Knot Her Pack #2

Choosing Their Omega

Rate this book
Working as a live-in nanny for four hot hockey star Alphas? That’s got to be every Beta’s dream.

Except… it’s not quite that simple.

After losing my job and my apartment in the same day, I feel like I’ve hit rock bottom. But when Cruz Ashford, captain of the Titans NHL team, finds out I have nowhere to live, he makes me an offer that could help us

Move in with him and his three pack mates and work as a nanny for the adorable little boy they’ve adopted.

As crazy as it sounds, I say yes. It’s a chance to turn my life around after the loss of my grandmother left me buried in a mountain of medical debt, so there’s no way I can turn him down.

The only problem is, living with four gorgeous Alphas is harder than I thought it would be. Almost from the first moment I arrive at their house, the tension between us is off the charts.

I don’t know why I’m so drawn to Cruz, Knox, Lawson, and Miles. Why I can barely control my body around them. Why their delicious scents affect me so much… or why I seem to affect them too.

Until the day I start perfuming, and I finally realize the truth that’s been staring me in the face.

I’ve been wrong my whole life. I’m not a Beta. I’m an Omega.

And everything is about to change.

What you’ll find between these
Sweet Omegaverse
Curvy heroine
Hockey romance
Growly, protective men
Group scenes
Praise / dirty talk
Knotting, nesting, heats, and bonding
“Touch her and die”

If I have to read about her damn hair clips falling out ever again I’m going to rip my hair out. I’m trying to imagine what kind of hair clips she’s using that ALWAYS fall out. What was the reason???

Look, I LOVE omegaverse but this was not a good book.

The guys are identical in personality through the writing except Cruz has a hurt shoulder, Miles is also “a nerd”, and Knox didn’t like Lily for approximately .5 seconds. I love that there’s usually a grumpy and hesitant alpha that is unsure but Knox spent more time saying he didn’t like her than he actually spent being unsure about her.

They buy a company for her and it’s forgotten about two pages later. She has friends who fall off the face of the earth except for one quick showing later with little mention of the fact they haven’t talked in weeks and during that time Lily was evicted, living in her car, became a nanny, presented as an omega, and found her pack. Then she just leaves the hockey game to never be mentioned again! What a solid friendship.

The rival bad guy team has insults of an elementary schooler and gets legally blonded into admitting they PAID A GUY TO HIT HER CAR. That’s so insane! AND it’s all wrapped up in one quick chapter and everyone claps! LITERALLY their hockey team stands and applauds them multiple times in this book.

It’s the most basic of cliches left and right and the author tells more than shows what is happening. This could have been a good story but it’s lacking a lot.

DNF 56% - This started out well but by half way got really boring and there was no build up to what was next in the plot to keep me interested in reading.

Original review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Sadie Moss!

Choosing Their Omega is the second book in the Knot Her Pack series and tells the story of Lily and her men, Cruz, Knox, Lawson, and Miles.

I remember really enjoying the first book in the Knot Her Pack series, Finding Their Omega, so I was really looking forward to the second book, Choosing Their Omega. And it was such a great read! I really enjoy the Fantasy Romance genre and Sadie Moss is such a talented Romance author, so I didn’t expect anything else. Choosing Their Omega was so addictive and fast paced, and it didn’t take me long to finish this book.

Choosing Their Omega is about Lily, an Omega who thought she was a Beta, and four hockey Alphas, Cruz, Knox, Lawson and Miles. I really enjoyed reading in Lily’s perspective, she kind of reminds me of myself in some ways. I really liked how her confidence changed throughout this book and she totally deserved all the happiness she got from her Alphas. Besides Lily, I also really liked the men, all four of them are so different yet they form the perfect pack for Lily and Ben. And Ben… He’s such a cute little man, and I loved all the moments between him and Lily!

