Went back and forth on 3-4 stars. Still not sure.
I loved this author’s writing style. Loved the premise of the book and the meeting. Loved the characters. Especially loved the setting.
The pacing of this book was just weird though. Right as I felt their story was truly beginning, the book ended. Also, a few miscommunicationy things that I’m never a fan of.

Finding You started out promising with an intense and intriguing prologue. Sadly it slowly went downhill from there. I actually liked Joanna, Lincoln, Finn and the rest of the cast but there were numerous issues with this story that affected my enjoyment. First there wasn’t any chemistry between Joanna and Lincoln, it felt only physical and very surface level. I needed more depth.
There was too much inner monologue and not enough dialogue. The lack of communication, about a certain topic, between these three characters carried on for way too long.
Lincoln and Joanne had potential for more so it saddens me that the issues I mentioned above took so much focus cause it was them who should’ve shined.
I like small town romance so I’m disappointed that this wasn’t the book for me. I’ll still try another from this author as this is her debut and was only the beginning of the series. Her characters showed possibilities.

This is an adorable, light romance about a soldier who received mysterious letters from a woman named “Joanna” while at war, and when he comes home, he’s determined to find her. But then he realizes that she’s his little brother’s best friend, and that her brother is holding a torch for her…
This could be a heartwrenching read, but it really isn’t. It’s light, but with depth. I love Joanna as a heroine. She’s outdoorsy and not particularly girly, but she’s very sweet. Lincoln is a great hero, and while he does have PTSD from his time at war, the book’s tone is never too dark. This is a great read for if you’re feeling down and want to read something uplifting. Honestly, the potential brotherly love triangle is cleared up for the reader almost in the first chapter, as there’s a very important thing about Lincoln’s brother’s sexuality that he isn’t aware of. Gotta love convenient romance novel misunderstandings!

A sweet small-town romance with two people who "met" via letters sent over an eight year time period. I would have actually liked the story to begin with some of the letters. I also had a huge issue in that,

Despite my frustration with the plot, both these MC’s were excellent. Loved the setting, the steam was HOT, and the side characters were wonderful.

The wounded hero returns home to find healing and love.
This is the author’s debut book, and it is a winner. It is written in first person from a dual POV. It is the first in an interconnected series but there is no cliffhanger, and it ends with a wonderful HEA.
The story opens with Lincoln, serving in combat as a Marine and being injured. After he comes home to the small town of Chikalu Falls, Montana, the story moves forward two years. I loved Lincoln. The wounded and damaged hero is my favorite and the author did an excellent job with him. I really appreciated that the author understands the military and the difference between Marines and soldiers. I also appreciated how she deals with Lincoln and the struggles he has after he gets home. I found his character to be complex and tough with a heart like a soft gooey marshmallow. I love the symbolism of the Valkyrie and how it impacted his life. I love that Joanna’s letters gave him that thread to hang onto in the war zone. It was easy to understand how he was torn between his honor code, his desires, and his feelings for Joanna. I also loved that he recognized that he had some baggage and he felt she deserved more than he could give.
Joanna is a fabulous heroine. I felt like I really understood her and how she felt like she never quite fit. I love that she wrote letters to Lincoln while he was overseas, but I also understood why she avoided him after he came home. I loved her strength of character and her determination to succeed. I also really loved her competence in the outdoors as a guide. I really appreciated her acceptance of Lincoln where he was and her ability to not push him to share more than he could at any given time.
I really enjoyed reading as they got to know each other. The passion and the hot times between them were perfect for their story. I really loved the feelings they develop for each other so quickly and the connection they share. The pace and plot were very good, and I had a hard time putting the book down. This debut novel captured me completely. I am impressed and I cannot wait to read more by this new author.

couldn't put it down.
this was pitched to me as a pen pal romance, and me being the lover of epistolary romance i am, had to read this book.
sadly, this isn't an epistolary romance in the way i wanted. she wrote letters to him when he was in the marines, but he never wrote it back, after he left the marine he wants to find his girl but he doesn't know how since he only knows her first name. three years later he finds her, but she's his brother's best friend.

