Blaze Whoever says money can solve all your problems is a damn liar. It only creates unnecessary headaches and does nothing to erase bitter memories.
Deep down, I’m still the same guy I’ve always been. No matter how many zeros are in my bank account. No matter how far I run, or how much richer I become. Where I came from will never change.
I’m tired of pretending. It’s why I’ve come back to my hometown. To the simple life, to clearing my mind and finding the balance that’s always just out of reach. No suits, no city living, no cheats and liars, and definitely no complications.
But the funny thing is, there’s a situation I wasn’t prepared for. The ranch hand on my best friend’s farm with a shy smile and talented hands. River is easygoing, confident and carefree, my total opposite.
Maybe an unexpected complication is exactly what I need to make things easy again. Maybe finding my way back to who I truly am is easier if I’m not alone.
River I don't need much to be happy. I have my job at Broken Horn Ranch, my custom furniture building on the side, and a standing date to dinner with my dad every Friday night.
Life doesn’t need excitement or fancy adventures to be fulfilling. Things are completely good just the way they are. There’s no sense toppling my perfectly balanced apple cart.
But I wasn’t expecting the tall, dark, and handsome man who arrived at the ranch on horseback and sent my comfortable, ordinary world spinning. Blaze is the boss’s best friend and a part owner of the ranch. His brilliant smile masks his hidden troubles, and if I had a few pennies to spare for his thoughts, I’d spend every last one.
Maybe I don’t have everything I need after all. Maybe I need him .
Blaze is the second book in The Broken Ranch series and can be read as a standalone. Expect to find two men in their forties remembering what it’s like to be kids again while falling in love, a new hobby making spoons, an abundance of romantic gestures and a super swoony sleigh ride.
RM is an introverted Canadian author who likes to write about love while freezing in the winter.
Her mission is to always make you swoon and snort laugh, sometimes even in public.
She talks to her cat, Moon, and sometimes people. She married her prince charming, who often inspires her characters, but still can't place dirty clothes in the hamper.
When she's not writing swoony men to fall in love with, she's in her garden providing mosquitoes with an alternative food source. She can also be found inventing new swear words on the golf course.

This is one of the sweetest books I've ever read. Blaze and River were so true to themselves and very beautiful together that this story stole my heart from the first page. Blaze has a lot of money, and I mean billionaire-kind-of-money, but he lives the cowboy life at the ranch that he's built with his friend Martin. He ran away from a life he was not happy with and is just trying to start a new one. River is a simple man that doesn't need much in his life, he's just happy working at the ranch and on his wood carving hobby/side job. They meet and even though there is insta-attraction, they take their sweet time before they get together, but I absolutely loved it that way because it fit perfectly both their personalities. Their romance is slow burn, the good kind as they become friends first and after a year they finally decide to take a step forward and build something together. I enjoyed so much watching them getting to know each other and falling in love. Blaze has emotional scars that run deep, River also has his own but being together is the best healing they both can get. I liked that they first became friends and got along so well that moving forward into a relationship just felt so natural. I also found River's father's acceptance very moving, their relationship was beautiful and their love could be felt through the pages. I loved this book so much that I don't even know what else to say about it other than you need to read it. It's a lovely romance, with two amazing MCs that touched my heart and made me sigh. Their love story is slow, but oh so perfect. There are so many sweet gestures and also many swoony moments. It's one of those novels that leave you with a warm heart and a goofy smile. It's a very romantic story, very well written and very enjoyable.
I was really excited about this one because city-slicker-works-on-ranch is one of my favorite tropes. Unfortunately, the author's approach to the trope was the opposite of what I wanted and the writing style was weird and not enjoyable.
My biggest issue is that Blaze is a billionaire city boy who has actually spent significant time at his best friend's ranch so he's fully comfortable living a rancher's lifestyle when he arrives. The summary does indicate that the ranch he goes to work at is in his hometown but the blurb doesn't tell readers that Blaze is a seasoned cowboy who will settle into life at the ranch instantly and he's even looked upon as an authority figure. The character arc I was hoping for wasn't going to happen so that was strike one. If an author is going to take an unusual but boring approach to a common trope, I think that needs to be advertised up front so readers aren't going into the book with expectations that the author has no intention of meeting.