If you’re a fan of Fantasy Romance books and you don’t mind multiple partners, then I highly suggest picking up the Knot Her Pack series, or any other Sadie Moss book. She’s definitely one of my favourite Reverse Harem Romance authors, and I’m always so excited when she releases a new book. Choosing Their Omega was a great read, and the Knot Her Pack series a standalone series, so you don’t have to worry about a cliffhanger and you can enjoy a happy ending!

Boring

Sorry but this is definitely the most boring book I’ve ever read. No depth and no conflicts. The lines between characters and their thoughts are soooo corny. I just finish it because I don’t like leaving stories unfinished.

I genuinely cannot read this anymore. I cringe every time one of the MMCs opens their mouth. Why are they speaking to her like that? Also, this was so bad it kind of felt like an omegaverse parody.

It officially killed me when they start discussing her smutty books DURING HER HEAT and one of the guys just gets up and starts reading aloud one of the books just because she was trying to explain that she once read a scene with DP on it, and they act like it's a concept they've never heard before and need to research asap? idk. I'm also kind of done of having FMCs obsessed with smutty books and them being called a "dirty girl" and -literal quote from this book- "It's always the innocent-looking ones who've got a secret freaky side". First of all, gross - no one asked you. Second of all, she's in her first ever heat. Through all of this conversation, in the most out of her mind, vulnerable state she's ever been in... The disrespect. I can't.

I wanted to love this book.
I really did.
Problem is, I pay attn to details.
And apparently, Sadie does not.
The timeline was messy. The hair clip issue was kissing me off. There was no reason behind it. No explanation for it. I mean, she didn't even say it was because she was clumsy. The way Sadie drones in about the hair clips, it felt like she was setting it up to be a stalker or something was getting close enough to get to steal them but nope... It was just some randomly over done detail in the WHOLE GODDAMN BOOK!I
There were other issues...
Like the fact that although they were together they didn't FEEL together..
I will admit, at one point, I really thought it was going to be a great story and it had me in tears but then all of a sudden, it just wasn't anymore.....

DNF'd at 20%.

Lol, it's like the book wasn't edited at all.
So many random unnecessary things are mentioned (missing hairclips constantly with no explained reason), and there's zero relationship building. ZERO.
There's no logic either. These alphas just take in this "beta" without knowing her. She's living in her car, and there was just no questioning of WHY?
She quit her job die to harassment?
HR said, "Nah, didn't happen", like...
Girl, get a different fucking job or ask your friends for help.
Don't just live in your car, and then get charity from some random hockey player.
That's bimbo behavior.
She starts off a strong character, and QUICKLY turns meek...like...the whole reason Cruz liked her originally was because she was "spunky" and that lasted a whole 2 seconds. Lol its ridiculous.
It's such a shame, too, because the book premise had so much promise.
I wish it had been executed better.
God, this was awful.

I didn't hate this story, I think it more or less just wasn't my type of story. I've read so many dark romances that a "good" story is just kind of boring. It started out good but about halfway in I started to lose interest and had to force myself to finish. After the halfway mark, everything became overly predictable and honestly all they were doing is having sex and maybe some story progression. Overall, this book was just kind of eh. Wasn't terrible but I don't think I'd pick it up again to re-read it.

"I wouldn't even know what to do with my heart if you didn't want it. Because it's yours, entirely." pg. 325

Nice, sweet, hockey omegaverse reverse harem romance. Sadie Moss is a talented author and I have read a few of her books. I will be honest, I have been avoiding hockey romances for the past year. I've always heard good things, but I've never been into sports or anything so it just sounded like it would bore me. This was my first hockey romance that I've ever read and I think Sadie converted me... I'm gonna be looking to read some more.

The FMC is sweet and relatable. She is curvy and usually I don't like to read books where they are curvy because it seems like it is mentioned every other page. As someone who is curvy themself. I don't mind having a curvy lead, but when it seems like that is the only thing about them that is mentioned it can get annoying. This book wasn't like that. Yes, she had her insecurities in the beginning, and there was some comments made by hateful people in some parts later on, but it wasn't like the MAIN thing about her. Which I liked.