Lena Hendrix is a new author to me and I am surprised to learn that this is her debut novel. From the first chapter she wove a tale that I thoroughly enjoyed. This was at times an emotional roller coaster of a read and was one that reeled me in and kept me invested from the first to the last chapter. Th writing was strong and I could easily see myself in Chikalu Falls, Montana.
The chemistry between Lincoln and Joanna sizzles but it is Marine Lincoln's integrity and honor that blew him away, He has been fixated on discovering the woman whose letters meant so much to him and who h fell in love with through those letters. When he finally does, it is to discover that she is best friends with his younger brother Finn and Lincoln believes that Finn is in love with her. Torn between his heart and his family Lincoln is in an untenable position.
The passion and fire between Lincoln and Joanna is scorching. You could feel the heat as you were reading. I really loved Joanna, she is determined and not afraid to give as good as she gets. Her relationship with her sister Honey and Finn is heart warming and added an additional layer to the story.
Lincoln has been though so much in his eight years in the Marines and you could feel the stress and the PTSD felt so real whilst reading. He really deserved to find happiness and to finally have a chance at love and a future. My heart felt like breaking at times as he struggled to get a handle on life.
This is a story about looking deep inside oneself and coming to terms with what you find and in doing so opening yourself up to finding someone who will be there for you no matter what, to love and support you.
I cannot wait to see what comes next from Lena Hendrix.

I am absolutely STUNNED this is a debut novel. At the 32% mark I had to check and be sure it was a debut.
This book - it will reach in, grab you, and entrap you. Lincoln is written PERFECTLY as the Marine veteran who is medically discharged and is trying to truly find his civilian feet. He has the sweetest, biggest heart.
Jo is one of the STRONGEST female characters I’ve read in awhile. The author reminds us all through Jo that those who stand strong and can do for themselves, don’t NEED someone to help or protect them. So when someone comes along and gives them the gift of letting them be themselves and needing to protect that beautiful soul from any harm - that’s pure love.
Honestly I knew by 30-40% into this read it would be a 5 star. Everything just clicked and worked beautifully. The setting, the plot, the characters... they jump off the page at you. Linc and Jo are fully formed humans who give and take with their flaws.
This book is a MUST read.

This book gripped me from the very start. An intense scene with insight into the 'wounded hero' character had me needing Lincoln to have his happily ever after, and this author delivered.
I stayed up until 2am reading because I needed to see how the Lincoln and Joanna would finally meet and when they'd allow each other to fall.
The anticipation and chemistry between the two was done so well. It's one of those books where you get near the end and don't want to finish it because you want more and know it's almost over.
Looking forward to the next book!

This military romance is a debut novel and it shows. The beginning was a bit slow, the characters' actions are often confusing, the dramatic twist at 80% is very cliché.
I liked the heroine though. She is strong, independent and embraces her sexuality (thank god there's no virgin in sight). She is also insecure, which is a pitty.
The hero has PTSD from 10 years as a Marine. He is also insecure and I hate it when the drama is related to self-loathing and not being good enough.
All in all, it was ok-ish but forgettable.

I would’ve liked more sexual & romantic tension before Lincoln & Joanna slept together, but they had some pretty hot sexual encounters, that’s for sure! This was the book I needed.
First off, I want to say I loved this book. Next, why I needed this book is because I’ve been into some heavy dark romance reads lately and needed a pick me up. The angst in this book was really good and not under or over complicated. It felt like your favorite Reese Witherspoon Rom Com. It was sweet, had some funny banter, steamyyyyy scenes, angst, emotional turmoils then a HEA. Best meet cute ever. The letters, the tattoo, my favorite.
Lincoln- our broody, overprotective cave man Marine. Loved him. He is everything you want in a book boyfriend. Obsessed with his girl but broken on the inside. (What I loved most about his development was he got help for his issues himself and falling in love didn’t magically fix them) He was perfect for Joanna. Who was our rock of stability for this story. Loved her. Loved how strong and capable she was. Loved her kindness and strength even when she was insecure.
My only complaint: is that epilogue better just be a foreshadowing of Finn’s story. Because I’m gonna need more… 😉

What an incredible story for a debut novel by Lena Hendrix - wow! Numerous times I thought to myself, this can't be her first novel!
You know the story is going to be a good one when chapter freaking ONE has you in tears - and Finding You did just that. Lena wrote an extremely emotional, brother's best friends, small town romance that had me truly invested Linc and Jo's happy ever after.
The characters were well developed and relatable. I loved that Jo wasn't your typical heroine in that she was confident in herself as a person, yet insecure about her femininity at the same time. Linc is your sexy alpha male who works through his own misbeliefs and struggles with post-combat life. The secondary characters were also amazing and I love the little curve ball Lena's threw in about half way through.
I can't say enough good about this one and I highly recommend it.