Strike two was the author's decision to speed through the MC's getting-to-know-each-other time by telling instead of showing us that they bonded during their weeks of guarding sheep together. We only get a tiny scene and during that scene, we're told the MCs only said hi and bye to each other each day but didn't interact otherwise. They just sat on their horses on opposite sides of the meadow, ogling each other. This is absurd! If these guys are spending about 14 hours a day together, every day for WEEKS then obviously, they would have talked and gotten to know each other. Not only does the author want us to believe that it didn't happen but then the author changes their mind and tells readers a few pages later that the MCs had gotten to know each other well during their sheep guarding weeks.
Strike three was the awkward writing style combined with the author's disorganized plotting. The situation I mentioned in the previous paragraph is one example but then there was a much weirder one. The MCs are guarding sheep in one scene and there's a long, boring discussion over whether a young helper at the ranch house will be allowed to start doing ranch hand things. In the next scene, we're told weeks have passed and the MCs have bonded during that time and oh, by the way - River just got back from visiting his father in the hospital. The problem with that last tid-bid is that the author writes about it as if readers were aware of the trip and that River's father was in the hospital. It gave me whiplash because there had been no mention of River's father, hospitals or River going to visit him in the previous parts of the book. In addition, the author writes in present tense and while that normally doesn't matter to me, the author's weird approach to storytelling made the present tense feel really awkward.
Overall, this was a big disappointment because I loved the premise and Blaze's strong southern accent but the author's strange approach to the storytelling and writing means I can't continue.
I picked this book because I was in the mood for a good butch cowboy story. What I got instead was a very sweet and mushy love story. At first I was disappointed, but as I read on I just fell in love with River and Blaze. So if you’re looking for a sweet low angst love story with a slow burn you’re going to love it.
After realizing that there's more to life than trying to get even more money and move up the corporate ladder, Blaze goes back home to help his best friend run the ranch that they co-own. It's definitely a change of pace for Balze, but it's a good change for him.
River is a simple man. He loves working on the ranch, and he has a small furniture building and wood carving business on the side that he does purely out of enjoyment for the craft. He's happy with how his life is. But when a tall, handsome stranger arrives on the ranch, his simple world changes, and he wants something new in his life.
Thank you to the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
I had the pleasure of reading Colby earlier this year, and I enjoyed it. When I saw the blurb for this one, I was excited about it, and I ended up really liking this one. Blaze and River are such a sweet couple, and they have a very healthy and mature relationship. Though they are both in their late 30s and early 40s, there is still a lot of self-discovery in this one, which adds so much more depth to the story. Blaze is a sweet and funny low-angst read that doesn't shy away from heavy subjects such as grief and finding yourself. River and Blaze have become my new favorite couple on the ranch, and I'm excited to see what the rest of the series has in store!
Blaze releases June 8th, so make sure to preorder your copy or get it on release day!
When I think that nothing coule be better than Colby, here comes Blaze I love it, Blaze and River are so adorable togehter and River's father is the dream of every gay person's father. Tottaly recommend this amazing book

After reading Colby, I had such high expectations for Blaze and this one delivered in every way possible. It was sweet and swoony and I couldn't help but fall in love with Blaze and River, they were very well rounded and developed characters and absolutely perfect for one another. River is so patient with Blaze, understanding he has been burned it the past, and I loved how there was so much communication from these two!! The author did an amazing job building on the characters and the plot, allowing me to be fully transported to their world, and it was just as amazing as the first book! I can't wait for the next book in the story!
Well, R. M. Neill did it again. She wrote a fabulous book that I literally inhaled, that took me on a joyous ride of discovery, and made me fall in love all over again with the men of the Broken Horn Ranch.
Blaze is a billionaire not quite in hiding anymore on his best friend’s ranch that he has a part stake in. He’s healing from his disastrous time in the city, where he made money and did good things, but also got hurt by a lover badly. River is a quiet hand that has earned the respect of all the men on the ranch. River finds Blaze intriguing, but he senses the hurt inside him and backs off. Will these two ever get their wires uncrossed? Can Blaze rebuild what his ex broke to give someone else another chance in his life?
