Rate this book
A clean, fun cozy mystery that will keep you guessing until the end.

Suzie and Mary are shocked to learn that someone has been abducted in Garber. But they have little time to think about it as there’s an influx of new guests who are there to report on, and investigate, the crime and try to free the hostage.

Then another mystery is added to the mix when one of their guests is found murdered. Is the murder related to the kidnapping? If so, how? Suzie and Mary can’t help but do a little snooping. With their lovable Lab Pilot by their side, they are determined to get to the truth. But that is turning out to be a lot more complicated than they anticipated. The victim was a cut-throat reporter, and they are quick to discover a long list of suspects and clues.

Suzie and Mary head straight toward a whole lot of trouble. Will they be able to solve the mysteries before they become the next victims?

Anchors and Abduction is the twenty-sixth book in the Dune House Cozy Mystery Series. If you like strong female sleuths, enduring friendships, and loyal dogs, then you’ll love this page-turning cozy mystery.

I got to read this as part of Cindy’s ARC team and I loooove being a part of her team.

I never fail to give honest reviews even when provided with ARCs. I had a really hard time reading this one. Normally I can blow through a cozy in one sitting, especially one of Cindy’s. This one was really difficult for me and it took just over a week for me to read. I had to read it in small bits.

This one has two mysteries. The one was slightly predictable, which I’ve never been able to predict the crook in one of her books. HOWEVER - most cozy mysteries are predictable and that’s part of the cozy. So that’s not part of the lower rating at all. The second mystery was a plot twist and it threw me for a loop. I thought we would just be dealing with the one when I started the book so that was a pleasant surprise honestly.

I think I had a hard time with how many supporting characters there were in this one. It was a little hard to follow and I didn’t really feel like they were all necessary. It seemed like there were too many paths to possibly go down and it was a little cluttered for a cozy mystery.

Overall, the ending was cozy and our dynamic sleuthing duo was as cozy as ever. And Pilot sure offered his perfect cozy cuddles.

I still throughly enjoyed the book!

Well my tooth is a bit better, but still hurts. My dentist doesn’t have an opening for 3 weeks! I suppose if my tooth doesn’t get any better I’ll get on the cancellation list. People cancel appointments all the time, so I’m sure I can be seen sooner. Yes, this is my blog. Lol. Forgive me if the following review I’ve typed up doesn’t make any sense - I’m sorta out of it from pain medication…

Suzie and Mary are involved in finding the person that abducted a local. Shortly after the abduction someone is murdered. Are they related? Most likely; however, Jason, Suzie’s cousin and local detective mentioned their town is fairly peaceful and has a low crime rate. He believes the abduction and murder have to be related! Funny, because if you’ve been reading this series since Book 1, you’ll know that there are murders in every book. That’s 26 murder in about 2 years and the population is probably close to 10,000. C’mon, the town is anything but peaceful. Lol.

So, a reporter that is staying at the Inn was murdered and a few of the locals are suspect in Suzie and Mary’s eyes. And another thing, was the abduction staged or is the person actually at risk of being hurt? The abductors are demanding ransom from the abductees mother who is a wealthy clothing designer. The FBI is involved and the FBI Agent on the case is staying at the Inn. He doesn’t want the mother to pay the ransom. He wants to catch the snatchers, but the mother just wants her son home. So what does she do? Does she leave the money herself without involving the FBI or does she let the FBI Agent help?

Well, the man that was taken does make it home, but now the Agent is suspect in the killing of the reporter. I had my suspicions of what was going on and who did the killing, but it wasn’t until the very end when I found out who did what and it was definitely a surprise. And while Suzie and Mary were snooping, they got themselves into a pickle that involved a gun in their faces. Oopsie, maybe they should have been more careful and just gassed it when they had the chance. But then they wouldn’t have been saved by an unlikely person.

Next is Book 27 Friends, Family, and Fugitives
Cathy is in town in this one and she’s just as curious as get mother Mary. ☺️

Great book!!!!

I love this series!!!!
Suzie and Mary are getting Dune House ready for their guests when a well known reporter is coming to stay there. WHY? Wes, Mary's boyfriend comes to tell them there had been a kidnapping. And the FBI had been called in. And they need to stay at the B&B during the investigation.
Phil Meyers the reporter and the agent clash when they see each other in the front hall. Phil has been a thorn in agent Monroe bottom from past cases.
And things go really bad fast. And there are more questions when the reporter is missing! Now you have to get this book to find out!!!!!

ANCHORS & ABDUCTION

Another great Dune House Cozy Mystery! The son of the wealthiest woman in town has been kidnapped & the FBI & A reporter descend on Dune House to stay while the investigation goes on. The next day, A body is found by the docks & it is the reporter! He isn't liked by the kidnap victim's mother, A realtor in town, or the lead FBI agent so it's a mystery indeed as to who shot him & tried to dump his body in the ocean! As usual, Suzy & Mary are determined to find out who killed Phil & who kidnapped the young man!

This is my honest review after reading an ARC copy of the book.

As always the dune house series is a lighthearted mystery. This story follows Mary and Suzie as they solve a kidnapping and murder in their small town. There are many twists and turns in the story leading you to guess the killer until the end.

Murder

Good book, you don't realize who done it until very near the end of the book. So many people with their cover ups and lies. Makes you finish to make sure you know who did in Phil!

Still enjoying the mysteries and characters in this series. I do feel like in the last couple of books that Susie has come across as more pushy, almost mean.

kidnappings and Ransoms

Two kidnappings can’t stop Suzie and Mary from solving the crimes. There were plenty of twists and turns with many suspects!
