"StreetScapes" Grafitti: Walls of Photo Ideas
For years, camera in hand, I have been snapping away at walls of graffiti and street art in major cities in the United States and Europe. The attraction has been there since growing up in New York and witnessing the evolution or some may call it a “revolution” of this unique art form.
There was plenty of it back then and plenty of it now. and as more artists grab a brush or chalk, and as more cities embrace it, it clear that it is not going away.
On my latest trek into Portugal, a fantastic city for photography and getting acquainted with this medium, I started to ask myself a lot of questions.
What is graffiti? What is street art? Where did it begin? What is the history? What is the difference between graffiti in Europe and the United States? How did it get so popular? Who are the major players currently in street art? Who were the major players when it began? How is it done; what materials are used?
Where and who started it in the modern era? Where can you find and photo the best graffiti?