When I started this reading this book, I broke my cardinal rule for reading. I started it at bedtime and on the night before I had specific plans for the morning. Double Whammy! I wanted to laugh-cry when I got to a certain part, because I could picture it in my head even though I’ve never seen the show spoken of before. Let me just say 🔥🔥🔥🔥!!! Blaze is more than steam though, it is romance on such a scale that I want my husband to read it. It is the continuation of a series where we see peeks of what’s to come, what may come, and characters past. It’s comfort in parental relationships and friendships that stand the test of time and the beginnings of a found family for Blaze. I’m not over exaggerating the excitement I have for R. M. Neill’s writing. Her books bring me to tears usually in happiness. They make me laugh. I’m always smiling. What more can you want from a story than that kind of joy? ❤️

Blaze is a really sweet, low angst romance set on the Broken Horn Ranch. We do start the beginning of the story a little bit before the first book, just to establish Blaze's move to the ranch, away from the city after he sold his business, but then we're back on the timeline following book one, Colby, and seeing how the slow build up of friendship develops into more between him and River. These two men together make for such a wonderful read as it's low drama, a good amount of heat between them once they decide to move forward but there is a little bit of angst when it comes to the past. For Blaze it's what he went through with his ex and his childhood, and for River it's the loss of his mother. It's clear as they get to know each other and build they're relationship what they can offer each other, that support and care that's been missing, along with the companionship and romance that having a partner brings. The ranch is a great place to be with a lot of interesting characters. I can't wait for Alec's story with the hints that we get about it in this one. It's also good to read more of Blaze and Dan's friendship, as it's with Blaze's help that Dan is able to own and run the ranch, helping all of the rescues that they do. A worthy romance for both men, showing that money doesn't bring you the happiness that the perfect partner can bring. Definitely a recommended read and another hit from R.M. Neill. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
After reading this book I realised I don’t need drama to enjoy the story. This was one of those, heartwarming and wholesome ☺️
R.M. Neill is a new author to me, and I was lucky to win a copy of Blaze in a giveaway on Facebook. It’s wonderful how some books find our way to us ☺️
Blaze sells his successful business in the big city and comes back to his hometown to have a simple life. He was sure he was familiar with the environment he was coming back to, only he didn’t expect to meet a shy and handsome guy who works at his friend’s ranch, River.
I have to say this book is not about what’s happening in the story, it’s more about the feeling it gives you. It’s men in their forties who still blush on dates, who court each other and don’t find it silly to give flowers. It’s about proud dads, supportive friends and learning a new intricate hobby. It’s absolutely charming. It’s about human connection and grown men getting their chance to share everyday experiences with someone they care about and who cares about them.
And yes, Blaze does look good on a horse wearing his cowboy hat and Aviator sunglasses ☺️😌
This book was so good. I love the relationship between Blaze and River. I like how even though Blaze was afraid of being hurt he still took the time to try and get together with River. Such a heartwarming story.💓💓
I absolutely loved Blaze and River’s book so much it was such a beautiful read. RM Neill’s book always make my heart happy. Would recommend all of her books to everyone.
Have you ever read a story and know it could have been so much more? Maybe it's related to Colby (the first in the series) detonating on paper, and Blaze had high expectations to follow suit. Don't get me wrong, this was such a sweet and heartwarming story, but that was Blaze and River’s persona. It proves that money can't buy everything because Blaze’s confidence was broken.
These two were an exciting couple to get to know together. One's hesitancy, along with the other's patience, adding to their provocative banter, was a flirtatious, steamy buildup. And that powerswitch took me for a loop! Unexpected by their personalities. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the romantic aspect of the book. Both characters were fiercely passionate and perfect together!
I am intrigued and excited about Alec’s story; having emotions for a straight guy usually leads to hot, spicy scenes!!
This book was a super sweet love story! You will fall in love with River and Blaze and tear up over how romantic, loving and sweet these two are!! I was gifted an ARC for this and it's my first for this Author and I WILL be reading more from her!! I have to go back and read Colby and I'm super excited for Alec's story next!!! Highly Recommend!!
There are just a few authors that are my "go to". I don't read the blurbage of the book. I just know it's going to be good. RM Neil is at the top of my list. You will never be disappointed. I loved Blaze when we first met him in Colby's story. Blaze, a billionaire, who was not happy working in the city anymore. He sold his company and traded his suits for jeans. He moved back to the ranch he owned with his best friend, Dan. Blaze now wakes at 6am, builds chicken coops and herds sheep. And couldn't be happier with his decision.
River, who works on the ranch, is the opposite of Blaze. He is a happy, carefree guy. When the two get together, River shows Blaze what a real relationship is. River did the most romantic things for Blaze.
If you want to read a sweet, funny and light story? Then you have to read R.M.Neill's books. Especially after reading a much heavier story with harsh themes and you need some comfort. And by this I don't mean that her books aren't exempt from some difficult themes, but her focus isn't on them, but on how the characters develop from them.
