out of 5. This book was really good! I did enjoy my time reading it. Lillith Knight is a seer. She is able to see the future. Her power is wanted by a group called the Guild. Two men come after her one day, but she is at the fair with her brother, Liam. Her mother knew this was coming because she too was also a seer. She commits suicide to protect her children. She also leaves her oldest child, Liam, a note to protect Lilli. They leave the state they were living in. They went on the run until they went to Iowa where they were protected by Eli. Eli was an associate of their dad. Their dad was killed by the people of the Guild. Meanwhile, Marcus Akida, who is also a seer, was waiting on the arrival of another seer, named Alessandra. Marcus Akida is trying to escape from the Guild. When she comes they start making plans to escape. Marcus helps Alessandra with her powers. That way they can keep their plans secret from the Guild. The Guild keeps seers locked up and have them do visioning sessions together. Alessandra they had a problem controlling before Marcus helped her. They are also on a drug that keeps them from being able to make their own decisions. The drug also is a tracking device for them. They do escape and become part of "Lost Seers". They look for Eli also. Eli's group does help them. They detox their bodies from the drug. They are not able to be tracked by the Guild. There were so many other characters throughout this book as well that you go to know. They all had interesting story lines. I will only talk about my favorites in this review (I have one exception though. I will add one character that I didn't like because I couldn't stand her at all.) The story line was interesting enough for me to continue on to the next book.

Characters: 4 stars out 5.

Liam, Lilli, and Marcus are my favorite characters in this book.

Liam runs to protect his sister. He is really loving towards her. He really bonds with his sister. I really enjoyed reading about their bond. They were so close sometimes that it was scary, but that's what his mother wanted. He was really affected by her death too. The beginning of the book made me feel bad for him, but he grew into a strong character because of it. I really enjoyed his character development a lot.

I thought Lilli was really sweet. She was my third favorite character. Being a seer she was able to see into the future. I really liked the close relationship she formed with her brother. She always felt connected to him. She was able to help her brother when the men from the Guild came after them. I really liked her character development as well. I loved her more at the end!

Marcus was my second favorite character. I loved him so much. He really was a strong seer. He was able to block visions from the Guild. He used his powers to block him...until his death...
He was also held captive for years. He thought he lost his whole family when he was captured, but that was not the case. His son actually survived...when Marcus died...my heart broke since he was one of my favorite characters.

Alessandra was my least favorite character in this book. Yes, she was a seer, but she got on my nerves. I just couldn't stand her. I don't know...ugh....

I didn't really have any favorite quotes from this book.

Writing Style: 5 stars out of 5. I really enjoyed the writing style for this novel. It was easy to read and kept me interested!

This book is amazing! It's geared toward young adults but adults will find the storyline engaging and pageturning. The concept that a genetic marker gives some individuals to see the future is powerful. Especially considering the fact that The Guild locates those people and uses them for their own political motives. Lilli is a Seer, and her brother Liam will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. It's the last thing his mom told him before she was murdered.

While on the run, Liam and Lilli run into a pair that escaped The Guild, Alessandra and Marcus. Although there is a blooming romance between Liam and Alessandra, it does take a backseat to their upcoming fight against The Guild. The pages just flew by as I found myself immersed in this intriguing world. The characters are very well developed and the dialogue is clever and true to the age of the character. To me, that is a bonus. It really lends believability to the storyline. If you're looking for a new fantasy young adult novel, don't hesitate to pick up Order of the Seers!

ORDER OF THE SEERS is a fun YA book.

The writing is good and story should entertain the right age group. There's adventure and romance and sinister plots.

For those of us who are ancient and who have read tons of YA there will be the standard moments and developments. What raises this one above the rest is the interesting concepts that the author develops.

Note there's language, so maybe not for all school districts.

Worth a read for young adults.

Order of the seers is a book about a future where people with special powers are hunted down and impressed into work for the government. It's basically slavery. But a small group is trying to free them.

Overall, this was an interesting read. The characters are varied and interesting, the plot moves along at a really rapid pace, and it provides a satisfying complete story while setting up plenty of plot threads for future entries in the series.

258 pages of adventure and mystery wrapped into a science fiction novel that kept me captivated till the last page! I have wanted a brainteaser of a book and this was it for me. It was a journey through the minds of Seers and watching them bloom after being so sheltered due to The Guild, into their own beings while remembering their past and looking forward towards their futures as they reach in and discover the power they are capable of.