The MMC's were perfect book boyfriends in every way. Part of the reason I love why choose books is because you get a little of everything, you have the sweet nerdiness of one, the over the top protective one, the one that you would expect to be gruff but is a sweet teddy bear with a little trauma, the leader that rounds everyone out and relies on the FMC to round him out in return. It such a nice little circle of people that make up the family.

I also loved that there was a child already established within the pack. And this had a bit of a nanny romance feel to it as well. Ben was absolutely adorable. But his growing relationship with the FMC didn't overshadow the relationship with the guys.

My only complaint was the amount of smut. I felt like there was so much happening in the beginning, and the flow was beautiful. But once they started to be intimate it felt like there was constantly a s*x scene. Which is GOOD in a way. But there was also so much other stuff still happening around them and going on that I started skimming the spicy scenes. Which is too bad because Sadie sure knows how to write some very good smut.

3.5⭐️’s - cute and mostly predictable, and also some very sexy scenes.

The main reason why I reduced the rating: The FMC’s inner dialogue was very insecure and seemed top of mind when left alone, which was understandable in the beginning of the book and even in the beginning of her being the groups omega, but then it got repetitive and irritating even when it was placed in the middle of a scene it wasn’t warranted in. I understand it’s reiterating the FMC’s upbringing and how she was used to being treated, but hearing it a bazillion times felt like overkill.

I also didn’t feel like I got to know much about the alphas outside of the initial meeting and probably one or two quirks of each, but it all felt like “getting to know you” type stuff instead of getting to the core of that person. That said, if that was provided, I am pretty sure this book would either be a full series or very long. I wouldn’t have minded, as long as the FMC’s inner dialogue nonsense repetition didn’t keep showing up.

Overall, I really did enjoy the book and since I didn’t read the first in the (standalone) series yet, I purchased the first book to get into later.

2.5 stars, rounding to 3 because while I am annoyed af at this one, I've liked at least one other Sadie Moss book.

Context: I'm cleaning out the books that I borrowed on KU, trying to finish books using sheer stubbornness instead of DNF-ing, and this is a book that I borrowed a while ago (October 2024) and it's taken me till now (April 2025) to finish it. The sex scenes are spicy, which is good, but the plot ruins it. There's something about the writing style and the worship of her alphas (she literally says that their dreams are her dreams in a way that really gives the ick) that really rubbed me the wrong way, so I needed multiple breaks for palate cleansers in order to get through it.

This book sucks. I wish I could be nicer about it but it's literally impossible. I wanted to DNF at 65% in but by then it felt like I HAD to finish to justify wasting so much time on one book and not have it count towards my yearly goal..

Let's start with the writing. It's giving straight up wattpad and usually, I'm fine with that, as long as the storyline is decent.

This book has zero storyline. You get a damsel in distress Beta-turned-Omega mid book and then 4 Alphas who are... I mean they're fine honestly but this book has a bunch of random things happening. Nothing feels organic- the events or how the characters speak.

How FMC gets with Alphas feels forced.. then their relationship has growth... s*xually but the emotionally side isn't there for me. I found myself bored to tears reading about their pasts.

It was a lot of talking and then a lot of screwing. And even the smut scenes felt disconnected... there was a bunch of "then and then and then" and no spark, nothing that screaming passionate writing. It was very lacking.

I wish I could have liked this book. I wanted something lighthearted with lots of fluff but what I got instead was an unsettling amount of cringe and a wasted 6 hours of my life.

The meet cute of the pack and the Omega in this story is honestly a little far fetched. But it’s sweet and it’s already part of a fictional world, so far fetched meeting aside, I really enjoyed this book. The characters compliment each other well and I like how they all focus on the care of the child first before anything else. This was a longer story, but I didn’t feel like it was overly drawn out or anything. The twist at the end felt a little forced and kind of out of left field. Almost like the author wanted there to be a third act issue but was grasping at straws as to what it could be since the storyline is overall a very positive one. Worth a read if you have the time!

I never would have thought that I would absolutely love this book but I’m so happy that I gave it a chance.

