Beautifully written history of the island and their life for centuries before moving to the mainland of Scotland and all the socio-economic and emotional advantages and disadvantages of having to learn a new way of life and 'being', especially for the older Islanders who were accustomed to seeing their wives/husbands throughout the day, then having to pack lunches and not see their spouses from dawn to dusk.
