Hawthorne Brothers #4

How to Kiss a Movie Star

Rate this book
He’s Hollywood’s biggest star. She wouldn’t know him from the pizza delivery guy.

I’m a wildlife biologist in a tiny mountain town, not some kind of law-breaking celebrity stalker. At least not on purpose.

It was an accident when I wandered onto the property of one of Hollywood’s hottest movie stars. Five minutes ago, I'd never even heard of Flint Hawthorne. I definitely didn’t know he lives in Silver Creek.

When I’m detained for trespassing, the last thing I expect is to trade my handcuffs for a designer gown. All I wanted was permission to conduct my research on a remote corner of his estate.

Now I’m walking the red carpet of a Hollywood movie premiere as Flint’s (very fake) girlfriend.

At least, the relationship is supposed to be fake. But the way he slips his arm around me, his breath tickling my ear, the chemistry feels like something real.

The trouble is, I’m not really built to handle his fast-paced celebrity life. Most days, I prefer the company of squirrels to people. I should be glad we’re only pretending.

I’m just not sure my heart got the memo.

Perfect for fans of swoony romantic comedy, this series finale from bestseller Jenny Proctor hits all the right notes!

4.5⭐️ When Audrey wanders onto his property in search of the elusive white squirrel, Flint is quickly taken with her and her quirky charm. Soon he is making her an offer she cannot refuse - unlimited access to his property for research if she pretends to be his new girlfriend in order to squash rumors he is dating his co-star.

I could not have imagined a better wrap up to one of my favorite romcom series. I’ve been patiently awaiting Flint’s story and Jenny Proctor gave him a great one. I loved our nerdy girl MC and her devotion to her white squirrel research. Some of the early hijinks in this book had me in hysterics and I saw right away, how ideal a match Audrey was for him.

I loved the added tropes used including, one of my recent faves, fake dating in Hollywood. This creates the perfect amount of tension and angst, as well as a great counter balance to the small town charm of Silver Creek.

I will admit, I cried at the end of this conclusion to the Hawthorne Brothers series. They are an incredible family and I have so enjoyed the time I’ve spent with Brody, Perry, Lennox, Flint, sister Olivia, and mom Hannah. I look forward to rereading this series in the future whenever I want to visit with them again.

Read if you like:
•opposites attract
•forced proximity
•fake dating
•Hollywood romance
•he falls first
•women in stem
•big, boisterous families
•clean romance

Thank you Jenny Proctor for my gifted copy.

Loved it! Great audiobook!

Loved:
-banter, both between the love interests and the brothers
-just the characters themselves
-celebrity romance is fun
-clean but swoony romance
-the squirrels lol

How to Kiss Your Enemy is still my fave in the series, but this is a solid second place!

No language and only kisses. Recommend!

(Not rating due to content, but I did enjoy the book apart from said content. Clean fiction with one use of language and some mild sexual innuendos)

Amazon did it to me again. I didn’t realize this was book 4 in a series. No wonder I missed out on his siblings stories. Oh well!

Okay, okay, okay, I’m weak for the celebrity trope and the fake dating trope—and this book had both. I had to try it. And yes this book definitely had parts I didn’t like with different comments/innuendos and kisses that lasted way too long, but! The plot was really cute and the main guy was a respectful sweetheart. Would I recommend this book? No, probably not, especially not to those who have the same reading taste to me because it definitely had those parts I didn’t like and hence why I’m not going to rate this book, but if you’re okay with more kissing and what not then I am, you may enjoy it. I would put it pretty close to the Courtney Walsh hockey books, but having a bit more muscles, boobs, and sexy comments and then those two books. But I mention those Courtney Walsh books because I did enjoy the plot and giggled my way through both. I almost would give this one three stars like those because it was a pure a guilty pleasure read, but I don’t think I will rate it because I did end up skimming a lot of the kissing because I don’t need to fill my mind with that, kthanks. 😶

I laughed a lot with this story. Audrey is a nerdy scientist but she’s great and even made me curious about these special white squirrels. (Look them up, they’re so cute!) There was a handful of comments about climate change and evolution that I completely do not agree with, but it wasn’t a major focus of the book despite Audrey being a scientist. Would have preferred it more without it, of course, but I expected that with the field she was in.

This book had siblings and banter done really well with his brothers, his sisters-in-law, and then her sisters. It made the book better to me because those parts were fun and the texting scenes had me cracking up.

I appreciate that neither of the fake couple kept it a secret about the dating being fake from their families. That can be common with this trope and I don’t care for it. But they both had good families, which makes all the difference. He’s really respectful and that was sweet to see.