Normally I’m not really into the Alpha and Omega stories but this one is a masterpiece !

The whole story was so damn lovely and I loved that there were no miscommunication between the characters.

The dynamic between the 4 Alphas and their Omega was awesome. Every one of them was special in his own way but all of them loved her unconditionally.

NGL I preferred Knox a little bit more than the others.

P.S : The level of steam in this book is something else really. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

Just went on and on.

Normally I love a romance that has a lot of little moments between the main characters. It's usually those moments of banter and ordinary connection that really make a love story. This book had some of that, but it just went on and on and didn't seem to be cohesive. Or maybe that it dragged. Or, perhaps it was the over abundance of bad "f-bombing" since it wasn't making love that they were doing. I don't know. I finished it. It had some good moments, but I was often bored, too.

Fun Read

This was my first time reading an omegaverse romance with a child in the pack...it was interesting to see how the author handled a heat and other steamy moments while they had a young child in their care.

I again really enjoyed the late presenting Omega storyline and how that changed the dynamic of the pack.

The guys being hockey players and hockey game scenes were fun BUT what was really cool was their Omega encouraging their other interests and talents.

I'm glad I tried this series and author.

I have read some books of Sadie Moss so far. Not many, but a few. And she is, unfortunately, one of those authors, who is a toss up for me. There can be books I like, and then there are the ones I can't get into at all or didn't finish at all.

The first book of the Knot Her Pack series, Finding Their Omega, while it wasn't completely bad, I had so many issues with it that it took me a week to finish it. A week is long for me. Considering I read most books, especially when I love them, within a few hours or at a max in two days. Book one got a rating of 3.5 stars from me, and I rounded it up to 4. Which is mostly my average since my rating starts from 3 to 5 stars. I nearly never rate under 3 stars in honor of the work most authors put into this. And it isn't their fault, if it doesn't hit my taste. So, you can imagine that a book has to be unreadable to get a bad rating and review from me. I can't even remember if it ever came to that. I think it was only one time, I gave a 2-star review in my life.

But anyway, Finding Their Omega was definitely not my kind of book. So, I dragged my feet a bit to start reading, Choosing Their Omega. I try to give every book and author a chance. Even when they disappointed me. But still it doesn't mean I jump on the chance to read every book from any author.

But Omegaverse is my favorite genre, and at the moment, I try to clean my OV TBR list a bit from books, that are there for a while. So, the premise of the story sounded safe and interesting enough, that I thought, ok, let's try it. And I know the author is mostly decent, even if I can't read every book of her.

I'm glad I read this book. It's not perfect. But it hit my nerves at the right time and mood. I read in a bit over a day (with some breaks, because of everyday life stuff).

The FMC Lily, while insecure and too soft, was likeable and that's something, that I'm looking for at first. I have read a lot of books, where I didn't even like the FMCs at all. Which made it hard to go through some books, since it's the main POV. The thing with the hair clip didn't really bother me, since it was meant to be a quirk of her.

I liked the guys and the little, cute kid Ben a lot, too. Though, they lacked on facets. Sure, they had their quirks and personalities. But they are mostly one dimensional. Not that special, but good enough, that I liked to read about them.

In general, the whole interactions and all, and the plot were too tame for my taste. Which is why I can understand some review, that say it was boring. Because most of the time, nothing really happens. Which was ok atm for me, because I was in the mood for something light and fluffy. But usually, I love the slightly heavier and intense stuff. Not too easy and predictable, either.

Really, it is an easy read with no big plot and the bit that was there, was without many issues resolved.

Other things, I noticed in some way: There are three Jerrys in the story. Jerry, her landlord, Jerry, the guys' lawyer and Jerry, the hockey player. It was kind of strange for me, that the author couldn't come up with different names.

Same with book one of the series, there are a lot of smutty times throughout the book. Nearly every chapter. But it didn't annoy me this time. As I said, luckily I read this at the right time and moment.