In this instance, the author brings us the story of Blaze and River, showing us how despite being adult men, they don't necessarily have their lives figured out, especially in the case of Blaze.
It shows us a Blaze that despite having achieved his goals of rising out of the poverty he was born into and becoming a successful and truly wealthy man, he is at a point in his life where he feels empty and confused. In order to achieve that wealth and fit into that world, he had to change a lot about himself and along the way, he lost a big part of himself. Used and betrayed by the people around him, which leaves him even more defeated inside, he decides to do a 180 degree turn and leave that life behind to go back to his roots and see if there he can rediscover himself and also find a true purpose in his life. So he returns to his town and works on the ranch he silently co-owns with his best friend, Dan, who is the one that supported him all those years. There he meets River, and is immediately and deeply drawn to this man who seems to enjoy the simple things in life and whom everyone on the ranch seems to gravitate towards. But the distrust of being betrayed again, and especially that feeling of not being enough, all those old fears that make him doubt himself and his worth in the eyes of others, make Blaze close off and pull away from River.
And River, a hard-working, honest and incredibly sweet and beautiful man, just seeing Blaze, a really hot Blaze, for the first time feels like he's been swept off the ground. He has no problem flirting with Blaze and making him see that he is attracted to him but he soon realizes that Blaze, while at first flirts back, soon shuts down and walks away. So River is content to maintain a friendly relationship, mostly related to work, and settles down to wait, hoping that one day Blaze will let him get close. And it is after a year that the opportunity presents itself.
Blaze feels more grounded. He still hasn't figured out what he's missing, but life on the ranch somehow fills him up. And then one day he finds himself accepting River's unexpected invitation to have a date with him. He still finds it hard to believe that someone like River is attracted to him, but little by little; River manages to break down the walls that surround Blaze, making him feel wanted and loved for the first time in his life just for himself and not for what he can give in return. River accepts him as he is, weird accent and all, and encourages him to be himself. And Blaze realizes that that part of himself he thought was lost is no longer. For the first time ever, he feels complete and capable of giving River what he deserves.
I love seeing how the characters grow through the story. Blaze goes from being a shell of himself, to someone vibrant with enjoyment, and River, well, despite the fact that he had his life more determined, more on track, thanks to Blaze he is also encouraged to take certain risks.
And now to wait for Alec, and pleaseeee Zane????
I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
I already thought it was weird when the was apparently a week long timeskip between chapter 4 and 5, which is when Blaze and River really should've stated getting to know each other. I was flabbergasted when chapter 6 started off a whole year later. Wtf? If you were going to timeskip a second (really third time if we count the prologue) then why not just have them start off one year into knowing each other? Showing their history together was essentially pointless when they barely got to know each other in those chapters anyway. It was like the author wanted two separate prologues but just hid the second one.
It was super annoying having the characters just expo dump that they got to know each other slightly better as the year passed. It's like the author just missed the lecture on "Show, don't tell". I came to read about characters engaging in situations that make them fall in love and see that play out on page, not read about characters telling me they did things or just list out characteristics (when the author should've crafted scenes to show those things instead).
Having both Blaze and River constantly references the accident in chapter 5 added to the head scratcher of the year long timeskip. Why keep on talking about the accidental vaccination incident when there had been 365 days since? Was there really nothing else that happened between them since? Story-wise that's really sad that the two MCs had done nothing noteworthy in such a long period of time, writing-wise it was uber repetitive (I swear chapters 6-10 reference it at least twice each chapter)
I DNFed when Blaze was making a mountain out of an anthill by (explicitly) wondering if his ex screwed him up for relationships and if he's good enough for River. I'll give credit that the author at least tried to include some conflict, but given the lack of actual risks, Blaze's concerns don't really add up to much. We didn't see how Blaze's previous relationship played out, so there wasn't any real emotional connection for us readers there. Him wondering if he was good enough for River because "I'm from big city and not used to country life and we're so different" literally isn't a conflict in itself, it's just a statement of fact that he and River are different (but not irreconciably so).
When I read Colby, I wanted to know Blaze’s story. If I hadn’t known that he was next, I likely would’ve embarrassed myself by begging R.M. to gimme Blaze. Thankfully, no embarrassment was necessary, and Blaze was delivered on a silver platter.
