For Rush Novak , the 20-year high school reunion weekend is just a thing to do. Sure, he's kept in touch with several members of the football team, but he's not interested in spending days reminiscing about 'the good ole days', because the last two decades have been anything but good and he’s finally starting to live his life the way he wants to. He doesn't want to be reminded of what he missed out Emery Guerin. The girl he crushed on, but never had the nerve to ask out. When he finally got his chance at the Homecoming game, the captain of the cheer squad Shayla dashed his hopes with news of her pregnancy. He lost Emery all those years ago, but he won't miss his second chance! For Emery Guerin , this weekend is about reconnecting with people she hasn't seen in forever! After high school graduation she moved to Honduras and never looked back. She tried to nurse her broken heart back to health but finally gave up when she realized she'd never get over her high school crush or the heartbreak she suffered because of him. She'll do anything to avoid him this weekend. She knows they'll never have a second chance at romance with Shayla in the picture! This book contains coarse language and some hot sex. For mature audiences only. This is a standalone book with a happy ending and some angst thrown in.
Synopsis- rush Novak is looking forward to attending his high school reunion because he’ll get to see his high school crush again- the one that got away. Well due to his own stupidity but he was a teenager so…. Emery Guerin is also attending the reunion hoping to see Rush who she had a crush on.
This was a nice story although felt a bit rushed, (ha ha no pun intended) the reunion takes place over a weekend and I dislike these instant fall in love stories. It would have been nice to drag it out so they dated after the reunion but alas. It’s a novella so get in and get done
Emery's motivations made absolutely no sense. Who spends 20 yrs obsessed with a man that broke your heart & he wants to have a series talk because he wants to build a life with you but you avoid having the necessary conversation because all you want is sex. I'm starting to think the "ugly duckling " bw trope is based on the age of the author because the young bw authors do not subscribe to this thinking. A woman damn near 40 needs to be told by her friends that's she's attractive & how to dress. There's a running theme in all these books that doesn't gel with the very audience that reads them such as what is the hang up with makeup? Its a billion dollar industry, tons of women wear it & that doesn't make them not naturally pretty, shallow or unworthy. If we are to follow the women leads, they have to be interesting & somewhat relatable. Insecurity & self loathing is NOT a personality. Release them from these shackles. It's also odd that emery was so shy & insecure but jumps right to dirty talk & sending that video. That contradicts who you told us she is. The mafia books flowed better.
Rush and Emery loved each other from high school but life and insecurities got in the way. Rush thought he had fathered his girlfriend's child so he did the right thing and married her only to find out he was not the child's biological father but he loved him not the less. He come to find out his girlfriend was a skank back then and now. Him being honorable caused him the love of his live for over 20 years. They went to their high school reunion hoping to get some closure and move on . come to find out they had been pining for each other over these two decades. They talked and made their way back into each others lives.
Intriguing! Exciting! OMG, I couldn’t stop reading it! Shayla is a dirty, ruthless, uncaring person who only cares about herself. SPOILER ALERT: Didn’t even care about her son just the money she could get from Rush. After being divorced for 4 years she still tried to call him her husband but she finally got her just dues. You need to read this book and you will fall in love with Emery, Rush and Jeremiah. Leo and Micah. Charisma and Bry. Happy reading!
Wonderful storyline. But I was missing something. I wanted the characters to be more fleshed out. I found them a bit one dimensional. But it was a nice short read, and I think that the history that they shared was understood.
This was a great book with a beautiful plot. Rush and Emery had a "thing" in high school. Of course there were obstacles in the way that prevented a romance that may have fizzled and died out. However, they reconnect decades later and realized the feelings last and are stronger than ever..
Another good entry in this author’s mature lovers series. They liked each other in high school but he was trapped by a mean girl and ended up unhappily married. Now he is divorced and ready to put all mistakes behind him. Can he make up for the past?
I love this authors work so much I started reading her earlier works to play catch up. I love the characters and the story line. It was a mix of romance, passion and a whole lot of laughs
Though the villainess was not the beat written character she was horrible enough for me not to like her. The heroine was amazing and I am glad that she came into herself.
I really enjoyed this story and the characters were very entertaining and their storyline was very believable. I loved the chemistry between Rush and Emery was smoking hot 🔥! I highly recommend this book to my fellow romance readers you will not be disappointed with this book!