All the characters had a place and I was heartbroken at the death of a few that I will not name! But the story flowed wonderfully, started off with action to capture one's attention, and Lilith and Liam's adventure began. There are a few scenes with sexual content, but it is tasteful and graceful, it was so intimate, loving, and displayed the love between two characters and the emotions were felt.

I won this book in a Goodreads' First Reads giveaway and I am so happy I did because this book is a page turner! It is Cecere Rennie Murphy's debut novel, and a wonderful heart gripping story through the life of Seers, through captivity, love, and defeating the odds set against them. I look forward to the sequel set to release sometime this year.

This was sent to me via Pump Up Your Book Promotion for a honest and fair review. The story starts out with Liam and his sister Lili at a fair. Liam is less than thrilled with this and Lili is deep in thought. What soon follows is enough to make anyone want to run.

A group known as the Guild is out looking for seers a special group of people with the ability to see the future among other things. They are looking everywhere for Lili Knight who is exactly what they need. Liam and Lili go on the run with no one left to help them, only instructions from their mother about where to go and what the guild is about.

The two meet up with a group of renegades who are hiding themself from the guild. We also meet Marcus and Alessandra two who have more control in the guild and are able to manipulate the fellow seers. Marcus and Alessandra plan and execute an escape with a few other seers to setting out to meet up with the renegade group to hide from the guild.

What a great edge of your seat adventure I loved it and can't wait to see what happens in the next one.

Order of the Seers takes place in a world where seers are hunted and shunned. They are hunted by an organization that has spread incorrect propaganda.

The story begins with Lili and Liam. Their life is violently ripped from them when the organization comes from Lili. They are thrown into a truth of terror and running.

The story alternates between members of the organization and seers who escape or are drawn to a remote compound seeking refuge. Their refuge is not complete, as the organization wants the seers to maintain power.

This book is very interesting. Cerece Rennie Murphy has really set up a society in great detail. She does a great job of keeping the voice and setting consistent.

The book has moments of violence and sexual content. There is also frequent use of the 'f' bomb.

A fantastic first novel by Cerece R Murphy. A chilling look at how too much knowledge can corrupt those in power.

Liam and Lilli Knight have been running for their lives since the death of their mother only to finally find a safe haven among others that shy away from society. Marcus and Alessandra were taken captive, their families destroyed, all because they possess an ability that those in power desire, knowledge of the future. They escape with only one focus, to get to people that will help them.

These characters take us on a journey through heart and mind, fighting for the right to live free and to love. Fighting against those that would either imprison or kill them, the evil Guild.

I was riveted to my seat reading this and cannot wait for the sequel to be released.

My opinion: Ms. Murphy's novel is an excellent example of why I love, not only indie authors, but debut authors so much. This book was fresh, hoppin' and a fun, yet engrossing read. I am new to dystopian novels, but thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Targeted towards the Young Adult audience, in my humble opinion, this is the type of book to introduce them to an exciting genre with characters who are approachable and enough tension, both sexual and political, to give just a good old fashioned captivating read.

Word of warning: I would not recommend this book to the younger reader due to sexual scenes and language.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Cerece Murphy in person at Philadelphia Comic Con and decided to purchase her first book directly from her (Order of the Seers) and I could not put it down. Not only is she an amazing person but an absolutely talented author who really gives her readers what they paid for! The way she describes the characters and makes you fall in love or despise each one is absolutely amazing. It definitely keeps you at the edge of your seat and makes you want more. Making this purchase brought back my love for reading, prior to this book I had lost my passion for reading because of my hectic life. Definitely a great book worth reading!

Neighborhood book club selection. Author is local and will be in attendance. I am curious about her motivations. But what do I say about this sprawling story that slides all over the place?

Kept my interest with two sympathetic characters but there are lots of others. It's ambitious and violent with a steamy prolonged sex scene. I just kept waiting for it to go somewhere.

Beautiful

I am now a certified fan of this series and this author. I found the story to be beautifully written and beautifully developed in both plot and characters. The clever story line is captivating. The array of characters quite enchanting and despite the tender ages their experiences are believable as is their ability to handle what they face. This is purely and simply the work of the writer. She showers us with their growing maturity but does it with a realistic flair. The love scenes are tasteful and yet no less passionate. There is love here for her creations and it comes through in her use of language.
I loved the book and am already reading the second in the series as I write.