I really liked that this showed more than just the fairytale aspect of falling for a rich celebrity handsome guy. Some books with that trope will have a bit of a hardship but they’re over dramatized and borderline on ridiculous just for the sake of creating drama. This book wasn’t like that at all, and I honestly enjoyed it so much more because of that. I mean, our girl is a smart cookie and it shows as she thinks through all the possible things and aspects of being involved with a movie star. I don’t know, I just really liked that aspect, as it felt very realistic and well thought through. I don’t think I’ll go back and read the siblings' books in the series because they frankly don’t have really the tropes that interest me (and that’s what I typically look for when I attempt to read clean rom-com), but I probably will see about reading Summer’s story in the author’s new hockey book.

Main Content-
Tension & Desire; Almost kisses & Lots of kisses (easily 20+) including some steamy/heavy kisses with a few having tongue (I hope they care about their dental hygiene 🤨) and lasting up to ten minutes long (longest kissing/make out session was probably around a full page); Lots of (tons, really) touches, wanting to touch, cuddling, ebraces, nearness, noticing abs and curves, etc (it stays pretty respectful, but up to a few sentences); There’s mentions and discussions of sex in terms of expectations with the fake dating, that payment won’t be received for anything like that, Audrey snapping at her sister to not think about having it with Flint, and how Flint doesn’t sleep around casually without it meaning something serious; Audrey and Flint talk about his abs; Audrey and her sisters talk about her boobs and butt (particularly in a bikini that helps her assets); Audrey wears a bikini in front of Flint (prior discussions with her sisters about her boobs and butt in said bikini); Audrey asks Flint to rub sunscreen on her and it effects both of them but isn’t too dragged out (a few sentences in the touching); Audrey thinks about her eggs and having children past thirty being difficult (and that guys can have child until they’re 95 if their “equipment” is working); Audrey and Flint share a bed (with a pillow barrier that gets broken when she’s upset over something); Flint unzips Audrey’s dress at her request to help her, but it’s not super tensioned filled; Epilogue hints to marital activities in bed (no true details but you know something happened then and the night before).

Hot, sexy, and delicious are all used when describing guy; Mentions of skinny dipping & being naked (particularly about Flint’s tendency to swim naked); Mentions of abs, muscles, boobs, butts, curves, & noticing them (a couple sentences in length at max); Mentions of hormones; A couple mentions of reporters asking if they’ve slept together; A mention of women lusting over Flint; A mention of making babies with a guy.

Language: a use of a**, else wise minor words like piss, crap, freaking, gah, and such words are used.

Flint drinks at a party and with his brothers & Audrey drinks at a party and gets tipsy; A man accosts Audrey (wanting answers for her and she’s scared).

Mentions of drinking, alcohol, & being tipsy; Mentions of climate change & evolution (and both being important); A couple mentions of goddesses (Flint thinking Audrey looks like one); A mention of fangirls thinking a man walks on water; A mention of a man worshipping his wife.

Color me surprised that I absolutely adored this entire series despite it being MF and despite it being chaste. Though just to be clear, I totally would’ve taken any amount of spice!

This is a fake dating trope done right. It was fictionally plausible (if you could imagine someone like Chris Evans needing you to pose as his girlfriend) and never spins carelessly out of control. Though both Flint and Audrey have their doubts that the other could, or would, be willing enough to want a true relationship, they agree to an arrangement that would help the other out significantly.

Flint is a Hollywood actor, an up and coming A lister who realizes that with fame, there’s a lot of personal sacrifice, and he wants the focus on his craft, not his personal life. Audrey is single mindedly dedicated to her academic pursuits and totally clueless and unconcerned with social niceties and frivolity. She agrees to the crazy proposal that Flint presents but only because it would grant her access to his wooded property to carry out her research. These two are complete opposites, but somehow their differences are what really makes a mark on each other's hearts.

No doubt Flint is a dreamboat. I mean, Audrey in her own secluded self imposed reality knows at least that!! Though he couldn’t usurp older brother Lennox (from How to Kiss Your Enemy) in the top spot, I too wouldn’t say no to the opportunity of being with him. Just saying. Also, the levity continues with great support from family members from both sides who are only too happy to be the voice of reason and to keep both Flint and Audrey honest and from stepping off the ledge.

So overall, what I like about this series is that these characters are adults with real problems and issues, tied with understandable insecurities and vulnerabilities. Despite that, they take a chance on love and for the most part, handle it with maturity and communication. I know that sounds absolutely boring to some, but Proctor instills these 4 brothers with an understated, but assertive, yummy sex appeal that cannot be denied (at least by me). What’s also notable is that her female characters were those I’d like to be friends with, and that is probably the most important thing when it comes to deciding whether an MF story is worth the stars.