The last thing, that did kind of annoy me, was that the epilogue was too short and didn't show what I needed for it to feel it truly concluded. Like she is pregnant, but I want to see the child, the family life and how Ben takes his little sister. Then what about her bookstore and her getting a degree? The other Grizzlies members? There was so much left open, that I was disappointed a bit.

But overall, I did enjoy reading it. And that's what counts.

8/10 enjoyable read with a few minor issues

It’s a really sweet story with lovable characters and a low angst plot.
There are some writing issues that should improve with experience and a good editor.
But overall it was a wonderful read. The praise and dominance is incredible.

Now the critique:

My personal pet peeve is having a character plan to do something while explaining it in great depth then immediately doing that thing and explaining what they are doing when nothing has changed from the plan.
Or, similarly, Doing something then explaining in detail to another character who didn’t see it. Overall it doesn’t detract from the story much but it is a clear indication of overall writing skill level.

The major conflict is my biggest complaint. It honestly makes no sense until well after it’s already over

There are a bunch of 4th wall breaks that I am personally not a fan of. It’s probably not going to bother many other people but the constant references to “romance novel tropes” and what happens in them compared to her “real” life kept taking me out of the book. There is a reason why stage performers don’t constantly point out their costumes even to say “this can’t possibly be a costume, it’s too realistic” unless it is a comedy.
There is a book called Plus Two by Jillian west that has a romance author main character that is a good model for what works. It works because she’s not talking about how realistic or not what is happening is, it is more about watching her take inspiration from the world around her, and watching her use her writing to inspire her “real” life. It pulls you deeper into the story rather than constantly reminding you that you are currently reading a romance novel .

The phrase “sports players” nobody who actually plays any sport refers to themselves as sports players. It’s just awkward and unnatural.

Great ideas, a solid foundation, needs some practice with execution but I’m eager to see what comes next.
The story has all the right vibes and I will definitely be reading more by this author

‘Choosing Their Omega’ is a wonderful, sweet omegaverse romance with all the comfort and warmth that makes this series so addictive. This book continues the cozy, love-filled atmosphere of the first, focusing on trust, family, and deepening bonds. While it doesn’t have a lot of high-stakes tension, it delivers a heartwarming story that’s perfect for anyone looking for a feel-good read.

Plot: ★★★★☆
The plot is sweet and simple, with a strong focus on emotional connections rather than dramatic conflict. While there’s not a huge build-up to the climax, and the tension is fairly low, the story remains engaging due to its comforting nature. It’s more about watching the relationships develop than navigating intense drama, which works well for this type of story.

Character: ★★★★☆
Lily is a wonderful, kindhearted protagonist, and her journey is easy to root for. Her dynamic with her alphas is beautifully tender, and their devotion to her is incredibly sweet. One of the most endearing parts of the book is her relationship with Ben, the alphas’ young boy - watching their bond form adds an extra layer of warmth and emotional depth to the story. The pack dynamics feel natural and comforting, making it easy to fall in love with the characters.

Setting: ★★★★★
The world is so well described that it feels like you could step right into it. The warmth and safety of the packhouse, the surrounding nature, and the interactions within their small community all enhance the cozy, protective atmosphere of the book.

Engagement: ★★★★☆
Though the tension is on the lower side, the book is still engaging thanks to the wonderful character interactions and the emotional depth of the relationships. It’s the kind of story that makes you want to curl up and keep reading, purely for the comforting, feel-good vibes.

Readability: ★★★★★
The writing flows effortlessly, making it a quick and easy read. The dialogue is natural, the pacing is steady, and the emotional beats land well. It’s an immersive and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

Enjoyment: ★★★★☆
I really enjoyed this book! While it didn’t have as much tension as I might have liked, it was still a heartwarming, addictive read. The relationships were beautiful, the family dynamics were touching, and the romance was as sweet as ever. It’s the perfect book for when you’re in the mood for something soft, loving, and easy to sink into.

‘Choosing Their Omega’ is a gentle, comforting omegaverse romance with lovable characters, a cozy setting, and all the sweetness you could want. If you love stories centered around love, trust, and deep emotional connections, this book (and series) is a fantastic choice!

