With a string of unsolved murders up and down the Mississippi River, the FBI assembles a task force, assigning their best Minnesota field agent, Grace Ford, to partner with an agent from their Louisiana office. Despite their culture clash, the two must work together to traverse the country, crack the hardest cases—and to stop the next killer before it’s too late.
Unusually low tides reveal a string of bodies, left to drown, and the mark of a new serial killer. Grace must venture down south, out of her backyard and her comfort zone, to crack the case—but this killer may just be one step ahead of her.

Although the storyline was very interesting and unique to most of the mysteries, I’ve read recently, the editing was very distracting.
Grace, an FBI agent, is called to the Mississippi river as a new task force has been created to handle multiple murders that have happened there. She is paired with a new partner, Dylan, in trying to solve a series of murders along the Mississippi river line. Several murders have occurred. The bodies are found along the coastline at swimming and fishing areas. They are bound and gagged with toxic gags. They are then partially buried in the mud in the toxic river bank. It seems the local chemical company is to blame and that’s where the investigation starts. The first two bodies that are found were former members of the chemical plant. But the murders are happening back to back and there’s very little time for them to solve this series of crimes. As the investigation continues more bodies are discovered that are not linked to the chemical plant. Suspects are appearing all over the place in all walks of life and it becomes a huge chore for them to zero in and get evidence on any particular one.
As far as editing goes, I don’t think anyone edited it. There are grammatical errors and errors in word placement. I don’t think I’ve ever seen or read a story with so many confusing word placements. I know this sounds weird, but I just had to create my own sentences from time to time. I would’ve given it a lower rating based on the editing, except that the story line was unique, and I enjoyed that part of the book.
The location of this story strikes a chord with me as I live in Arkansas and am very familiar with this area in the story. The research Grace and her partner do to connect clues is amazing and enlightening. These books are so well written I have ordered and preordered the whole set. Cudoes to Molly Black!
I've read book one now book two both of I'm giving a five star rating . I couldn't put them down a great thriller the relationship of the two FBI agents complete each other
Loved this book. Read it in one day. After reading Nearly Mine I had to read #2 in the series. Can not wait to get to #’s 3&4.only Black has mastered the art of the page turner.
Molly Black has written books that appeal to me. I love all the books I have read. They keep me trying to figure out who the murderer is before they are found by the searchers.