AHHH! I am absolutely in LOVE with this book and completely devoured it in one sitting.

Movie star Flint Hawthorne moves back home to escape his fans for a while but is intrigued when he meets perhaps the one woman in the country who has absolutely no idea who he is.

Audrey is a wildlife biologist dedicated to her work and when someone builds a house on the site where she is conducting research, she decides a little trespassing is worth documenting the exciting discovery she has made...though the attractive owner does a good job of distracting her from the reason she is there.

Flint and Audrey may seem like opposites but their mutual attraction grows the more time they spend together, but Audrey may not be ready to give up her life to stand in Flint's shadow.

What to love:
Celebrity Romance
Fake dating
Forced proximity
The meet-cute
He falls first..and he falls harder!
The squirrels!
The Hawthorne Brothers
The photoshoot
All the kisses!
The shopping trip

The chemistry and the tension between Flint and Audrey was seriously *chef's kiss perfection. Each scene ratcheted it up just a little bit more until there were fireworks shooting off the page at every interaction. And THANK YOU to the author for letting them be adults and actually communicate with each other. It's almost as swoony as the near-kiss scenes.

And can we please have some more brainy heroines? I love Audrey's passion and dedication to her work. Flint was similarly dedicated to his acting and it made them the perfect match!

I am so sad to say goodbye to the Hawthorne brothers - they truly are some of my favorite characters and every single time they were on page together, my heart melted a little bit more. This entire series has made me fall in love with them and I am really hoping the author does a spin-off series so we don't have to say completely good-bye yet.

I feel like I need to apologize for giving so many five stars out lately, especially to such fluffy romance books, but I can’t help it. This audio book was just so ridiculously fun for me. I loved the aspect of the rich movie star falling for the wildlife biologist. I laughed, I’m embarrassed to say it, but almost cried, and I fell in love with all of the characters. Maybe I just really needed a fluffy book like this.

Super cute

This was super cute - a light and easy fake relationship romance with a celebrity twist. I loved that it had “he falls first” vibes, and that it was the famous actor who was unsure if he would be enough for the accomplished scientist who steals his heart. I liked that she kept him grounded, and the exploration of the chaos that’s involved in being a modern celebrity was really interesting. You’re not just signing up to be with a lovable, sexy man, you’re also signing up for a life in the spotlight. That side of the story brought some extra weight and complexity to this otherwise lighthearted romance. It was sweet and bingeable, with a cinnamon roll hero who was easy to love.

The story follows Flint, a movie star who recently moved back to his hometown to have more time away from the spotlight. Flint bought a large piece of property and is enjoying the seclusion when he discovers a woman trespassing so she can take some pictures. Turns out, Audrey isn’t trying to get private pictures of a movie star, she’s actually a scientist interested in spotting some rare squirrels. When Flint realizes that Audrey has no idea who he is, it’s a breath of fresh air. There’s something refreshing about spending time with someone who doesn’t care about his celebrity status. So when Flint needs a fake girlfriend for a movie premiere, his first thought is Audrey… even if he would prefer to start up something real with her.

I’ve been enjoying this series because I know that each installment is going to be a quick, cute read without a whole lot of angst. And that’s the case here as well - this was perfect for bingeing, and it was a smile-inducing read. The pairing of Audrey and Flint was definitely fun, and I liked that it was both the typical fake relationship romance (without a ton of surprises) and something a little different as well. Their dynamic worked, and it was easy to like both characters. In fact, my only complaint would be that I wanted more time with them together. This is the final book in the series and easy to read as a standalone, but there was a lot of time spent with Flint’s family to close out the series AND a decent amount of time spent with Audrey’s sisters, establishing them as characters. It took away from the romance at times, and I wouldn’t have minded a whole lot more Flint and Audrey. But this was successful overall, and I had no trouble bingeing it.

I don’t know how to be coherent when I really want to shout I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH GO READ IT RIGHT NOW. It was everything I could have hoped for in closing out this series and I am a puddle of emotions over the ending.

FLINT AND AUDREY. I think what really sells me on an amazing romance is when I love the characters separate AND together. The chemistry was well timed and the banter was on point. AND HE FELL FIRST. AND FELL HARD. Oh my gosh, Flint Hawthorne. And I adored Audrey. She was brave and so very brilliant and I love how these two opposites came together.

The plot had all of the little moments I could have hoped for. And while being closed door/sweet it still brought that little bit of heat you could feel burning off the pages. I love an intense kiss scene and this one had multiple. And the third act was beautifully and realistically handled and I’m all in my feels again just writing this review.