This book made me think of an evil Minority Report. Instead of trying to use the gift of seeing the future for good a d trying to prevent crime, an organization has been using it for their selfish reasons. They played on people's fear that seers are to be feared.

There's a lot of action, fighting, romance and it's a thrilling read. I love the writing and the story tied together beautifully at the end, which was bitter sweet. Great story and I can't wait to see what happens next.

This book is excellent for about 3/4. The problem is, the non - excellent parts are the first 10% and last 15%. It started wonky for me and I had to push into it. The crescendo never really crescendod for me. I do intend to read the series and it has cool potential.

ORDER OF THE SEERS #1 by Cerece Rennie Murphy

ABOUT THE BOOK: Released September 2012

What would you do if you held infinite power in the palm of your hand? Order of the Seers poses this question within a story that fuses action, mystery, romance, and adventure in a science fiction novel that keeps you at the edge of your seat. Order of the Seers begins with the journey of Liam and Lilith Knight, a brother and sister who are hunted by The Guild, a ruthless world organization that seeks to capture and exploit Lilith s unique ability as a Seer to envision the future. Soon after they are forced to leave their home, Lilith and Liam discover that she is not alone. Other Seers like Lilith are routinely kidnapped and enslaved by the Guild for the purpose of consolidating wealth and power around the world. But from within the organization, Marcus Akida, a captured Seer with powerful visioning capabilities, quietly plots his daring escape with the help of a beautiful and tortured Seer named Alessandra. When the escaped Seers are drawn to the same remote commune in Iowa as Liam and Lilith, they each find a place where they can rebuild their lives and rediscover their passion for life and love. As the Guild’s efforts to find them intensifies, the Seers ban together with outlaws from the commune to fight back against the organization that threatens their lives setting off a chain of events that will unleash the full power of the Seers and change everything we know about the true potential that lies dormant in each of us.

REVIEW: ORDER OF THE SEERS is the first storyline in Cerece Rennie Murphy’s new series of the same name. Written in a mixture of several different genres including sci-fi and urban fantasy, Order of the Seers follows the life and struggle of Liam and Lilli Knight-a brother and sister duo who have seen too much pain and sorrow in their lifetimes.

With Lilli’s Seer abilities, Liam and his sister are on the run for years following the murder of their father and the sacrificial death of their mother. Finding a commune who was willing to take them in, Lilli and Liam learn what it is to belong to a group but still managing to keep their secrets to themselves until the day another group of Seers, with the tell-tale signs of torture and drug induced control side-effects walk into the commune and announce to everyone the hell they have had to endure at the hands of Guild.

The reader is taken on a journey of self-discovery as Liam and his sister Lilli learn to love-not just each other. With their powers and abilities, the new Seers integrate the others in their efforts to rescue those in direct conflict with the Guild, and along the way their will learn to combine their collective Seer abilities for power beyond what anyone had ever suspected.

There will be losses of friends and family, as well as the realization that one can never go home again. We watch as a young teen grows into a man who believes his heart had been hardened by too many deaths and yet is capable of loving the woman who has seen their future many times in her dreams. And we will mourn with a compound when three of their own sacrifice their lives to save the others.

Order of the Seer is an interesting tale of discrimination, love, retribution and the madness of power and greed. As the introductory storyline there is plenty of detail and background information, but I did not feel overwhelmed-there was just the right amount of detail. The storyline is definitely not written for young adults, but perhaps under the latest ‘new adult’ category. The reasons I hesitate is that much of the storyline focuses on the teen years as Lilli and Liam struggle to survive. There are sexual encounters we are witness to that cannot be considered YA suitable as well as the mindset of an adult male wanting the younger girls and boys for himself. Although there is no erotic or graphic description, there is definitely sex to be had and a love story that will break your heart.

I had a few issues of clarity or continuity. Perhaps it was the text version I was reading, but in several spots there were no scene breaks-we would read about the happenings in the compound and in the next paragraph we were watching as the Guild members considered their next options. It was confusing at times as I had to go back to ensure that I hadn’t missed anything.

If you are a fan of Susan Kaye Quinn’s MINDJACK Trilogy, Order of the Seer is very familiar. Many of the storyline premises is reminiscent of Susan’s series, but with an adult content.

I bought this book directly from the author at an event I was attending. I bought the book mostly to show support. I didn't expect to be taken on such a thrill-seeking ride! You stay on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book! You also get swept away in two well-placed love scenes. I am definitely going to purchase the rest of the trilogy. This book is a must-read. I would love to see it made into a sci-fi movie!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.

