I learned by reading this book that there are a lot of parallels between being a great parent and a great leader. This is also an exceptional read for anyone who is looking to mentor young black adolescences. There's a clear message in this read that it truly takes a village to keep our sons out of the streets. It quickly slashes the prideful nature and common misconceptions associated with asking for help to raise our sons. My father didn't grow up with a father figure in his life, so he used this book as a blueprint to raise 4 kids. And ironically, I'm realizing that I am a living testament of the same tactics preached by the authors. They work. I've had numerous revelations about the role and intentions a father should have for their son(s) and also the transition to manhood and fatherhood. Phenomenal read.