Not to mention I LOVE the whole Hawthorne family. Getting to see where they are, the text conversations and just the SUPPORT.

I love Jenny Proctor’s books! Incredibly excited to see what’s next.

Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: none
- Romance: make-outs
- Violence: low
- Trigger/Content Warnings: unwanted grabbing, harassment by media

I’ve been eagerly anticipating Flint’s story from the very first Hawthorne brother book and I was NOT disappointed. Although Flint is an uber famous movie star, he’s as down-to-earth as anyone’s next door neighbor and his first meet with ultra clueless wildlife biologist, Audrey, had me rolling on the floor in fits of laughter. Movie stars, schmovie stars–it’s all about rare squirrels for her.

This author does a phenomenal job of creating the ultimate opposites attract fake dating story ever and I had my popcorn out to enjoy the drama and swoon. Seeing the other brothers’ wives and watching them rally around and engage with Audrey was so satisfying, but it’s all the sweetness of Flint that had the butterflies swirling and my heart pounding. Personalize destination shopping trips? Done. “Brothers” text chat? Hilarious. Deep connections and care? Oh, yes. Sizzling swoon and attraction? Definitely. “Grand” gesture? Check.

This installment was everything I dreamed of and more and it was pure joy to listen to it. I did extra cleaning and weeding in my garden to make up for the time I used to zip through this adorable love story.

Possibly my favorite of the Hawthorne Brothers books, this dual POV, opposites attract, fake dating romance between a movie star and a wildlife biologist was pure magic. I loved seeing Audrey adjust to Flint's Hollywood life and seeing how they try to figure out a way to be together. Great on audio and an utter delight to read!

How to Kiss a Hawthorne Brother is one of my favorite series, and this book was a fabulous way to wrap it up. It’s sweet, funny, full of so many swoon worthy moments, and I absolutely adored it!

Audrey is an extremely intelligent wildlife biologist, passionate about her research and not much else. When she has a meet cute with a handsome man at the local nursery, she has no idea that he’s a famous movie star. When her sisters later explain who he is, she is still not impressed.

I really loved her character! She makes a bit of a transformation as she fake dates Flint, but still remains true to who she really is.

Flint is immediately smitten with Audrey. He is attracted to her beauty, thinks her intelligence and self-confidence is sexy, finds her adorable when she’s disguised as a shrub to study her beloved squirrels, and loves that she’s unapologetically herself. I loved how fast and hard he fell for her, and how he was so attentive and protective of her.

What I loved:
🎬 Celebrity & nerdy biologist
🎬 He falls first and harder
🎬 Opposites attract
🎬 Fake dating
🎬 Great bantering
🎬 Funny text threads
🎬 Small Town
🎬 Supportive families
🎬 MC’s are super supportive of each other
🎬 HEA and epilogue

Many thanks to Jenny Proctor for an eARC!

I enjoy a good celebrity romance and when I saw the fun teasers for this one I knew I had to read it! How to Kiss a Movie Star is my first book by Jenny Procter and ohhh I absolutely loved it!

Flint Hawthorne is a movie star looking for a little less time in the spotlight, so he buys property in his quieter home town of North Carolina only to find a woman trespassing there. Audrey is a wildlife biologist who spends little time watching movies. She is researching the white squirrels in the area and she has no idea who Flint is which he finds totally refreshing. Flint is smitten with her and falls hard right from the start. When one of his costars starts spreading dating rumors he needs to find a fake girlfriend and date to take to his movie’s premiere. Audrey is naturally the first person he thinks of. :)

I loved how this book explored the relationship between a movie star and a scientist. I also liked how it shows what it would be like for someone like Audrey, who likes to keep her world small, to enter Flint’s world in the spotlight with everything that that entails, to see if their relationship could really work. I could really feel Flint’s emotions and frustration for some of the things that come with his stardom so he can do the thing he loves which is, of course acting.

I also loved how flint and Audrey actually communicated with each other! There was no guessing what the other was thinking or miscommunication because they told each other everything.

The chemistry and tension in this one was just perfection. The touches, the near kisses, the multiple make out sessions. This book delivers fireworks in the best possible way while still staying a clean/sweet romcom.

I adored Flint’s family and his relationship with them so much. I need to go back and read the rest of the books as this one made me fall in love with The Hawthorne brothers.

If you are a rom-com lover you definitely will want to put this one on your list!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

🤍 Thank you SO much @jennyproctorbooks for letting me be a part of your arc team for this amazing
release 🤍

This was just my favorite romance in this lovely series. Audrey and Flint had so much chemistry and I was so drawn to that fire!