*Be aware that this has some sexual acts and foul language*

Cerece Rennie Murphy has created a very intriguing start to her trilogy. I enjoyed this book, the world and the characters. I didn't like how slow paced. Sometimes I felt like it dragged with too much detail, but I realize that it created a well rounded insight into each character, their actions, the world and build up to something greater.

Lilith and Liam Knight were outstanding characters for me. What they had to endure with the truth about their parents in unbelievable. The Guild destroyed their family. Lilith was only 13 or younger when things went array for them, but she grew into a powerful, smart and determined young lady. Liam was the perfect big brother who stepped in as parent. He was very protective

Alessandra was a spitfire lady! I enjoyed her sassy wit and her comments to everyone. Learning that she was a powerful Seer and knowing what her gift was brought fire to the novel. Marcus Akida, an African powerful Seer, was the man! I totally loved his character inside and out. I loved how at the beginning of his purification stages he didn't let them wipe his memory clean. He allowed himself to feel the pain and anger from lost of his family. That pain and anger led to his escape alongside other Seers.

Joel Akida was a perfect character. He kept himself hidden from everyone except Lilith. He knew how his father was going to die and he knew he couldn't stop it or reveal himself. He took his future with pride and made sure everything he did was according to the good of his fathers cause and not just for himself. I definitely like Joel

The romance in this book between Liam and Alessandra and Lilith and Joel was pretty awesome. It was a perfect balance between each couple and allows for much more development. Liam and Alessandra had enough time to build a cute relationship. For Lilith and Joel I need to find out more about how their relationship blossoms.

The other Seers and commune's people (Eli, Marshall, Lucia, Jared and etc) were simply equally amazing. The all worked hard together to eliminate a threat against their own. Even though they all started out afraid of one another, they took the time to get to know each other and use their gifts and knowledge to help build a home -- a safe haven for them all.

The Guild is outrageous. A secret organization within the United World Organization that is stealing Seers to learn about and protect their futures -- greedy men and women. I couldn't understand why they had to kill every family after stealing the Seers. They should have just kidnapped them on a better level. I hated Crane with a passion. His eyes were on killing poor females and having their blood on him. He was the type of guy to go towards violence and anger. Andreas, on the other hand, was more logical. I still hated him because he worked with the Guild, but he thought things through and protected the Seers from any hurt, harm or danger. The fact that they have a new group of Seers on the rise is very interesting! I need to know more.

Overall, this was an awesome sci-fi novel and I'm excited to see what happens next in the sequel, The Red Order.

BEST SCI-FI EVERRRR!!!!!

Seers -vs- The Guild. Seers are people who possess special powers that an average human has not yet attained. The Guild is a collective of worldwide leaders. The Guild wants to control Seers and manipulate those powers for their nefarious purposes. They invade the private lives of every citizen in order to isolate anyone who manifests special powers. Once The Guild has found you, they invade your house, kill your entire family in front of you, drug you and drag you away from all that was normal. Once they get you, you are enslaved and dosed with Luridium, a drug they use to erase your memories and to keep you manageable and complacent.

Marcus is a strong Seer who has been with The Guild for many years. Marcus has convinced The Guild that they have successfully eliminated his hatred and aggression. Marcus follows orders and appears complacent, friendly and easily manipulated.

The Guild believes they have successfully erased all memories of the brutal murders of Marcus's wife and child when they apprehended him, but he never forgot. Against all odds he learned how to use his power and as a result his power grew exponentially. Marcus kept the strength and scope of his power a secret and remained visibly complacent while he formulated his plan to escape The Guild.

Within the Guild Marcus meets a troubled young girl named Alessandra. She is unable to contain her power when it is unleashed. She has a gift that is so horribly gruesome people run at the sight of her. They have put Marcus in charge of her. Yes, they trust him that much. He takes on his new ward and once she is strong and has learned another way to use her powers, he includes her in his escape plan. They become renegade Seers.

After The Guild murdered their mother, Lilli and Liam went on the run. Liam vowed to protect his little sister by any means possible. A noble conviction for a high school senior. If not for Lilli's powers they would have been caught so many times, but her powers allowed them to stay at least one step ahead. When they meet Marcus and Alesandra their world as they know it changes.

