Sparks fly behind closed office doors when a grumpy billionaire seeks revenge on his high school sweetheart by becoming her new boss.

If I want something, I go after it, and I want revenge on Dakota Atwell.

I hate the way she’s lived rent free in my head since the day she left me.
I hate the way she smells like fresh flowers and citrus.
I hate the way my pulse races every time she walks into my office.
I hate the way I dream about touching her soft skin, digging my fingers into her hair, and taking what I want from her.

Now that I own her company, nothing will stop me from breaking her. Nothing but the pain in her eyes when she looks at me and the attraction still sizzling between us.

I’ve never wanted a woman more than I want her, and I will burn this company to the ground to get her.

A steamy, enemies to lovers, second chances, billionaire office romance that will leave you breathless, from USA Today bestselling author, Jeana E. Mann.

Strong start that fizzled out by the end. It started off interesting with the slow burn chemistry between Dakota and Sam. I get why he was mad at her and was torturing her. The behavior was repetitive and got old really quick. He was an ass, then something would happen and he felt bad, they'd have a moment, then he'd go back to his assholey ways. They lost so much time because of miscommunication. I did like reading the flashbacks of when they were younger. It was weird how Sam's mother went from disliking Dakota as the help, to giving Sam the family heirloom ring for her. That was a fast turn over she did. The spice was good and there were definitely swoon worthy moments, but the ending ruined it. This book desperately needed an epilogue to show the HEA. The actual ending leaves it up in the air and questionable.

'Foolish Mistakes' is the book one in Jeana E. Mann's "Seaforth Billionaires" series and I'm here to tell you, if you're looking for a light, witty, romantic read this is not the book you want right now. This was so full of angst, frustration, heartbreak, and at times, hard-headedness on a path for revenge that I had to walk away from it several times. Sam and Dakota were high school lovers, eighteen and from different "sides of the tracks" but were in love and wound up getting married. Remember those days of being young, in love, and thought you knew it all even though you barely had anything? That's how their married life started because Sam's father disapproved of not only their marriage but their relationship altogether and he financially cut Sam off. But, once again, they were happy. Until Dakota's brother stole from the Seaforth's and Sam's father blackmailed Dakota into leaving Sam to save her brother and her family's reputation. And let the bitter heartbreak begin. It's festered for ten long years and Sam wants revenge when Dakota returns to town. He has a plan and intends to play it out. The only problem? He still has feelings for Dakota. And Dakota? Oh yeah, she still loves Sam. Hindsight is always 20/20 but will they let go of ego and pride to talk and realize the truth finally or will revenge have its day?

Love survives

Sam and Dakota go back a long way. High school sweethearts, young lovers, newlyweds, struggling but happy young marrieds. United in the love of a lifetime, until Sam's controlling and disapproving father, staged a viciously successful "intervention." Years later they meet again when a business deal throws them together. Pain, hatred, and vengeful retaliation duel with rekindled attraction, and the hottest enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance EVER, blazes across the pages of this book. The stakes are sky-high in their conflict with each other, but their real enemy's scorched-earth efforts to destroy them is an even greater threat. I hung on every word, feeling the heat, the hurt, the anger, the longing, and their determination to fight for the truth that could free them. My voluntary, independent ARC review calls Foolish Mistakes one of the hottest romance reads of the year.

This book gives you everything you want in a romance. High school sweethearts Sam and Dakota have a wonderful life, albeit without a lot of money. Sam's father cut him off when they married. But they were happy. Happy until Sam's father tricked Dakota into giving it all up to save her brother. Her brother stole from the Seaforth family and Mr. Seaforth was ready to let the authorities know about. She gave up the love of her life so her brother could survive.

It broke both of their hearts and Sam vowed to get his revenge on Dakota. Buying the company she works for was step one. Keeping her there so he could torture her was step two. Leaving her wanting more and dumping her would be step three. Too bad he was still hung up on her.

I loved the way this story flowed. The backstory was an incredible way of telling their romance through fresh eyes. Could they find each other again? Could they see what made them so happy in high school?

Foolish Mistakes is the first book in the Seaforth Billionaires series. This is Dakota Atwell and Samuel Seaforth’s story.

Dakota “Kota” married her high school sweetheart, Samuel “Sam”. Sam and Dakota made “Foolish Mistakes” early on and after Sam bought the company where Dakota worked to take his revenge on Dakota for their divorce.

Sam and Dakota’s story bounces back and forth from their past to the present time.

I loved reading their story! I could barely put this book down. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in this series. Foolish Deception.

At times I hated this book and at other times I loved it. If you are looking for a light, funny read, read something else. This story got to me and I found it hard to read. I would have to walk away and come back to it. That said, even though Sam and Dakota's love story was full of heartbreak and hurt, their connection was undeniable. The ending leaves them a bit more hopeful for a HEA and although it's not quite a cliffhanger, it might as well be. The next book is out and yes, although I found this one difficult at times, I will read the next book.

