To Heal a Heart is the 9th book in the Miracles & Mysteries of Mercy Hospital fiction series. Evelyn Perry’s morning stroll with her husband takes an unlikely turn when they witness a runaway horse-drawn carriage hit a man riding his bike. She rushes to his aid and sees him off to Mercy Hospital. But soon Evelyn discovers that the carriage driver was operating off-route, and when a witness insists the incident wasn’t an accident, Evelyn begins to wonder if there is more going on beneath the surface. The victim, Paul Simmons, is a likable guy with no enemies. So why would someone try to hurt him? Can Evelyn find out the truth behind the accident before someone else gets hurt?
Cozy mystery connected to workers and friends at Mercy Hospital. Evelyn is in the records department at the hospital. She and her friends, who are committed Christians, have a knack for solving puzzling situations. Evelyn and her husband, James, witness an accident involving a cyclist and a horse-drawn carriage. Evelyn puts her sleuthing hat on when she questions whether this was just an accident. Things get curious when Paul, who was injured, gets threatening notes along with his get-well flowers. Could they be connected to the story he is researching for a newspaper article? Evelyn starts snooping and trying to rule out who could be sending the notes. But through it all she learns some valuable lessons: 1. She can’t do it all. 2. It is best to let God do His job. 3. She should not pre-judge. Great little cozy with action that moved the story along. *I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own.*
Engaging cozy mystery! There's a minor historical thread dating back to 1970 that merges with the primary story. Hospital employee Evelyn witnesses a wreck and then goes into amateur sleuth mode. In addition to a good story line, there are spiritual messages woven in.
This one was really good! I enjoyed trying to solve both mysteries and trying to figure out how they came together. I enjoyed each of the characters, too. It was an easy read and I read it in one sitting. I would recommend this for fans of cozy mysteries!