DNF'd at 35%. The first 30 ish% was good, seemed like a good foundation but then it just jumped way too fast and I couldn't get into it. The premise is Lily the FMC is a beta for her whole life, she doesn't have any family left, and she quits her job (for good reason) and gets evicted and is living in her car. She gets hired to be the nanny for this pack of 4 alphas that plays hockey, whose adopted son is the nephew of one of the alphas.

The rest of this has spoilers for the first part of the book.

-----------------------

She's known them/lived with them for like MAYBE 6 days before she presents as an omega while at the zoo with the uncle alpha (Knox) and the 3 yo she nannies. She goes to the governing body that protects omegas. That's all fine. But then it's like sooo much was skipped and suddenly the pack she was nannying for has decided with very little actual on page discussion that they're going to go for her, which I could live with, but we get no details of Lily's stay at the omega facility, suddenly the pack is just there and taking her home. Then in that same night/within 2 hours of leaving the omega facility gets sexual with one of the alphas (Lawson), even though - again - she only knew them for 6 days max and there's no real discussion/relationship building between her and Lawson at any point until now. I think it could have been salvageable if it were either the alpha that originally found her (Cruz) or the uncle one (Knox) from the zoo because their relationships were more developed than hers with the guy she started with, but even so it was all just way too fast and ruined all the work put in to the first 30%.

I realize this is a work of fiction. 🤔

But the rage I felt after reading that quote made my eye twitch. 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡😒😒😒😒😒🖕🏼

I can assure those of you wo kids that being home and caring for kids and a home is not “not contributing” or not “helping out”.

And IDGAF if she was writing this in the voice of her fmc. It was beyond disgusting. Beyond. I now officially have a effing trigger. Thanks Sadie. Tyvm.

Also. The writing was not stellar in this book. It felt rough at times, esp change of scenes mid chapter. It just jumped from one thing to the next wo any smooth transition at all.

While I like omegaverse books, these days it feels like authors rush to put out these books and don’t take the time to fully finish.

This is a pretty active author. So tbh it surprised me to read this book bc it did not feel like one of hers at all.

I have nothing further to add until I can move past my rage at the author’s insensitive comments about sahm and sahws.

Ok. I have finally cooled down. I am still sad about the overall writing bc it just doesn’t feel like her past books such as “The Vampire’s Fae” which was so well written and fleshed out and I have re’cd to so many folks to read. This book feels choppy and rushed.
Lots of smex. Lots of knots. So a decent smutty read for those of us who like a fluffy generally low angst read.

I love this book. And everything in it. Lily and Ben and the guys💘🥹🤌. Especially her being a bookworm and her alphas making her fantasies and the hot scenes from the books she loved reading and had bookmarked come true. And the bit where Lawson starts reading books of her preferred genre because of her, to understand her better, is one of my favourite things about Lawson and Lily.💝💖
I loved reading this book. All of it.
And

Yes the part where she keep loosing her hair clips was a bit weird at times at the beginning and middle of the story. until the end part of the book where she still keeps loosing those hair clips so much that the guys started keeping some with them for her all the time🫶. I admit i didn't get that while reading like why her loosing those hair clips was such recurring part of the story? but i made peace with the thought as the book came to its end that, its maybe just part of her quirks that make her more relatable, that forgetfulness, like some people keep loosing only sock from the pair( it keeps happening to me bcz)so maybe it just mentioned in the story to make her a bit like real? Maybe? But still because i love the whole book Story, plot, spice and everything. I like how the author put together this story this way. So i am going to trust that maybe that was it. And if i am wrong....As a whole it's not even a big thing really. I personally like things with a touch of imperfection. So i love all of it. As the story ended i even like that bit about her.🩷💖

