As his town's pariah, Raven decided a long time ago that he would take the first chance he'd get to leave his hometown. Yet in the embrace of this chance, he is thrown in the claws of a rapidly growing new threat; an advancing empire hungry for land, power and a reason many do not understand. Before long, Raven finds himself on his adventure with a zoologist, his feline pet and a mysterious girl through an estranged world inundated with danger, myths and fantasy.
The story is really good and it stays close to reality even though there are a lot of fantastical people and creatures. Once you are reading this book you want to know what is going to happen and at the end you want to read the next book to discover what is going to happen. Despite some language mistakes and a certain thing that is predictable it is a very good book, also because the thing that is predictable is only a small part of of a much bigger thing in the end so it is not irritating. I am looking forward to the next book because when I was reading this one I could not stop and finished it quit fast and I hope the next one will be just as good.
Plus points: fantastical, compelling story, good plot, exciting.