I can’t believe Finding You is Lena Hendrix’s debut novel! This book is everything! Jo and Lincoln’s story stole my heart, ripped it to shreds, and put it back together. Finding You by Lena Hendrix is a small town, brother’s best friend romance. During Lincoln’s deployment as a Marine he received care packages every so often and in them would be a letter simply signed by Joanna. These letters became Lincoln’s reason to live and survive during his deployment. After Lincoln’s return to his hometown in Montana, he searches everywhere for her. With only her first name he has no luck and waits until hopefully, he’ll find his Joanna. Lincoln’s family business, which is run by both him and his brother, needs another guide. Enter Joanna aka Jo. Lincoln is attracted to Joanna at first sight but isn’t sure she’s his Joanna until later. There’s also the matter of his brother having feelings for Joanna, but you’ll have to read the book to find out what happens there.
The premise of this story and its characters were incredible. Finding You is a well-written novel, with realistically flawed and relatable characters. Both Joanna and Lincoln’s characters were well-developed and some of their underlying struggles were the same. They both wanted to be better and worthy of each other but felt that they lacked something. I absolutely loved Lincoln and Joanna’s characters; they’re both dealing with their own issues; Joanna feeling like she’ll never be good enough and Lincoln with the weight of his experiences from the Marines resting on his shoulders. When they meet, the chemistry between them literally jumps off the page, and you can tell that they’ve found a kindred spirit in each other. Lincoln, being a man of honour, fights his feelings for Joanna for pretty much the whole book, as he thinks that his brother is in love with her (I loved the twist during this part of the story, when you read it you’ll know what I mean). There were so many points throughout where I was like ‘hot diggity damn, just tell the woman how you feel!’. When I yell at a book, it’s always a good sign, means I’m completely invested in the story, and I was 100% invested in this, Lincoln and Joanna gave me all the feels.
From denial to lust and all the way through to love, this story ran through the full gamut of emotions, and I was hooked from the first page. Now, I sit and wait patiently for the next book, no pressure on the author or anything.

In one word - Lincoln. This man was the perfect mix of adorable, protective and tortured. Still reeling from his experiences in the Marines, he moved back to Chikalu Falls to help with his brother Finn’s fishing guide business. There he meets Joanna, who he is convinced is the one that wrote to him during his service.

This was such a beautiful, heartwarming story.
I loved that Jo is such an independent person but isn't made out to be some cold and unfeeling woman either. She is the perfect mix of sweet, charming and strong. Jo is such a relatable heroine that I found it impossible to separate myself from the character in some places. Lincoln is a complicated man who is trying to do right by everyone and is pretty harsh on himself. This aspect of the story, Lincoln's doubts and insecurity, was about the same as you might find in other military romances. But Lena has made his inner conflict much more emotional and heartbreaking with her amazing talents of weaving words just the right way.
The relationships that the MCs have with the side characters are written very well and make you wish that you were living in Chikalu too.
Finding You is a wonderful story that is a must read for readers looking for angst and all the feels with a smart as whip heroine, a strong, reliable, slightly broken hero and the charm of small town Montana.

Say what now, Finding You by Lena Hendrix is from a brand new author? Could have fooled me. Finding you was so perfectly developed, with complex characters, an interesting a unique storyline, not to mention the steam. This story is a huge accomplishment.
Lincoln is returning home from serving in the marines. He was injured during his time overseas and experienced countless horrors. The one thing that kept him sane was the letters he received from the mysterious stranger Joanna. Now that he is back and trying to adjust to civilian life, while struggling with the demons that have followed him home, the last thing he expects is to find out the Joanna and his brother are best of friends.
Joanna and Lincoln’s chemistry was so undeniable that I felt myself struggling right alongside them. Did I mention that Joanna isn’t your typical heroine? Just wait to experience her for yourself. You will not be disappointed. I honestly could not have imagined a better heroine for Lincoln.

It was fine… Although, it was a bit weird that something kept happening to Finn every time he was about to tell Lincoln he was gay lol
Plus the pacing was weird for me, and I didn’t really think the characters had any chemistry. The story had a lot of promise though, I just don’t think Hendrix’s writing style is for me

This book was super sweet and swoony! I don’t even think that’s a word, but we are going with it. Anyway it’s an adorable story about a very stunning ex-marine and a beautiful woman who thinks she will always be friend zoned because she isn’t considered a feminine beauty. However, we all know she’s a smoke show that doesn’t know it till the super hot guy gets on the scene.
This book made my heart melt🫠 that ending was adorable! That grumpy, caring, protective, self-destructive man stole my heart. But I will let you know the real star of the show of course is the adorable Bud. He was such a good doggo of course.

