When we are really hungry, we can pop something in the microwave and it is ready to eat in minutes. When we want something we can't afford, we can use credits cards to get what we want right now. In a culture where we are used to fast results, it can be difficult to wait on God's answers to our prayers. But what if he has already answered us and we don't even know it? Karen Barber takes a fresh approach to prayer as she helps readers discover God's sometimes unlikely answers. With fascinating, real-life stories, she reveals the many ways God responded to the prayers of ordinary people: with supernatural miracles, inner nudges, mysterious events, humorous insights, and more. Barber's writing style will engage readers while the stories, Scriptures, and godly wisdom offer life-changing power. Each chapter is sure to shake up notions about what God's responses "should" look like and challenge readers to discover what they really do look like.
I really enjoyed this book. The author explores the many ways that God answers prayers. If we pay closer attention we will see that God is answering prayers much more often than we think. She says that there is a misconception that answer means resolution. That is not the case. An answer is the beginning of a conversation. God wants to open the line of communication where we are often obsessed with finding a resolution to the problem. Many times God answers our prayers but leaves the resolution to us. In the closing chapter she talks about a prayer experiment where she challenged herself to wite down 100 answers to prayer in her journal. This change her awareness of how God answers prayers. It also changed the way she prayed. She became more focused as she began to anticipate finding God's answers. This book is chock-full of real life examples, each one personally verified by the author or experienced in her own prayer life.