I loved how well Audrey and Flint communicated as they tried to navigate their feelings!

I loved how well these two fit together. While they were opposites in a lot of ways, those differences made them better together. They encouraged each other and stood beside the other as the chased their dreams.

I’m just head over heels for this book and you can fall in love with it too on August 18th!

FLINT + AUDREY!! 😍

Oh man, I loved these two together. I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire Hawthorne brothers series, but this one is definitely my favorite! ❤️

Celebrity romance? Yes, please! She doesn’t even know who he is? EVEN BETTER. Fake dating? SAY LESS. I was seriously just a puddle on the floor the entire time and that swoon meter was off the charts. 🫠

The audiobook narration is fantastic and even though I can’t believe I waited so long to read this book so I could listen to the audio, it was also worth it. 😆👏🏻

The way this book had a dang hold on me. I smiled. I laughed. I cried. Oh my GOSH. Flint and Audrey’s flirting and tension was TOP FREAKING NOTCH. Jenny absolutely slayed the heat without the spice. Their story, their polar opposite lives, their union… This was by far my favorite in the series, and honestly probably one of my favorite books to date.

Another delightful romcom featuring the Hawthorne Brothers 🥰
I have loved this whole series! So fun and sweet. These books just make me happy.

This one focuses on Flint, the movie star brother, and he is so kind and dreamy. Too good to be true? Maybe. But it’s great for a romcom.
His security catches a woman on his secluded property as he takes a break back home in Silver Creek, NC. Turns out it’s just an innocent wildlife biologist, Audrey, who is trying to continue her rare squirrel research on the property her university used to own. She has no idea who Flint is. She doesn’t even watch movies. Her disinterest in fame makes her a perfect person to fake date Finn and divert some other romance rumors as Finn promotes his upcoming movie. It’s really cute to see these two opposites fall for each other when the faking becomes real (as it always does with this fun trope.)

I loved getting to see more of the supportive Hawthorne family and their updates, and Audrey’s sisters were a fun addition, too. It’s always fun to get swept up in the movie star world with fancy amenities. But this also has a good balance of simplicity and sweetness.

I waited on reading this installment of the series so I could get the audio and listen as well as read it. I’m so glad I did! Great audio!

Such a great romcom! Very fun series! I highly recommend it for fans of sweet romcoms.

OK THIS IS THE CUTEST BOOK EVER! Perfect for fans of a swoony, lighthearted romcom! I’ve been craving a feel-good read, and this one delivered! 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘛𝘰 𝘒𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘈 𝘔𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳 is the 4th book in the Hawthorne Brothers series, but can be read as a stand-alone, and is such a cute, family centered series.

Flint is a great character, both sweet and humble but also an outgoing flirt, while Audrey is the complete opposite in every way. She’s confident and independent, and I love this opposites attract trope so much!

This was a sweet rom-com, and I loved their communication, and ability to handle situations. I also love when he falls first, and after finishing, I had the biggest smile on my face.

I love Flint, the way he was trying to strike a compromise between his desire to be in the spotlight, but also have a part of his life be private. Audrey was super sweet and their meeting was interesting and fun. I also liked how they acknowledged at one point that they had real feelings for each other, even though they were in a fake relationship. And a lot of things happened towards the end that could've driven them apart, but they took the time to figure things out like the mature adults they were and came up with a plan for their future. I can highly recommend this entire series if you like steamy romance with fun, interesting characters. It's not necessary to read them in order, but it's nice to get to know the entire Hawthorne family.

4 stars.

This was my favorite one BY far. The concept was much more interesting than the others. I know it can be cliche, but I like when the guy is famous and she doesn't care/doesn't know he is. It was sweet and very fun. Again not a huge fan of the third act break up, but it was better than the other ones. They are so cute!! I honestly don't know who's my favorite brother. I like them all very much. Same thing for the girls. They were all good characters, but not of the really stood out to me.

oh my gosh, i loved this book. it felt like falling in love all over again for the first time. besides the whole Hollywood portion, it felt like a very really progression and the emotions of the characters were not at all blown out of proportion like they are in many romances. such a light hearted, sweet romance, with an enjoyable plot. had me kicking my feet and giggling the whole time.

I read this in a little over 24 hours. I loved this so much. The epilogue is perfect. Flint and Audrey are so cute! I love the movie star and nerdy girl trope of this book. I couldn’t put it down. Definitely read!

A fun conclusion to a sweet, cozy series. This book had more of the beautiful nature writing that I enjoyed from book one. Flint fell a little flat, but Audrey was a great leading lady. Catching up with characters from the first three books was the cherry on top!