Finding You by author Lena Hendrix was so easy to love. A battle hardened Marine returns from his time at war with the words that saved him time and again tucked safely away in his pocket. It was like an angel(or a mystical Valkerie) hand delivered Joanna's letters directly to him. Those letters from a stranger offered him hope, protection and peace in a place where those things don't exist. Returning home to find the mysterious Joanna has been right under his nose and has a relationship with his brother was both devastating and bittersweet. Determined to deny his feelings for her, he wrestles with his demons from war and himself every time she's near.
This book was gorgeous. A beautifully broken man, the sweet but badass girl that stole his heart and their lovely siblings. I adored everything about this book and am so happy to see more books focusing on the work it takes to rise from the ashes of war to find happiness for ourselves. Loved the start to this series and can't wait for more!

Finding You is a fantastic debut novel from Lena Hendrix! I loved everything about Jo and Lincoln’s story! It is well-told, paced wonderfully, the characters are easy to relate to, nothing about their romance felt forced, and the supporting characters were well thought-out and contributed nicely to the story (versus just being props as extra characters). I felt every bit of lust and sexual tension between Jo and Lincoln, and totally bought why he felt she was so off-limits as someone his brother was interested in.
The use of the letters Jo wrote to Lincoln when he was deployed was a fantastic tool in setting up the connection between these characters years before the actually met. He’d been searching for her in every face he looked at, and she was looking for someone to see her for the wonderful woman that she is.
Give this new author a chance. You won’t be disappointed! I hope there is much more to come from Lena Hendrix!! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

OH MY GOD. I can’t believe I waited so long to read this book?!? The audiobook was FANTASTIC. The narrators crushed it & I literally finished it in a day. AND IT WAS HOTTTTTT.
Lincoln received letters from a group from his home town, & started getting them specifically from someone named Joanna. He didn’t know who she was, but she saved him. Gave him hope. And he needed to find her.
Joanna wanted to join the writing group in Chikalu falls ever since she saw her best friend’s older brother in a picture & immediately started crushing on him. What she didn’t expect was how much hotter he would be in person, and the amazing chemistry they would have between them!! Especially when forced to be together…in close quarters. There may or may not be a shower scene. Whew.
There is so much to this story & I just freaking loved it. GO GET IT YALL.

Grab a box of Kleenex because you'll need them. You'll be crying one minute and laughing the next. You'll love Joanna and Lincoln's story. Her letters kept him going while he was in the Marines and he spent eight years trying to find her. It's a small world for sure as she turned out to not only be his brother's best friend but he's brother was sweet on her. You know what they say about the Marines and honor. It's hared to believe that this was Lena Hendrix's debut novel. It was well written and she made the characters come alive. The book will take you on an emotional roller coaster. A great read that I read as a free advance copy via Social Butterfly PR and voluntarily chose to review it.

The universe knows I tried. The concept of this hooked me really hard, it sounded really good but sadly it was the only good thing for me.
The second chapter made me want to quit but I tried. Why did they had to sexualise every physical description? Even if they were describing how the clothes they made it so sexual... Why? It happened over and over again. If they talked about their eyes, it was the same... Why?
They had nothing in common, no chemistry, their conversations were overtaken by their sexual thoughts, I couldn't care less if they ended up together or not.
I find it hard to believe he looked for her for years and no not even once mentioned his brothers friend before, like???

Man this book checked off all the must haves…small town romance, brother’s best friend, slow burn but then absolute combustion…I could totally go on but I think I got my point across. I was utterly invested in Lincoln and Joanna as soon as they were introduced. Lincoln and his past tugged on my heartstrings. Joanna and her desire for more had me cheering from the nosebleeds. The fact that they could somehow come together and complete the other made my heart go pitter patter with all the hopeful butterflies.
The fact that this is a debut novel is just mind blowing. I loved everything about Lincoln, Joanna and the small town of Chikalu Falls and can’t wait for more.

So well written I forgot I was reading. These characters are so real life. Their lives are full of dreams, goals, and trying to survive day to day. Yet, there is also the pull of romance with achieving self awareness so that their lives can be shared. They find each other then life, along with self doubts, pull them apart. Throw in his little brothers secret and her very protective sister with parents who don't get her and the adventure is complete. I can't wait to find out more about how their lives continue. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