Thankyou for the awesome read author. I had a great time read this book.🩷💖🤍💝💘🤍

Choosing Their Omega

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 Stars
🌶️🌶️🌶️ 3/5 Spice

Choosing Their Omega was my first read by author Sadie Moss. I was really intrigued by the premise of the book, because I’ve been on book hangover since finishing Unwanted and decided to give this one a go. I really enjoyed the characters and storyline, but really struggled with the pacing. I think the setup of how Lily comes into the lives of Cruz, Miles, Lawson, Knox and Ben is great, however when Lily’s omega comes out and her being sent to the Omega Resource Division offices is really rushed and doesn’t feel fully flushed out. I also had some issues with the alphas seemingly to fall for her but don’t rush to try and be with her. Like it’s explained later, but still doesn’t make sense to me. I also didn’t enjoy that bonding and biting seemed to really be on the back burner even though it’s mentioned several times that they aren’t courting her (and in some places they are), because she is their omega. I was waiting for the are they going to bond yet moment and that doesn’t come until the very end. I did enjoy how Ben was at the forefront of everything the pack does, but that final scene of having sex in public around children (even though it was a ‘private box’) was a bit cringy for me.

While this wasn’t my favorite OV I felt like this story had a lot of potential it just seemed to drag a lot. Definitely a good first read for someone new to OV.

This was a very mild (bland) book. It started out OK, but then pretty much nothing happened. There was basically no plot at all after the first couple chapters. There was a very basic climax at the end that was also not very exciting, either.

There was one editing issue that jumped out at me, but could have just been a typo, so I'm not going to mention it. Overall, there were no other issues that took me out of the story.

The story, though... well, there just wasn't much of it. It was so boring. There was very little plot after she went back home with them. Nothing ever happened. Then at the very end, it felt like the car crash was just an afterthought to throw in there before they all got their HEA. It just wasn't handled very well.

The hair clips! Anyone who has ever taken any creative writing class or even read a lot of books knows that you don't keep bringing up something like this unless it becomes important to the story, later. Her having to call about them at the time of the crash doesn't quite cut it. There was a huge build-up with these clips, and then just a quick fizzle. There was no payout.

If you like OV books, you can read this one, but I hope you don't want anything to really happen. I wouldn't read this one again, and I doubt I would recommend it to others. It's just took bland for me.

Not for me

This is a quick, easy read. Since it isn't a series, everything happens quickly. There's nothing wrong with the story, but it just wasn't my thing. I felt like there was no real plot. It's a woman and 4 men getting together and building a life. Again, nothing wrong with that. I just find it boring. I like mystery, adventure, drama, etc. There's really very little or none of that in this book. This book will give you tons of steamy scenes with very little depth.

The main reason this book wasn't for me is that the society isn't really explained. What I mean by that is we have alphas, betas, and omegas. But guess what? Nobody is a shifter as far as I could tell. Why could alphas only mate omegas? I honestly have no idea! Why does this society value omegas over betas? I have no idea. What was a betas purpose if the "pack" (yes, it's called a pack even though nobody shifts into an animal) doesn't require one? I have no idea! Why is there that vocabulary at all if nobody is a shifter? I have no idea! Maybe I missed something because I did skim quite a bit out of boredom. But I just didn't get the society.

This book may be your thing, but it wasn't for me. I'm a little disappointed because I usually like this author's books.

I've really been enjoying the standalones in this series so far. If you're looking for a lighter read with minimal drama, this is a great one to pick up to use as a palate cleanser. The relationship in this book between Lily and her alphas was a really wholesome one. I feel like this group balanced each other well, knowing when to help and when to push one another to be better or take care of themselves. They had so much support for each others' interests and hobbies, bringing Lily's fantasies to life and inspiring others to show another side of themselves that isn't typically seen on the ice. Just the attention they paid one another, remembering the little things mentioned in passing, it showed how much they really listened and cared.

Ben was such a great addition to this story. I find that many books that involve kids always have them forgotten about after a few scenes but Ben played such a huge part in this book and in Lily and the guys' lives. I understand it was a nanny book but it went far beyond that involving him in almost everything that was happening and having an authentic bond forming between him and Lily. Tons of sweet moments.