Blaze is a self-made billionaire with a cracked heart of gold, who sells his company, steps back from the spotlight, and goes bake to Broken Horn Ranch to work with his best friend. It’s there that he meets River, another ranch employee and someone to whom Blaze feels an immediate attraction. However, his last boyfriend was a horrible human being and because of how he used Blaze for money, Blaze isn’t sure he can open his heart again. That doesn’t stop him from imagining what it would be like to be truly happy with someone – especially if that person is River. Maybe River is the person Blaze needs to learn how to love and trust again.
River is an absolute sweetheart. There’s no other way to put it. He makes beautiful art with wood and, while he sells a lot of it, he also makes some as gifts (like a candy shoppe countertop) or as donations to a good cause (an auction where the money goes to benefit the LGBTQ+ community). He visits his father every Friday and has the patience of a saint – even when that patience gets him vaccinated and, later, a busted-up thumb. He is immediately taken with Blaze when he sees him for the first time, riding in on his horse. River hasn’t really thought about a relationship for a long time. He’s content with his life and has everything he needs. Except Blaze. And River is starting to think that Blaze is someone he needs.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and, as always, my review is honest and unpaid. Blaze R.M. Neill
RM’s tagline is ‘Fun and Filthy’ and in her Bios she says her aim is to make you swoon and snort laugh whilst reading her work. I can tell you that she achieves this in all of her novels; every single one. In Blaze, RM kindly presents us with an older, sexy rancher and an equally dashing and same age ranch hand; both a little weary, both hopeless romantics, both wanting to find that all encompassing love and brave enough to set out to do so. Set against the backdrop of a Ranch that rescues animals and also hearts, and giving us welcome glimpses of previous characters she has written across all of her work which is so lovely to see, this gentle yet strong love story is incredibly beautiful.
In Blaze, RM gifts us emotion filled pages of words that make us feel warm, safe and loved. They are like a cup of tea and a warm blanket on a cold evening, enveloping you in warmth and allowing you enter a world full of sweet romance, low angst and lots of gentle humour. She has this ability to make us become friends with the characters, invested in their well-being and rooting for them to find their HEA and found family that is so important to them. The imagery is so clear that anyone who loves older guys falling in love, ranch’s, animals, found family and fun will be in their absolute element as it’s so very easy to depict every single scene and action as it becomes part of our world too. Every sound, every scent and every emotion is right there for the reader to experience. It’s an amazing thing, to read an RM novel.
BLAZE by R.M. Neill, the second book in The Broken Horn Ranch series, is Blaze and River's story.
Blaze has had enough of the rich city lifestyle and wants to return to his roots working on the ranch he co-owns with his best friend. River loves working on the ranch and when Blaze shows up, the ranch becomes that much better. Blaze may be guarded but River is hoping he can open Blaze back up.
OMG!!!! Blaze and River are so adorably sweet and swoon worthy. I fell in love with these two in the first book and fell even more in love with them in this book. They had me smiling the entire time and even brought tears to my eyes.
I love this found family at the Broken Horn Ranch and can not wait for more from the series.
Get ready for... mm, cowboy, billionaire, mature mcs, friends to lovers, workplace, found family, and dual first-person pov.
Content... cheating (mentioned, sc)

Blaze's character caught my eye and piqued my interest ever since I read Colby's book. I am so happy that we got his story! I have to admit that this had almost a slower pace than Colby's story did, it was a slow burn for sure.
With it being a slow burn story it gave the characters more time to get to know each other slowly and develop feelings over a length of time, instead of rushing into things. Blaze is a business man, but he doesn't want to be any longer. He is going back to the ranch, how home, where he hopes he'll find his place to belong. With the help of his childhood best friend Dan, and the other men at the ranch, Blaze finally starts feeling like himself again, he thought that side of him was gone, but bring surrounded by his friends, and his horse he's able to be himself once more.
Someone else who helped him regain his true self back is River. Blaze caught River's eye as soon as Blaze rode up on his horse with a cowboy hat and an accent that made River's jaw drop. Both River and Blaze have things to work through in this story and together they were able to support each other and help one another through those difficult conversations.
I just wanna say.. I love Blaze's cat, so cute! And all the jokes when River was teaching Blaze how to carve wood? Hilarious! I'm looking forward to Alec's story! Overall a really great book featuring an accidental vaccination, a bruised thumb, and a sleigh ride!

This is a sweet and swoony addition to the Broken Horn Ranch series by RM Neill. We first meet Blaze and River in Colby’s book and know there is more to Blaze than just Dan’s friend who is a co-owner of the ranch. In this book, we get into his backstory and learn about his insecurities and things holding him back from happiness for a man who seemingly has everything money could buy.