Oh the angst in this book. I love a book that tears my heart out and stomps on it and this book does it. Dakota and Sam are young and in love. They decide to marry and be together. Well Sam’s family doesn’t approve and they find a way to get Dakota to leave Sam. Of course Sam is bitter and heartbroken and years later when Dakota comes home all those feelings are stewing. I loved this book. I love a book with angst and I love second chances. I want them to find their way back to each other and I want to enjoy the ride the whole way there. Amazing book. This is the first in the series I will be reading the remaining books.

What’s not to love about a second chance romance in the workplace!
I feel for Dakota as she discovers that Sam, her high school sweetheart just bought out her company and hates that he excels at riding her ass. You want to “Gibb-slap” Sam for the tasks he assigns to Dakota, and you cheer for Dakota who keeps plugging along and offers insightful information on a pending buyout. But the chemistry between the two will not be denied. Will Sam be able to put their broken past behind him? You have to read to find out!

This is book one in the Seaforth Billionaires series. Dakota and Sam's story begins. Miscommunication is a huge issue for them. If they would just put more effort in, maybe a few challenges could have been avoided. There is alot of history and chemistry between these two and it makes for an explosive present but not sure what the future holds. Enjoyed reading their story and looking forward to how it all shakes out. Enjoy!.

Sam and Dakota were high school sweethearts and in love until Sam's father did something that ended their relationship. Now ten years later Sam is her new boss and he's determined to get revenge on Dakota. These two go through a lot in book one of the Seaforth Billionaires series and this second chance romance took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. After that ending I can't wait to read Foolish Deception to see if Sam and Dakota finally get their happily ever after. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Foolish Mistakes is the story of Dakota and Sam who had loved each other in high school, married, and then divorced at the insistence of her father-in-law. They meet again ten years later only for Dakota to work for Sam under difficult circumstances. This second chance romance has realistic characters, strong emotions, revenge, blackmail, mistrust, secret love, and a cliffhanger. Their story continues in Foolish Deception.

What happens when you make Foolish Mistakes

Foolish Mistakes is the first book in the Seaforth Billionaires Series. The author has retitled, made a few updates and has now republished an older series. This book was originally released as Pretty Broken Girl. I have read a number of the author's books but not this series, so I was interested in reading this earlier series. I enjoyed this first book about Dakota and Sam. The story does continue in the next book, Foolish Deception, so be prepared for that.

Trust is everything.

Trust in a relationship is very important. And they are lacking with it. She didn't trust the love they had. It's her fault but I also weep when Dakota cries in her mother's arms. She has a lot of baggage in her life. Revenge is eating him alive and he will do anything to hurt her.

It's fascinating to read.

Cliffhanger

This is a good book but you will need to purchase 3 books if you want to know how their story ends!
This couple endured some hardships because she was the daughter of the help! I wanted to believe that their love survived the sabotage but alas I cannot say because it ends on a cliffhanger! A bit dissatisfied!

Dakota never thought she would see Sam again. It has been ten years since she ended their marriage, now he is taking over her company. Sam =was unprepared for the feelings he encountered when he saw Dakota. He still loves her ,but she hurt him when she left. Now he wants to return the favor. This was a great book.

Okay story . 2-1/2 stars.

Had a good start , but later parts and the ending were disappointing. I didn't care for the dual timeliness. Sam wants Dakota to suffer for leaving him, but his behavior is repetitive and boring. Dakota believes she deserves whatever Sam does , but then gets upset when he foes them. I will not read the rest of the series.

The basic story was fine, but I figured out the backstory that lead to the central conflict early on. The backstory that lead to the book's central conflict jarred. Dakota was young, but I never really bought she would have made that big an error in judgement--not with her intelligence.

Also--soft cliff-hanger.

Interesting tale of lovers to enemies to second chance lovers. Basic steamy romance novel with some hot 🥵 steamy parts… but overall was just eh. Not the best. Not the worst. Worth reading while I couldn’t sleep. Probably won’t continue with the series though…

Foolish Mistakes

I'm hooked! This was so good. When you're young, you do tend to make a lot of mistakes. The point is do we learn from the lesson?
Sam and Dakota were broken by their foolish mistakes. I can't wait to read more.

I love books. This book has all the trademarks of what I enjoy the most. I'm made for Laughing. Crying, & reading about getting revenge on the boss (or in this instance the Boss's smarmy Father) Great read.

It started strong, but fell off near the end.

Between the dual POV and dual timeline, it felt like a lot to understand. There was a lot unsaid without revealing the big mystery or puzzle, but it wasn’t all that shocking?

Hmm

I really like this story, so much that I read it in one sitting. I like the flashbacks, their back and forth, and even the fringe characters. Here's the one missing piece for me, the ending was fine, but it could be better. Enjoy.

Trash. Everything about this book was just a let down. The FMC who just lets a man treat her like shit. And the MMC who thinks he’s justified in being cruel. Plus the weird HEA that just felt incomplete. The only thing that saved this for me was the spiciness and the very few fluff scenes.

Both characters had very complex and interesting backgrounds. While not explicit in the story the subtlety of jeanna's writing showed two people who are from different social classes trying to come togeather.

I love a quick easy read. Great when your in a reading slump.
