She’s one of the most beloved residents of Whale Harbor… …and one of the loneliest.
Although it’s been several years since her husband’s death, schoolteacher Gabrielle Watson has never truly found her footing in the aftermath of his loss. To make matters worse, she’s estranged from her son Braden, who works as an architect in Washington. She finds solace in books and in the time she spends with her students, but still, she can’t shake the feeling that she’s a bit stuck.
When a twist of fate brings one of her favorite authors, Thomas Thurmond, to town, the sparks that fly between them jolt Gabrielle out of her old routine. For the first time in a long time, she finds herself thinking about love and romance. But is Thomas interested in more than just friendship?
After Braden loses his job and returns to Whale Harbor, things get even more complicated. As mother and son struggle to reconnect, it turns out that Thomas might be the one who can help them bridge the gap.

For her part, Darla has decided to set up Whale Harbor’s first art museum. Although it proves to be a bigger undertaking than she expected, with Rick’s help and support, she’s determined to make it one of Whale Harbor’s most exciting attractions.

Fiona Baker hones in on the relationship between author Thomas Thurmond, visiting the town of Whale Harbor, and widowed schoolteacher Gabrielle Watson. It's sweet to see the developing romance between the mature couple of Thomas and Gabrielle. At the same time, Gabrielle's architect son Braden has quit his job in Washington and returned home. Braden's relationship with his late dad wasn't the greatest and he's avoided returning to his home town. Now he hopes for some "healing". The town itself is a character and fosters the giving spirit and cooperative nature among town residents. Characters from the two previous books are present in this third book, and a huge snowstorm plays a significant part in events. Each time I read a book in the series, I feel like I'm part of Whale Harbor and look forward to the next story.
Gabrielle is feeling lonely. She is really missing her late husband. She hasn’t seen her son, Braden, in a while. They talk on the phone but not as much as Gabrielle would like and it always felt strained. Unfortunately, Braden and his father had a difficult relationship. His father wanted him to join the family business, but Braden dreamed of becoming an architect. His father, David, did not understand or support his dream. Can Gabrielle and Braden get back the Mother/Son relationship they once had? Will Braden come home for Christmas?
I enjoyed catching up with the residents of whale Harbor, new, and not so new. I was interested in their lives, the activities, the town, traditions, and the relationships they’re building. It was fun to see how they helped and cared for each other and how they dealt with the storms of life. If you enjoy women’s fiction, you should read Whale Harbor Reunions.
I really enjoyed seeing more of my familiar friends from previous stories. It was wonderful seeing them grow and mature. Adding new faces keeps it fun and engaging. I especially liked how Thomas handled Gabrielle’s son. It was compassionate and heartfelt. It shows people dealing with real life issues in such an engaging style that hooks you in. Thank you Fiona for another wonderful story.
This was a very uplifting story of second chances. Thomas and Gabrielle finding love after losing their partners, Braeden coming home after holding on to ill feelings about his late father and mending fences with his Mom. It's about communities coming together and enjoying the holidays. Really good book.
I love a heat warming story anytime and Fiona Baker weaves a story that comes to life. I enjoyed the characters as they work through life's issues and with the guidance and wisdom of friends or family life becomes whole again. I highly recommend this series.
Absolutely loved meeting Gabrielle and Thomas. It's nice to find a story about finding love later in life. I love that this story catches up with the previous stories' characters too.
I’m enjoying the light reading. This is book 3 of the series. They added a few new characters snd those were interesting. But again just a book to read for relaxation