This first book in the series begins with Marcus, Alessandra, Liam and Lilli. The storyline is so strong, it keeps you engrossed in each page. This is definitely a page turner. The plot thickens and stretches to include other characters. Oh, and all the characters are great. Yes, the good and the bad ones are great; everyone plays their part well. The action scenes are written well and leaves your breathless.

I have to admit this, for three years I ignored this book in my Kindle. One day I decided to clear my Kindle of old books by either reading them or deleting them. I'm so glad I decided to keep this one and read it because it is a fantastic book. Although it makes me wonder about the books I did delete from my Kindle.

I have a Kindle membership and always only obtain books within the membership. I never buy books outside of this membership. But after reading this book, I couldn't buy the next two books fast enough....and read them both in record time. This is not just a good read; this is an excellent read.

I had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Murphy at Comic Con NYC this year and she was so nice. It's so cool to meet the author and get an autographed copy of the book. I know she is a Goodreads author, but since this was self published, it was hard for me to give it high marks since the novel lacks direction in places.
I think the plot is good. I think it unfolds well. I was hooked in the beginning with the story of the brother and sister. Immediately from the moment the mother died, I was on their side. So when the focus became Alessandra and Marcus, I was torn because I had become emotionally invested in Liam and Lilli. So once the story lines converged, it became alright on that front. However, we were still not getting Lilli's perspective on anything. We were learning about all the new people that were coming in. But there were too many new people coming to the commune. All the new characters were given back stories and made to seem important, I wanted to follow them too, we were getting all these perspectives, but it's distracting to have so many different characters back stories presented when at a time that is not important to know. Additionally, Liam's back story took an interesting turn by the last half of the novel when he was grappling with the guilt of killing two men. This was a shock to me because it was never foreshadowed in the beginning when they were on the run, no indication that he had struggled with it when he got to Iowa. It was strange because my whole idea of him, he did not strike me as a person who would be capable of that or why it happened? Where did he have the opportunity?
In case you were wondering, this is an adult novel with two sex scenes not even 50 pages apart from one another. And this was in the last half of the book. The first part had me believing that this was a novel for young adults and then suddenly Alessandra is interested in watching another couple have sex then we have to watch her have sex. I'm not saying I'm against the Alessandra and Liam sex scene, but I felt like a pervert reading about another couple (who are not main characters) having sex. That was awkward and unnecessary.
It seemed to me that Liam and Alessandra were very quick to marry. Alessandra saw Liam in a vision so we know they are supposed to be together, but their courtship seems very quick. I like them together and I think marriage was a natural progression, but it just seemed quick.
I did think it was a great idea to bring in Joel. I like his character and I think it works that he was a surprise, but it was a good surprise.
Ms. Murphy, if you happen to see this, I did enjoy it and I look forward to reading the sequel!

I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.
I have never read a book about stories. I may have read books that had seers but not they weren't the major focus. If you don't know what seers are, seers are humans with powers that can see the future in visions. It starts off with a brother and sister, Liam and Lilli, who find their mother dead because The Guild was searching for Lilli who is a seer. Their mother leaves some videos for them, explaining why she never told them about The Guild, about their father's death, among other secrets. After the siblings hear this discovery, they follow the instructions their mom left them and travel to a place where they will find help.

The Guild is a place where people capture seers in order to study them and use them against the world to manipulate. At The Guild, we are introduced to two seers: Alessandra and Marcus. Marcus has been waiting for Alessadra, for she will help restore the order of the seers. Out of all the seers in this book, I believe Alessandra is the one that has gone through more torture, has seen the most deaths and this is why she is shy and reserved. Marcus shares his story with Alessandra and she starts trusting him more and more each day. They come up with an escape plan and finally they leave The Guild with other seers that managed to see what was going to happen. They travel to the same place that Liam and Lilli traveled, which is where humans are living.

Alessandra has seen visions of Liam and herself being together, which to her is strange because Liam barely acknowledges her. I ship these two characters a lot. There is a scene where absoluetly nothing is happening and I was already fanning my face because it was intense and steamy...without anything happening, I know. You have to read to find out ;)

Humans and seers unite to fight the evil that has overpowered their nation to destroy the seers. The ending is sad. There isn't really much of a cliff-hanger. Yes, it continues but it doesn't leave you hanging, but what it does do is that at the end it includes ONE page of the second book and it includes a cliff-hanger!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is described in third person point of view, which gives more insight into the other characters and I found that quite enjoyable and I could understand more of what was going on.