Blaze has this air of confidence but something hides beneath this surface. He meets River when he first comes back to the ranch after leaving the city life and River is immediately taken with this man. But River understands that sometimes patience is the best virtue. River’s character was just an amazing part of this pair. Sweet, caring and absolutely swoon-worthy and an absolute treasure for a book boyfriend.
I definitely appreciated the timing of the book and these two getting to know each other and Blaze learning to trust and open up to River. To feel comfortable to share those pieces of his life that he’s been judged for by people he trusted. River may be a regular guy but he’s all that Blaze seems to need.
I really enjoyed this series and how wonderfully sweet and romantic some moments were in this book. I enjoyed this pair of MCs - tender and caring and a laid back low angst read. I am definitely looking forward to Alec’s book and curious about his story. Looking forward to reading more from this series.
Richly developed characters and honest emotions place this book near the top of my m/m "finding love" books that I've read to date. Applause for the author for making this story not only enjoyable, but heartwarming.
Introduced briefly in "Colby," the first book in this series, Blaze sells his company, becomes a billionaire and leaves New York City to return to Broken Horn Ranch were he originally lived. But he returns an emotionally hollow man.
River works at the ranch and hand-makes custom wood furniture on the side. Fiercely loyal to both his work and his 85 year old father, he lives his life on an even keel and likes it that way. But his mother's death leaves a hole in his heart.
Until Blaze arrives at the Broken Horn Ranch.
With exceptional world building, old fashioned values and a perfect balance of humor and hurt, these two unattached men begin a romantic journey filled with real dates and healing of each other's scars. Aided by Dan, longtime friend and co-owner of the ranch with Blaze, and the other workers on the ranch (particularly Heath and Martin), the pair are drawn together in a deeply loving relationship.
With plenty of wooing and sparks, the author brings Blaze and River together seamlessly and with passion. The plot is a smooth and polished adventure that left this reader yearning for more... and more! I cannot wait for the next Broken Horn story.
This is a marshmallow story, both such sweet and gentle characters with hearts of gold. Blaze needed to leave his city life and go back to his country roots. He was hoping he would find someone to fill the void in his heart. He is wealthy beyond his means but his money doesn't define him. River is a man with simple pleasures, he takes a long time before he feels confident to ask Blaze out. They had been working together for a year so already had a good friendship. The two of them take a traditional approach to dating initially, but as they get closer and more intimate they can't resist spending as much time together as possible. The two MC's were very evenly matched and I honestly couldn't pick a favourite. I loved how they both had female best friends and both rang them for boyfriend advice, they were more alike than they realised. River and his dad had such a genuine and loving relationship, it was heartwarming and for Blaze to fit right in, without squeezing anyone out was very telling of the person he is. I found it hilarious that Blaze leaves the TV on for his cat, with re-runs of Meerkat Manor! The time jump at the end and the epilogue gave us a happy ever after and a restored faith in true love. We are told Alec will get his story next, I'm looking forward to his book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I fell in love with Blaze in the first book of this series. He was mysterious but kind. In this book, he is much the same. He started out very much to himself and then finally opened up. When he did though he was not at all what I expected. The best way to describe Blaze is he starts out like a mild winter. He's not mean, just closed off. Not safe on the roads. But if he opens up... he's just beautiful. Like spring. The flowers he loves. I know, it sounds ridiculous. But if you read the story you'll get it. This is probably the sweetest story RM has written. And it works, perfectly! I'm not normally the total sentimental type. I love the manly guys. But this one was a perfect mix of cowboys on a ranch with horses and sweet love that is meant to be.
River was a surprise too. He's shy but also opens up in this story. More than I expected. His story is a little heartbreaking but so beautiful. It pulls at the heartstrings. Extremely sentimental. And his relationship with his dad... love his dad. And his cat. That cat could almost steal the story.
I love cowboy romances. This one was epic. I loved the story. The boys both surprised me from where they were in Colby's book to here. I love when characters surprise me. The animals are always a great addition and the side characters, again, add a lot of fun and laughs. In this story though, you just want to hug it by the end.
This was such a wonderful and sweet follow-up story to Colby in the Broken Horse Ranch series by RM Neill. I’ve always enjoyed the books she wrote and this one certainly did not disappoint. The Christmas scene was my favorite scene in the book. You’ll have to pick up the book to read and find out what. I am envious of the camaraderie among the people who works at the B.H.R. because it sounds like one big happy family! Throw in a father in a retirement home makes for a wonderful minor character!
The story focuses on Blaze, a billionaire who had just sold his business and was ready for a change. He came back home to help his best friend run the B.H.R. He had come out of a bad relationship where his ex took some money and ran, leaving him to piece his shattered heart.
River, a ranch hand had the hots for Blaze from the moment Blaze stepped on the ranch. He tried to play it cool but others noticed it except for Blaze who was very oblivious about it. He was deeply thrilled when he was paired with Blaze on tasks around the ranch. On the side, he would have his weekly date with his dad who resides at a retirement home since it was a precious time spending time together.
How did Blaze finally realize River had the hots for him? What was so special about the Christmas scene? All I can say is pick up the book and read!!! 5 stars reading from me!
This is a comfy cozy romance that will warm your heart like a winter bonfire. One that proves that wealth doesn’t make someone invincible to heartbreak and in truth, it can make you an easier target for people who only see the money.
“He's a marshmallow with a broken heart that he's still doing his damndest to protect.”
Blaze has left his corporate life behind to return to his hometown and the Ranch he co-owns with his best friend Dan. Searching for something more fulfilling. That’s where he meets River.
River is a darling of a man, who’s kind, compassionate and has such an open heart.
Getting to know them in this story was like meeting a new friend. Not only were they both really lovely people, and they had so many sweet and touching moments, but they were also fun and flirty. I especially enjoyed the fact that the billionaire wasn’t the one always taking the lead.
PS. Blaze’s ex can suck it. I hope he lives a long miserable life!
This is the second book in The Broken Horn Ranch series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. This is the story of Blaze and River. Blaze is a billionaire who has decided to move back home and reset his life. He was a silent partner in the Broken Horn Ranch and now he will be an active one. He is kind and friendly to all those he works with at the ranch. Not too friendly. His walls are still up from the embarrassment and hurt caused by his last boyfriend. He has decided being alone is better than being hurt. But he is still searching for something. He just doesn't know what it is. River has lived in the same small town his whole life. He never had the urge to leave. He works at the ranch and has a side business woodworking. He visits his father every Friday at the retirement home where he lives. He was happy with his life. Then the two of them meet. It is instant interest and lust. But Blaze shuts that down as he is not open to relationships of any kind. But River is a caring and patient man. He is prepared to wait as long as it takes. This is their story. The book is well written and easy to read. I enjoyed their story. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I received a free copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A billionaire spurned by love in the city and a ranch hand who is convinced his life is complete. What could these two unlikely souls gain from each other? As far as Blaze is concerned, nothing. He doesn’t need anyone else playing with his heart and River is content with keeping his life steady down the path he’s chosen for himself.
Blaze Porter is a self-made billionaire who thought he had it all. Money, fame, and love. Until he didn’t. When heartbreak strikes and leaves him broken he makes the move back to his roots and returns to the countryside in hopes of finding what he lost; even if he doesn’t know if he’s ready to find out what it is.
River McAdams life is as smooth sailing as it gets. He’s convinced that he’s where he’s supposed to be and nothing should change. That is until he meets Blaze. The sexiest man he’s ever seen with a shell so tightly wound around himself that River is willing to disrupt his smooth life to figure out just who exactly Blaze is and what he means to him.
The instant heat between River and Blaze is nothing short of swoon worthy. The navigation of their relationship is so sweet and well done. Neill deserves a round of applause for the way they portray the softer and darker sides of both River and Blaze.
This is the second in the Broken Horn Ranch series, but can be read as a standalone. We do meet both River and Blaze in the first book, but it's not essential to have read that to enjoy this. This is such a sweet, warm story as I'd kind of expect from these two, having met them in the first book. Blaze is a partner in the ranch, having sold his billion dollar company and walked away from his previous life, for many reasons. Not the least being the most odious ex on the planet, who had absolutely zero redeeming qualities and I was quite happy when he walked away leaving possibly two of the sweetest men together to work towards their future.
This is such a lovely, heartwarming story about rebuilding confidence, and finding that person who you can trust with anything, even your past because you know they won't judge you for it. River and Blaze have such a great connection, I loved all the flirty banter between them and the slow build of their relationship, it made it all the more rewarding seeing them come together and find their happy ending. This was such a joy to read and I loved it.
